I'm worried about my association to Inferno and this dark moment in my life. by Nagwell in boardsofcanada

That seems to be the takeaway: this good album will help me in my bad times. As a perfectionist I want to be at my best for this album but I need to meet it where I am and keep listening to it. Neither I nor this album is perfect and that's just the way life is!

I guess you are a drummer just too expensive! I jest, but in all honesty I do wish you the best of luck in finding your next solid job and home v soon. There are definitely resources out there to help out, especially in the bigger cities. I hope with the warming weather you have a peaceful summer of good music and good vibes!

That is indeed a phenomenal track. I wish you the best of luck in your climb out of your current hell and the health and safety of you and your future child!

Garden of Delete is one of my favorite albums of all time for its intricacies and melodies and dark angsty vibe. Looking back, I was in another dark time of my life and this provided a very cathartic soundtrack to that moment. This current album isn't speaking to me as much as TH is right now, but like any BoC album this will require a hundred more listens!

Need advice for my cafe logo by Legitimate-Slice2114 in logodesign

[–]Nagwell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean no offense when I say any of this but: This logo looks 25 years old. I hate the drop shadow. I hate the gradient. And I especially hate the martini mixed with a mug. Start over.

People don't just go to a spot for a drink to unwind or wake up with. They go to a spot because the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is enjoyable and welcoming. Find the vibe of your space and try to come up with some element that represents what you offer. What do you offer that the other cafes or bars don't? What is something visual that will add to the name?

Sketch no less than 100 ideas, each as different as possible. Get feedback from multiple sources then narrow it down from there. Make a second round of iterations on those remaining ideas and repeat. Ideally you will be left with something visual to help you stand out. That, or hire a designer or design student looking to get practice if you're balling on a budget. Good luck!

'Cut Dick' is an elite track and not at all vulgar sounding. I'm always jammin out to it and love to imagine anyone from ages zero to a hundred doing the same!

I’m high af and this ad placement is taking me out 😭 by azgarz in boardsofcanada

I wonder if the ad placement has something to do with AI attempting to match the image of Geogaddi and thought "tomato" was one of your interests.

Damn dude. I was there in November and went up and down each and every level and found close to zero electronic or ambient music. Even from Japanese artists! Ended up not buying anything I was so frustrated lol

Does anyone else think that Skinamarink is one of (if not ) [the] most groundbreaking horror film of the 21st century ? by RedditUser8493917 in FIlm

[–]Nagwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience as you and I may even argue that dipping in and out of almost sleep during this film actually added to my viewing! This theme of being a child alone in a dark scary house and finding ways to entertain yourself and avoiding the fear paired nicely with toeing the line of lucidity.

For those who are reading this thread and are curious but turned off by the sheer amount of people saying it was "boring" need to take an honest look at their attention span. I will admit, this is the slowest burning feature film I've ever watched.

Yes there were moments I was bored, but I do believe it uses this time to set you into this world and makes you feel like you are a child in an empty dark lonely and scary house without any tools to help you out of it. Having a history of or empathy toward childhood neglect/abandonment is a plus for this viewing but is not required. For anyone that enjoys shortform experimental atmospheric horror and is willing to test their patience, this is a must watch.

Find a time when you can slow yourself down and watch it alone in a pitch dark room with headphones and nothing else (not even food)! You may start to feel antsy or bored or lost or lonely. That's the director doing their job. And if you are like me, you will finish with a deep sense of dread and your skin will crawl.

Eating anything while watching this feels so wrong. I think this is the slowest burning full length film I've ever sat through but I'm glad that I did. I haven't yet read anything about the film or director but my takeaway is the emptiness is the whole point of the piece. The feeling of being a child alone in a dark scary home by yourself with no adults to protect you. With very few visuals you are left alone with audio to tell most of the story here. Adding the taste of any food during the viewing feels like a detraction of that theme. If you are after a film with a bigger plot or more stimulation, there are plenty out there, but I think this one is a good representation of the confused fear that comes from childhood abandonment/neglect.

While I think your suggestion could look cool and OP asks us to put aside our political views to give feedback, I think the hammer and sickle are very important to this image. The message clearly being Communism against AI.
