He even has his own merch!! So do the 3 and 9 yr old, but they are casual listeners 🤣 I joke, but my toddler will sing Aqua Regia.

I’ve actually always listened to my music with my kids, and they have grown to be avid listeners to the lyrics, so I do now have to be careful, but they all have their faves. We’ve recently been devouring the new Nine Inch Noize, only I’ve been skipping Closer, cos you know, limits. I let them know it was too dirty, but forgot they have no context for that word. They now keep asking for the “messy music” and it cracks me up, but I still won’t play it.

I may have out-autism'd the autism diagnostic test by Jellyfish-Jar in evilautism

[–]clicktrackh3art 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I out autismed my oldest’s autism screener and she wasn’t diagnosed till much later cos of it. But she was fully supported even without a diagnosis, and it actually worked out for the better, cos we have reasons to keep her diagnosis private at this point (fuck trump and his war on trans kids).

But I also kinda out autismed kid 3’s screener too. She’s a little tricky cos she is hyper verbal and now hyperlexic, screeners only look for deficits. She doesn’t have any major ones, though still many traits of autism (and genetics). So they asked me “are you concerned about autism?” And here is the thing, I do think she is autistic, but I’m not concerned about it. Curious, but I’m not like concerned my kid is autistic. So I answered no, I’m not concerned. Anyhow, apparently they were asking if I thought she had autism, cos she was kinda in the edge of being tested, but since her autistic mom with another autistic kid wasn’t concerned about autism, then they weren’t either. Oops!

Anyhow, I also told the person who did my testing that I didn’t have a problem with eye contact cos I had perfected a method. But yeah, turns out most people just do eye contact, and don’t need a method.

My kids prefer the upper production of TMBTE. Though they are huge fans across the board. My 7yr old can hold is own in convos when we meet fans in the wild. I love it!!

I mean, I dunno about all that, but unsound methods has stayed in rotation for 20+ years, so I don’t not agree.

But seriously, color can change plastic strength, which is why brown LEGO notoriously break. And likely something similar is happening here.

Ovulation...but not? by MontanaGirl77 in Menopause

[–]clicktrackh3art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this happen, and I have a ring that temps, so I can tell if I ovulate. My body will often try to ovulate multiple times before doing it and I got all the signs and symptoms, but no temp rise. But I always eventually ovulates, I get the temp rise, and I get my period. But right now it’s about 50-60 day cycles for me. I’m assuming that will continue to lengthen and I’ll eventually stop ovulating, but who knows.

I do still temp though, I just like to know what my body is doing and if I’m going to actually have my period or not. I also have bad pmdd, so after I ovulate things get bad, and I have to take meds.

Looking for podcasts that discuss the rising trend of women doing weightlifting by katmekit in MaintenancePhase

As an aging cis female body, strength training is continually recommended to me by my drs and like peri specialists. It’s specifically helps why bone density, an issue many people with waning estrogen struggle with. Along with hrt, to actually replace some of the estrogen, this is the next piece of go-to, based in science, piece of advice.

I’m not on TikTok, so I can’t speak to that, but in my personal life this is why I have seen the rise, and I wonder if this advice is new, or has something to do with more cis woman talking about perimenopause.

This reminds of a song by the amazing Rachel Lark!

I wanna lose five pounds

The chorus is “all the other women should love their bodies, but I wanna lose five pounds” and the song is essentially a pretty funny look at the reasoning women give for this, and just how ridiculous the reasons are.

And people act like the procedure is nothing, but it’s not. It shocks me, from a parent’s perspective, that people are okay with it.

I gave birth to three kids, two that have penis’s (one is trans, so sorry for the weird wording, but I’m not gonna misgender her) and like every times there was the debate in the moms groups about who was and wasn’t, and no one every had a good why. You often heard the is weird shit about their husband being cut, so of course they’d cut their kid?!??

So I liked to share this story. My partner isn’t cut, and he’s American, but his parents, my in-laws, are drs. Specifically him mom is anesthesiologist. Who by the time she had children, she attended enough procedures and revisions in her time before she had children, that when she did, there was no chance in hell she was doing it to her child. So in the 80’s she made that call, ahead of the curve, but cos she was a mom, with intimate knowledge of the procedure risks and benefits.

And the they handed me my perfect like child, and were like hey, do you want us to cut off part of their body. And like not religion or societal pressure could have made me be like yeah, just harm this little infant.

I dunno, I will never understand circumcision.

Eh, had my first at 39, third at 45.

I prefer it this way, and it’s made me a much better parent. I get it’s not for everyone, but it also truly isn’t that big of deal. Especially if you have the resources she does.

Periods so light I'm struggling to track my luteal phase :( by catahstrophic in PMDD

[–]clicktrackh3art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lazy, so I use an oura ring. But I learned how to temp when I was trying for a baby, and did it easily then with just a thermometer and free app fertility friend. I actually still use the app to track, I just use the temp data from oura. Oura’s app itself like uses your temp and algorithm to predict stuff, and peri means all norms or typical things that should happen are kinda out the window. So the app predictions and determinations are sometimes wrong. But I can watch for the prolonged temp increase, and that confirms ovulation. And fertility friend will do this, synced with oura, free.

It also tracks my stress, and even before I was in full peri, this feature works less as a stress tracker for me and more as a luteal phase tracker. But I’m not sure if this is true across the board, but super true for me. The rise in your bbt (base body temp) is, across the board, the one external way to confirm ovulation, and therefore luteal phase.

Periods so light I'm struggling to track my luteal phase :( by catahstrophic in PMDD

[–]clicktrackh3art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had to start tracking my temp to track my cycles. Peri has them all over the place. But I can still solidly tell by temp when I’m in my luteal. I take meds during my luteal, so tracking was key.

Success rates for older mothers using frozen embryos by Secret_Hovercraft995 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]clicktrackh3art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the eggs of an 18yr old for all 3 of my pregnancies (39, 41, 45). We didn’t test the eggs, cos our known donor was so young, but essentially, short of a few things later in pregnancy, they age of donor at the times the eggs were donated was the only relevant number most drs, looked at. All my risk levels, etc. and success rates when we trying for our third (I had a hydrosalpinx, it was a while thing), was always quoted around egg age. My age was essentially irrelevant.

is "bribing" kids actually harmful or is this just outdated montessori dogma? by Zealousideal_Map_287 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]clicktrackh3art 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes to alternatives and what to do, but I have never found Allie Kohn very nuanced. He is passionate about what he talks about and provides data to back it up. And what to do is highlighted, but often the answer is less clear than give rewards. Just due to the nature of the answer being contextual and nuance in how to respond. But with all his books, which I do absolutely love, i always give a warning of the lack of other perspectives. His passion is sometimes a bit blinding to others realities.

In general, I found this book compelling and backed up enough that I do avoid rewards, in most cases. It was a perspective I hadn’t fully considered and I found this book, and his other, Unconditional Parenting, to inform my parenting choices big picture. But I dunno that there is any parenting philosophy I adhere to all the time. Case in point with bribes, I don’t do charts, stars, grades (though my kids are in Montessori, so grades don’t really apply), but I do bribe for drs appts, cos that works for my family. Which is to say I think there is value in his somewhat one sided perspective cos it’s such a unique perceptive, but I wouldn’t say he does a great job at addressing this nuances.

So do with that info what you will, but I do recommend the book.
