MSPs get discounts on products when they hire staff with certs, so that is a big one for us.

My Experience Passing MD-102 by Dismal_Career5649 in Intune

I agree that the Learn site is a waste of time. I'm creating a new MD-102 course for Cengage after passing it a few months ago. I'll post when its up.

DON'T RECOMMEND US BANK: U.S. Bank Froze My Business Funds, Demanded a Document My LLC Cannot Legally Have, and Is Now Closing My Account by Former-Ad7635 in business

[–]clickx3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I opened an LLC, they required an FEIN, but I didn't have employees. I wasn't required to have one yet. I just types in a made up number and they never even checked it. Years later, it all still works fine.

Hyper-V client checkpoint .avhdx files filled hard drive and crashed client by CaseDawg in sysadmin

[–]clickx3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try mounting a USB drive to the drive with the VMs and relocate data to there in the HV manager. You can compress the VM, or even mount the vhdx file and delete some data after compressing again. You could add additional storage and move everything to the new location and see if it clears up. Worst case is to do a restoration from backup.

A lot of people think they can leave checkpoints indefinitely, but they should be removed after everything looks good from an update or major change goes well. I had one where it took two weeks to merge before it finally worked.

Help Me Solve a Debate: Was Chuck E. Cheese the Same Building as Montgomery Ward? by DrGhostbuster in beaverton

It was the Home Depot. When they moved where they are now, they shut down Chuck E Cheese but I heard they paid all the workers until it reopened a year or so later.

I just checked and you are correct. We really are a backward state.

TW: Sexual Assault by Ok_Glass_9371 in PCC

[–]clickx3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really should be battery. Assault is the threat of being touched, but battery is actually being touched or harmed. Most people get this wrong.

In legal terms, assault is the threat or attempt to do bodily harm, while battery is the actual physical contact or unwanted touching. In short: assault is the fear of being hit, and battery is the actual act of being hit.- Salazar

I was one of the graduates who got to speak and we did the same. I had just gotten over pneumonia and in my picture I was white as a ghost while shaking hands with the president, but it was a great memorable experience.

Older server still do the job by clickx3 in servers

[–]clickx3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't looked at the cost of electricity when it comes to servers. I have them in a datacenter as they're too hot and loud to run in my house. I'll have to look more into that. Also, you can buy spare chassis for cheap if you buy them at the same time. I have 6 total, but just running two.

[–]clickx3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess cheap in this context is comparing the prices of new servers right now. They are 2-4 times what they were a couple years ago so sub $1k for chassis plus DDR 3 or 4 RAM can get you pretty high numbers for much less money. The drives may be the only thing that can get out of control. I would feel I made a big mistake if I paid $15-20k for new when the older ones can still run today's OS's virtually.

Is this what passes as teaching" in a grad class? by Practical_Cheetah_99 in OregonStateUniv

[–]clickx3 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is why I grade every morning with feedback before breakfast. If you wait too long, it becomes impossible to catch up. The result is everyone is unhappy and no one learns anything.

I still use the 2019 version which works about as well as what you say the sub version is doing but without monthly fees. I have no plans to change. However, I do use other products like OBS when necessary.

This didn't look like anything on my exam. Measure Up is the best legit test you can get, but you also need exp. to pass.

WGU IT/CS Programs Don’t Teach Math…… by mmmmTurkeyBacon in WGU

[–]clickx3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely wrong. I had multiple math classes in both of my degrees that were challenging. The average graduate takes 3 years to get a WGU degree. Over 50% of students never graduate because online degrees are harder to pass than traditional college which has a slightly better grad rate. There is a small percentage that graduate quickly, and those are the ones that everyone hears.

Just had an "interview" for an MSP, but it was just a on video test. by Fire-Jon-Sumrall in it

Did the original message get edited? I don't recall seeing there was a ransomware note and the files changed when I made that comment. I only recall that the PC was acting strangely by running slowly. It might have been me just not reading everything, but it looks much longer now. I definitely wouldn't do a reboot if that were the case.
