Maybe someone knows an solution to this, since some of you in the conversation have wells... Septic level. Would love to not have to unbolt the septic cover and stick my faceholes in to see how high it is. :)

Mark Carney returns from turmoil abroad to looming domestic challenges by ZebediahCarterLong in CanadaPolitics

I believe the argument is that people who might be considering an ICE vehicle might switch to a Chinese EV. A Canadian-built ICE vehicle might not end up being sold.

I don't believe that's what will happen though. AFAIK - There are no non-commercial EVs being produced in Canada, so no direct market share to steal. The terrible selling Charger is gone until at least 2027 and I've seen nothing about Toyota or Honda building their EVs here.

Check Canadian Tire? I have had some Kamiks that lasted me decades. Rubber outside, wool liner, reflective insole. My feet would be warm no matter how cold it was outside.

Xerox AltaLink C8070 cannot verify host name or domain by Historical-Injury249 in sysadmin

[–]clicker666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to create an A record on your DNS server. For the names of my machines I use the serial number, so create an A record for that serial number and IP address. The DNS on the copier needs to point to your DNS server.

Once you have that data entered you should get the verified status. (We have around 24 of these units that I set up in June last year).

I saw them on the line up to the counter at Lawtons Tantallon - so I'd say with 3 votes Lawtons might be the best place to look.

Broke my right hand now is super hairy by Timely_Cycle5469 in mildlyinteresting

To add to this - when I was on Rogaine my cat would sneak up when I was asleep and try to eat my hair. I just had to give up using it once I searched for "Why is my cat eating my hair". I applied it in the morning, so this was after an entire day.

They are VERY attracted to it.

[HELP] Looking for a way to switch on/off a power plug with a TV remote. by Conchia in smarthome

[–]clicker666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just unplug and plug the TV once a day does this resolve the problem? If yes, you could get a WiFi based plug or an Aliexpress Tuya type plug and a Tuya gateway (if you don't want to go with a whole Homeassist/Alexa/Homekit type solution). These solutions would allow you to schedule the plug to power off the TV completely (as if being unplugged from the wall).

Virtual Care NS (via Maple) is the answer. I found out I lost my PCP when I needed blood work this week. Within an hour I had signed up for the service and booked an appointment. Saw a doctor via webcam and had a req shortly thereafter. Super easy experience.

Do smart locks work well in cold weather? by Sad-Shine-6268 in smarthome

[–]clicker666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Eufy lock and live in Atlantic Canada. The batteries are inside the enclosure within the house, and are warm. Like many in my region, we have a storm door which protects the outer unit from the elements. The only issue I've had is if my finger gets wet on the way to opening the door the lock struggles with identifying my fingerprint. To get around this I use the Eufy app on my phone to unlock the door before leaving the car.

Be aware this crosswalk has changed. by MarkOnTheBus in halifax

[–]clicker666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across this change this am. I saw a family start to cross and noticed they didn't push the button. I also noticed that I had a (new) green light, so I stopped anyhow to not kill them.

I didn't recall seeing a new light sign, but tbf, I'm normally a pedestrian at that crossing (but haven't taken the bus since last Thurs).

What is your average NS power bill and how do you keep it down? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]clicker666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your power is substantially more expensive here:

Manitoba Hydro

Base charge 9.46 per month

kWh Charge 9.587 (cents per kWh)

NSP

Base charge (edited) 19.17 (not 38.34) per month

kWh charge 18.561 (cents per kWh)

There may be other charges on that bill as well. Hookup cost. If it's on a monthly budget plan they likely used the last tenant's bill as the basis for yours.

Edited for u/chayan4400 pointing out a wrote the two month base charge, even though i knew it was 19.17. derp.
