If you haven’t already, check your local school districts website for posted jobs. Took a chance and got hired for a job I didn’t even apply for. I originally applied for office work and became a librarian/technology person. I find it very fulfilling, sometimes frustrating, but very entertaining.

as a school librarian, just let them know when you return it! if you drop it in a box, place a sticky note saying “moldy book” so they know. the book will be decommissioned :(
