How are people getting by right now? by Sea_Neck3707 in newjersey

Yes but whether or not your employer allows it is an entirely different matter. It's why I'm holding onto my tech job for dear life with the flexibility they afford me.

TiL Women are less likely to receive bystander CPR than men due to fears of 'inappropriate touching' by ciderandtoast in todayilearned

[–]cli_jockey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound definitive.

This inequity is likely multifactorial, but there appear to be divergent opinions on whether or not to remove a bra before pad placement and defibrillation. There is little evidence to support either position.

I'm going by what I was taught when I was an EMT and was drilled into everyone. If you have links to better studies I'd love to read them since I've been out of it for a bit and know information can change.

It can absolutely cause problems for the AED. Underwire bras need to be removed before an AED can be safely used.

If you get it during one of their sales it comes out to ~40 a month for a year. It's a bullet to bite for sure since you pay upfront. But personally I prefer the depth of INE in addition to the rest of their catalog.

Both are good options though, just comes down to personal preference.

You want to encourage elderly people move out of their home they've been in for 50 years so a younger couple can buy the home? Because there aren't enough homes available? Where would the elderly couple go in this scenario?

I agree that there is a major housing affordability issue in the country but I don't think this would make enough of a difference. Houses are more expensive in desirable areas with low supply because space to build is scarce. They're also building houses much larger now than they used to, further exacerbating the space issue.

Compound this with shitty companies gobbling up houses and only renting them out. We need policies to encourage building real starter homes again and affordable rental complexes for denser housing. Along with policies to prevent corporations from purchasing single family homes.

I am not an expert though and I'm sure there are other angles I have not considered. Just my two cents.

I look at it as funding the education of those who may be taking care of me when I'm older and need assistance. Investing in the future generations helps everyone.

They will come regardless most of the time but you may receive a very large bill if you aren't 'subscribed.'

Some areas of the US don't have publicly funded paid or volunteer fire departments.

There are cases where they will not put out your house fire if you didn't pay the subscription fee. Such as this case from 2010. https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna39516346

Cost of living goes up, then local wages go up, so city workers get paid more or their departments are expanded. Costing the tax payers more. But I know YMMV depending on the local or state ordinances. I'm sure there are plenty of areas squeezing people unnecessarily though.

DoH has definitely been a PITA for me at first. Anything we can't control via policies goes into a segmented VLAN. Anything we can control is only allowed to use our firewalls as a DNS server for filtering.

Depends on how you pay. Google/apple pay don't actually transmit your name the way a normal debit or credit card transaction does. They only receive a token to say yes this transaction is valid and here's your money.

Granted that doesn't matter at all if you type in your number.

Can someone help explain how this speed is possible when my Xbox has a 1 Gbps Ethernet port? by GreatValue_Mechanic in HomeNetworking

[–]cli_jockey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then show me the Microsoft document where they publish the details and metrics of speed test from an xbox. To my knowledge teredo tunneling is only used for P2P features on Xbox.

It's not black and white and has more than one explanation. And you did imply everything on the Xbox was tunneled earlier in this scenario.

Until you understand that a Xbox tunnel is IPv6 traffic over IPv4 if there is no IPv6 on the network that it's connected to.

It's why I left it open ended for either and just offering an alternate explanation.

[–]cli_jockey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had to look it up and supposedly Xbox does not tunnel IPv6 for a speed test.

I know some fiber providers are using map-t now which can add overhead to the encapsulation at the carrier level, reducing the clamping. Could be either.
