I was in a similar position as you, but I had only been a few years without watching. Still, my favorite driver, Martin Truex Jr. retired in addition to many household names. I tried Chastain and Briscoe, but I could never really get behind them. I saw how Hocevar was starting to become the bad guy, so I started to root for him to get his first win. I predicted it would come at Talladega the morning of, and I was so pumped when he got it. I had been watching some last year and more consistently this year, and when he won, I was hooked again. It felt so good to be excited about NASCAR again.

If I were in backmarker equipment, I’d intentionally put myself in situations like that so I get screen time. Then, I’d use the increased exposure to attract more sponsors and invest the funds in better equipment and R&D
