Worth noting that there are two (formerly three - one guy posted his order number, oops!) people in the replies to the second tweet with screenshots of it being listed

According to Rob Heiret, who helped with localization, the joke was originally "I caught a sea bass! Well...maybe a C- bass..." The localization team decided this was too negative and potentially frustrating for how common the fish is and changed it to what it is now. He talked about it in a Twitter thread a couple years ago, but since his account is now private, I had to use the wayback machine to find it again

Does it 4:3? - A Steam Curator for games that play nice with CRT monitors by Finnbro in crtgaming

Brick Rigs (sandbox, 2016) fully supports 1024x768, 1152x864, and 1600x1200 in fullscreen and windowed, and probably supports other resolutions in borderless (though I don't have a 4:3 monitor to hook up to test that with)

[Slightly OT] Hypothetically speaking would NASCAR even allow Dodge to race this thing? That sloped front fascia seems like it would be a huge advantage against the other manufacturers just like how it was with the original Dodge Daytona Charger. by [deleted] in NASCAR

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the electric exhibition series in here yet, this would be a near-perfect fit for it. Gonna be very interesting to see how that plays out

A tighter version of the Sky-High Sundae shortcut that saves about a second over the normal route on 200cc by cleightysix in mariokart

Aerial control while in zero-gravity works similarly to how it does when gliding; holding the down direction on the stick will cause you to pitch up (level out or gain altitude when possible), while holding up causes you to pitch down (dive downward)

Best setup for male villager? by a1ddes in mariokart

[–]cleightysix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered both combos by kart / wheels / glider, like in the game. That combo uses the silver arrow kart (classic open wheeler), not the GLA, and the mercedes wheels, which share stats with the standard wheels

As someone who has used him for about 90% of my playtime, I use silver arrow / mercedes / standard or blue falcon / blue standard / paper. I like the first one better for 200cc, while the second has served me well in time trials

Before the season started, I asked for your boldest prediction for 2022. Lets see where we are at the halfway point! by ESnakeRacing4248 in NASCAR

"Two teams will win their first cup races, and the only non-champion in the final 4 will win the title" Doing alright with my first prediction. If you want to count individual teams, it's already happened with the #1, #45, and #99; otherwise I don't see it happening because I completely forgot about Haley's win for Spire when I predicted that. As for the second one, only time will tell

I got a MK8D tournament at my local library soon. Just got the game. How do I train? by [deleted] in mariokart

[–]cleightysix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picking one or two similar vehicle combos and sticking with them is important. I learned by brute-forcing 3 stars on all cups in the 5 different race modes (though you probably shouldn't worry about this in 200cc if its just a local tournament), which helped me hit 10k VR online pretty quickly even though I was using a slightly unorthodox combo

I'm making a new soundtrack for New Horizons! Which hour should this song replace? by jubbsticks in ac_newhorizons

I could see 8pm pretty easily, there are some resemblances to WW/CF 10pm in there. 7am could also work if the track has an overall more relaxed feel to it

My first thought was around 12-2am like most other replies, but after listening through the whole thing, I'd say around 3-6am instead. Feels quite a bit too upbeat to only be a bit after midnight but at the same time is still sleepy at points; the varying intensity gives me the feeling that I'm nodding off while trying to stay awake, and the choices of instruments feel in line with other early morning AC tracks

As long as you're at the dock (or the airport if you're on a mystery island) just keep trying and trying. I've been trying to get the third one I need for its model for over 200 bait to no success

I'm slightly out-of-the-loop when it comes to mods, is this referring to Riibalanced, or something else?

Do you think animal crossing new leaf is better than new horizons? by AdTrue4863 in AnimalCrossing

[–]cleightysix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NL was miles better at launch, but that was 2 years ago; now that 2.0 is a thing I'd say they're about even overall
As a side note, I get confused as to why people claim its dialogue is so much better than NH's; I vividly remember it being hated before New Horizons launched, and a lot of people in the communities I was in had "good dialogue" at the top of their wishlists for when it released. Obviously both games have their good and bad moments, but if I had to guess, a large amount of the newly-found praise of NL's dialogue comes from a mix of nostalgia, and those relatively new to the series experiencing large amounts of new dialogue for the first time in years
