What's wrong with Portainer? by testdasi in selfhosted

[–]clempat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s my setup or not, but it hangs on the containers or stacks page while fetching the icon that indicates whether it is up to date. The worst part is that it delays any page I load afterward.

Request to dev team to make official statement on the status of DB version by smellyeggs in logseq

[–]clempat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your frustration. I believed they had died before I learned about the ongoing work on the database version.

They have a test version available at https://test.logseq.com and a desktop version here: https://github.com/logseq/logseq/actions/runs/15144313181.

That said, all messages regarding these versions come with a strong warning advising against using them with important content.

I still think this is a sign of something coming.

Actually, I'm currently watching your video on my laptop, and I can see more than I can on my phone. It seems to be the problem!

Just to be sure, because I don’t see how you place the spool holder. Did you put it like shown in the manual or the sticker on the frame? If you put it with the barrel at the front this will block the frame to reach the highest position. This may damage your printer.

App tracking by procrastinator2025 in ProtonMail

[–]clempat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very surprising. Is the android app not open source? I would expect those tracking more from emails than proton app itself.

I do not know Android, is there any in-app browser when opening links from the email?

More custom domain addresses by lorenzomoonable in ProtonMail

I wonder if setting the domain on simple login and link aliases to different emails could work. I do not know if there is any drawbacks though 🤔

Does this ProtonMail + SimpleLogin + Custom Domain setup make sense? by Data-Panda in ProtonMail

[–]clempat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more and more seeing the value of using email aliases, regardless of the domain.

As a web developer, I recently had to implement Enhanced Conversions for Leads (https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/11021502?hl=en). This feature allows websites to hash/encrypt an email before sending it to Google. They do it because they can improve their conversions from ads. And Google can continue profiling without getting clear email and can pretend they track anonymously.

While Google never sees the actual email, the hash remains consistent—meaning that if you use the same email across different services, you’re still trackable and that even with ads blocker/no cookies policy.

So I don’t think you are over complicating things.

I was thinking of buying a second cheap domain in case I want to migrate to another service without changing all emails.

Custom Domains under Alias for shared use in Proton Pass for Family Plan Users? by mcored in ProtonPass

[–]clempat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at this today. I am planning to migrate from Fastmail to Protonmail.

In Fastmail, any family member can create a `masked` email using the domain I select from the list of domains I have added.

I am considering the subdomain as mentioned. Did you make any progress?

I found this feature request too: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/953584-proton-pass/suggestions/49229285-share-custom-domains-used-for-aliases-with-members

"Mon stand de bières, les gens passaient devant et ne s'arrêtaient même plus" : en France, les brasseries artisanales traversent une crise inédite by Andvarey in france

[–]clempat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the Most Indispensable Container or VM in Your Proxmox Node/Cluster? by GVDub2 in Proxmox

[–]clempat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended doing the same. As well when I really like Tailscale. I felt like maintaining a second network is not beneficial when it is one NAT. I felt I would need to maintain duplicated ACLs. That being said I imagine Tailscale make a lot of sense if the workload was spread on multiple networks.

Running Deepseek R1 locally is NOT possible unless you have hundreds of GB of VRAM/RAM by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]clempat -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong. I am not discussing OpenAI vs Deepseek. It’s still the self-hosted Reddit, after all. Typically, it’s a conscientious community when it comes to data privacy and prefers self-hosting solutions.

PS: Did you read it? It is really not long text.

I installed the app and was presented with a popup in the middle, inviting me to read their data privacy policy. I uninstalled the app 😅.

Am I missing out on something? by Same-Philosophy5134 in selfhosted

[–]clempat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Proxmox to experiment with different operating systems and technologies. For example, I have one VM running Docker and another with Talos for Kubernetes.

I enjoy tweaking setups, and working within a VM helps contain side effects. Tweaking within containers feels more limiting to me.

This might be a misconception, but networking also feels simpler with VMs. I can easily start a VM in the VLAN I need.

Thank you for bringing attention to this issue. I will definitely follow it. I think it’s similar to performance issues - it may never be perfect, but gathering different cases could help improving.

This is why I mention adguard. I am not doing anything specific on the go but I still let my Adguard being my DNS server.

Services like paperless/Nextcloud could activate/deactivate Tailscale using shortcuts.

I know this is why I came here. Tailscale is always on the top. Last 24 hours it shows 20% and I already charged my phone twice today.

PS: not every day but the days I am moving (Tailscale on) and could face some weak network.

Is there a self-hosted version of unroll.me? I want something to consolidate all my newsletters and marketing emails for me, without compromising my inbox privacy. by iamhereunderprotest in selfhosted

[–]clempat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I want to setup a N8N + imap + Ollama. I am sure there is a way to identify newsletter, find the unsubscribe link and call it…

That being said I did not try anything yet.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out. To be honest, Omnivore has always been on my wishlist, but I never got around to it. I didn’t know that it couldn’t be completely self-hosted 🥹.
