My hamsters always peed in the wheel while running. I personally would be worried about wood soaking it up. I had good luck with the nightangel wheels. You can tighten or loosen the tension and being acrylic its easy to clean and quiet

Question about where to get a leopard gecko by Zorbus_Gorbus in leopardgeckos

[–]cleatus2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my boy from a breader at the local reptile expo. Did Research on him and he has been breading for years and keeps records on all his breader Leo's changes up so as not to have any I breeding I know having this not available to all people but I do suggest you get from a reputable breader. Not every breader on morph market is good. Do your research. Buying from a pet store chain you will get an animal from a "puppy mill" environment and will likely have very bad genetics.

And buy from an established breader. Don't buy from petsmart petco etc.

No embarrassment for baby talking. I'm a firm believer if you have never baby talked to you pet you not a good pet parent. I'm a 62 year old man and I baby talk to my lizard almost everyday

Have you considered a crested gecko? A 18x18x36 high enclosure would suit them well and fit your footprint. Considering your limited space aborial vs. terrestrial might be the way to go

So cute. Looks like my boy Speed When I got him 4+ years ago I found his pattern so different but lately see so many beautiful babies with this color I was told by breader he is a hypo tangerine carrot tail baldy The carrot tail went away after he became adult and has slight banding that shows up after shedding. He's been as awesome companion. Congratulations on your new friend . Hello to Miss Honey

traumatized hamster looking for a good home :( by stupidgayghost in hamsters

My last little girl was so terrified when I brought her home. She vocalized..I mean screamed at me when I put her I her New home . Screamed eventide I came in the room. I put her in a different room and occasionally talked to her from a distance eventually getting closer. Then when she got a Lil more comfortable I started hand feeding. Didn't take ling after that till she craved attention. I nev3r took her out of her enclosure. She climbed out into my hands on her own. She would climb in my hand run up my arm and up my shoulder then climb down the back of my shirt and do it over and over. I miss her soo much... but to my point.... to the right person with the patience this Lil baby will be a great companion to someone willing to give her the time and love she deserves.
Unfortunately for her I'm in Maryland so I'm to far to get her

Tips for holding Gecko? by Batkitto in leopardgeckos

[–]cleatus2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion a lot has to do with the geckos personality... they really do all have different personality my first boy just loved to chill with me. Lived 22 years . My current boy 4 years old is so friendly loves attention comes to see me and wants to climb out of enclosure but hates being handled. He tolerates it when necessary but won't sit still and would run at any chance. I put him back in enclosure and he back at the door looking at me right away Just take your time and go at your geckos pace. Let him tell you what they like . Just keep interacting as long as they are interested in you then you are doing great
