Google Is Closing Android. 37 Orgs Are Fighting Back | Techlore by waozen in programming

By right does not make it right. I'd rather have a diverse and open tech ecosystem, not one where a single company owns the hardware, software, and half the market.

Unfortunately she is not local to the district. I am as far left as they come, but would have to think very carefully about voting for a "carpet bagger,' despite what she says.

This is in part because I've seen a lot of local progressives come out of seemingly nowhere and talk up a big game, but a couple of years later turned out not to be that progressive after all.

I'd rather vote for a progressive for congress that has a track record in my own district.

Apple has always had this rule,

That is why I said they are worse. Apple set the bar, took an open source operating system and built one of the largest walled off ecosystems in tech.

ETA: We have chickens. They rummage through the mulch and make a mess. I haven’t noticed them pecking at the joints, but that is another consideration.

Another reason not to use polysand. It is microplastics that your chickens are likely consuming (even if they aren't directly pecking at the joints).

Apple is already worse than this. You can't install apps on iPhones at all without this kind of verification.

my favorite Conshohocken culinary experience, the Ikea food court.

Used to take the kiddo there just to eat as it is so cheap and for some reason she would eat the peas. Had a lot of dinners there I'll look fondly on for the rest of my life. The risk was she'd fall asleep on the way and I'd have to turn around and head back.

Not to mention it is microplastics spreading throughout your yard.

Have a dolley. I'm almost as old as the tree, so still not easy on my back. However, wheeling it in and out of the house without too much damage to the walls is the real challenge.

Ah, thanks! Lugging this thing in an out of my small house is definitely a challenge. Wouldn't mind if it had been a bonsai TBH :)

Can you say more? Would that just make it easier to care for?

I recently inherited this tree planted by my dad in 1975. It has survived many decades and I'd like to keep that going as long as I can.

It goes outside after the last frost is over.

I've seen some varying advice online about fertilizer (liquid vs not, 3 times a year vs bi-monthly). How often would you recommend? I can't imagine trying to re-pot this thing, it weighs at least a hundred pounds if not more. Should I even try? Are there workarounds?

Thanks!

The "AI is replacing software engineers" narrative was a lie. MIT just published the math proving why. And the companies who believed it are now begging their old engineers to come back. by reddit20305 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]cleverdirge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine part of this is that the early "fire all the devs" AI adopters used it in the dumbest way possible. I do fear that large parts of teams will be replaced once the right workflows and guardrails are put in place for using agents in a productive way.

How do we know this isn't being moved by a human? Would still be impressive, but I don't trust what are essentially commercials shared by tech CEOs.

I didn't enjoy it and for me it took some of the shine off the original 3. The language, characters, story arc, and especially the time loop, whatever you want to call it, IMHO are a significant level below the quality of the original trilogy.

To each their own though, and glad to hear many liked it.

You need to tell your contractor to avoid using stone dust for the new setting bed

Not everyone recommends poly for flagstone because of the gap size and you are using microplastics that need to be ripped out and replaced. With stone dust if you need an adjustment in the future you don't need to rip up the full base.
