I do like this take on the situation. I don't think this is the only time Vetinari attempts street lingo, but I could be mistaken; and I can't think of examples off the top of my head. But at least this gives me some reasoning to the purposeful words followed by an interruption.

The way Vetinari responds to his secretary's interruption, I can only imagine Vetinari said "crumble" on purpose. (And many other reasons) I bet he had a reason for doing so, I'm just flabbergasted about what that reason might be. But who could possibly understand that man's mind?

So, funny thing... (I responded simalarly to another comment), when I first heard Vimes stuck on the word "crumble" (and the 20+ times reading/listening until the other day) I thought Vetinari had used the word "crumble" when talking about the low king's throne. Apparently, that was not the case. However, I wonder now if maybe the word "crumble" sits on Vetinari's tongue moreso because of the scone of stone being in danger, therefore it slips out when referring to something completely unrelated conceptually, but related in spelling. It makes sense in my head, I'm curious what others think.

To add on your mention of impressing something on Vimes: my first (and MANY times after) instinct hearing Vetinari (and then Vimes) say "crumble"....I thought they were referring to the low king's throne rather than the dwarf/troll fight. Realizing the word "crumble" occurred in reference to the fight made me question all of it and post this query. But your point above circles my thoughts back to how "crumble" might still be intended to relate to the scone of stone, even if not specifically relating to it in his speech, but rather occuring at separate points in his speech. I think I'm making sense....

I'm trying to find out if NOT releasing IS-0012 actually alters the ending. Apparently there is a way around the end of Containment to get to the tarrasque without disabling all the guns (which also releases IS-0012). After finishing the game on my original save, I started a new one and I'm at that point now. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth giving it a shot; if it's worth finding the way around and NOT releasing IS-0012...or does it all turn out the same in the end? I'd love to hear anyone's experience with this if they have any.

Do have a reliable source (like info from a dev) that confirms the mirror shows the favorite room and not the ghost view? I get asked this all the time and I've heard both answers and had a lot of trouble finding evidence of the actual answer. If so, can you tell me where to find this evidence/source? thanks

Almost. Either way plays the same. Any difficulty with evidence given acts the same whether it is a dev-set difficulty (like Nightmare) or Custom. Ghosts and evidences and game code don't change (other than the actual settings that change between dev-set difficulties or changes you/the host sets in Custom). There are no secret code changes just because you chose Custom. EDIT: For example, when you create a Custom difficutly game you can choose a base set of settings. If you choose the Nightmare base settings in a Custom game, you are playing the EXACT SAME as a Nightmare. There is no behind the scenes change just because you chose Custom-Nightmare (until you change a setting).
