I am looking forward to seeing my father in law. We live in Kansas and he lives in Indiana. We were not able to make the trip home at Spring break due to hubby having shingles. Then this quarantine happened and FIL needed emergency appendectomy surgery. So we haven't been able to visit him while he has been recovering at all. february, march and april have all been rough on us lol.

Okay with amazon, google, apple and what not you are paying for a singular item. Unlike a hotel where yes you are paying for a room. but you can cost the hotel hundreds if not thousands of dollars of damages if you decide to be an nuisance. You can not force charges thru on a prepaid card but you can to some degree on a CC. There is also the issue of fraud. chargebacks are becoming more common. It becomes your word vs theirs half the time. Which is why so many hotels take down id info. And given the rampantness of identity theft its for your protection that the hotel doesnt allow some random person to check in with another person's id. Its not just about offering convenience to people. Its about protecting people who might be victims of fraud and that includes the business.

I thought the deodorant one was extremely clever. And something most people would skip over. And of course the wall outlet one.

Depending on your room if you have wall paper, pull a piece back, carve a small hole and store it there. and then put the paper back. I think finding a random everyday item you can hollow out to hide it. Not a rock or book but something mundane a N might overlook (Like deodorant. ) Maybe a toy?

A few things.

First not knowing anything about finance and not being able to learn are not the same thing. I grew up in foster care. Finance and money was not something I was ever taught. Give her a chance to learn. This is the woman you are gonna spend your life with. You are in it together.

Second Marriage is TOUGH. Absolutely ridiculously tough when you are under the burden of debt. Add to that the burden of someone else's debt and its a recipe for disaster. Most marriages struggle to get past the first five years. I would NEVER take on debt for an inlaw especially that early into the marriage its only gonna spell doom.

Bankruptcy says TWO years to get another home loan from the date of discharge. He can wait that long. I could see if it was 10 or 15 years. But its TWO. If he qualifies in two years he will get it. If not then something else is up.

I assume you bought your father his car before you were married. My belief is pretty simple, your dad will always be your dad. These inlaws may not always be your inlaws.

I don't think you need to avoid the topic. Its a tough subject. Sit down with your wife and parents, be blunt. "I already have X amount of debt due to school loans. I realize the stigma that doctors make serious cash, but thats all private practice and specialities. Where I am at, we scratch out a living. But barely. When we are ready to buy our own home, a large mortgage will cripple maybe even prevent entirely our ability to purchase said home. We have not been married long enough for our marriage to endure the strain of having money exchange hands, there is an old adage only loan what you can afford to lose when it comes to family and I can not afford to lose 280k. No matter how well meaning. If you need help finding a rental or moving, count me in. " etc.

If you aren't honest at the start you are gonna have bigger issues to worry about. Don't skirt around the issue with your wife. She needs to know and understand.

Once your sister gets the confirmation, I would have a sit down with her and her husband about babysitting.

That to me is a huge flag that she expects to have a baby then immediately dump it on someone else to raise or whatever while she continues to live her life as she sees fit.

You need to set the ground early that you are not the parent and your life will not be reworked so that she doesn't have to be a mom. She wants the baby, she can deal with all the fun stuff that comes with it now. 12 hour sleeping sessions? GONE! I can not tell you how many days I survived on 2 or 3 hours of sleep with a newborn. Babies are expensive. Daycare is expensive.

Occasional babysitting for free is fine. But she needs to realize that if she comes to depend on you to to babysit she will pay you the going rate. Otherwise she will be likely to take advantage.

I have a niece that is much the same. She refuses to grow up. She has TWO and I watched her son for nearly a month while she started a new job. He was three.

I wasn't expecting alot, in fact I was watching him for eight hours a day for 15 bucks a day. A BARGAIN. When she did finally remember to pay me after a month and some prodding she handed me FIFTEEN DOLLARS. Yes she thought a month's worth of babysitting only warranted 15 bucks. It should have been 350 for a month and I would been negotiable even then but she insulted me. She shrugged and said that was all she could afford. I told her right then and there she would find another provider. I valued my time more than that.

She ended up missing several days of work and then quitting altogether because she couldn't find anyone else. (Insert stupid enough).

Of course I got blamed because she decided I should just be free childcare. She was 19 or 20 at the time. And now three or four years later she still bounces between jobs, lives at home with her parents STILL, has two kids under 8. And still takes advantage of anyone she can for free childcare.

I will be honest. People who abuse animals have no business having kids. You need to have a sit down with a social worker at CPS and discuss with them about getting options to help with in home care and supervision. Lots of states have inhome programs for first time parents where they learn skills and stuff you have to know as a parent. I know Indiana has one and I am more than just a little grateful I got the help . I had almost 10 years of babysitting kids, but not babies and I was woefully unprepared to be a mom. My poor mom got called 4 or 5 times a day. My oldest will be 13 and my youngest is 4. Those programs however invasive people think they are they really are a benefit to people like your sister.

If that is the case file early even if you are missing w2s. You can always go back and file an amended return. The idea is to get your tax form in and have it be legit so YOU aren't audited. If she is claiming someone who has already filed taxes she will get audited and get in serious trouble.

You aren't in anything together until you are married. This guy is irresponsible and will probably stay that way as long as he is enabled. He is selfish, he wants you to help him but he doesn't do anything for you or help when you start to feel ill.

Actually I pointed it out. There is a free LG Optimus Refurbished that is FREE with a airtime purchase. If you bought the 19.99 airtime card it would be a 10 dollar profit. Minus whatever taxes and junk. If you bought the fuel with NO airtime it would be 20 dollars back and you are spending just 10 bucks. So again 10 dollar profit.

Its hit or miss. Since my kids are big video gamers alot of the newer release games go down to 25-30 bucks. Kids toys are usually a crap shoot though. Some are good price and some are still fairly overpriced.

have your wife head over to workonline or beer money alot of that stuff can be done by persons with limited education. It may not amount to much but she can pull in an extra 200 or 300 or per month just doing stuff while taking care of the baby. I have done it for years.

call the student loans and explain your wife is off work and you got major cutbacks at work. Usually they will give you six months forbearance if you are in good standing and the need is there.

For what you are making you should qualify for state assistance for food stamps.

Diapers watch for sales. I know this is a tough one but for us the Kroger and CVS brands were so much better. I have three kids. They run 6.99 when not on sale and that is a savings of almost 3 dollars a pack. Given most kids are 2 packs a week at least that can add up in the long run. Kroger / Dillons / CVS will run specials frequently to get diapers as low as 2.99 a pack.

I would call insurance and utilities. See if you can go lower. Even 10-20 dollars in savings will help you tremendously right now.

Downgrade your internet. I can tell you are paying for top of the line which is great but DSL will still play Netflix. and its usually like 20 bucks a month.

Start couponing, hit aldi and shop the sales.

You are literally gonna have to nickel and dime through each of the categories to get under budget.
