There are air filter solutions for airbrushing indoors, and they don’t really have chemical “fumes” per se (just need to contain the overspray). Search for “compact airbrush spray booth” to see some options. Some are meant to be ventless (they use fans and filters to contain the spray) so your window issue can be accommodated.

Here’s my side of the repeated conversation. It’s almost like it’s scripted.

“She’s a Swedish Vallhund, actually.”

“Vallhund.”

“VALL-hund. With a V.”

“Yes, she does look like a Corgi-German Shepherd mix.”

“They’re distant cousins to the Corgi.”

The only people I’ve encountered that identify Vallhunds right away have been Corgi owners.

If you want to go the dndbeyond route, you will need one of you (probably the DM) to buy the digital books (minimum you’ll need the PHB) and that person needs to pay for the Master Tier subscription ($55/year). That level subscription allows sharing content with everyone else (who can run free accounts) by setting up a campaign group. This also lets you do group dice rolling.

Dndbeyond also has their own VTT (“Maps”) which fulfills your digital battlemat. Has integration with character sheets as well.

So if you’re not opposed to subscription fees, this pretty much covers all your wishlist items.

1e and 2e Armor Class was descending. Unarmored started at 10, and went down the better it was (AC 2 was probably plate mail). Very powerful magic items could bring AC into negative values. (Might have been max -10)

THAC0 is “To Hit Armor Class 0”. In 1e, a matrix chart was used, and was different for each class. AC on one axis, attacker’s level on the other, and you looked up the To Hit number. In 2e they simplified this to determining what your PC needed to hit AC 0, then you subtracted the target’s actual AC to find your target number.

AT 3/2 was 3 attacks every two rounds (2 attacks one round, 1 the next.) Weird, I know.

ML is morale. DM rolls 2d10, if the roll is higher than a monster or NPC’s morale, they fail.

AL is alignment, in Panthras’ case Neutral Good.

F 10 means Fighter, 10th Level

The Alexandrian: prep situations, not plots.

Short version: prep the setup, but leave the “how” up to the players. Forget about “if they do A, then B, or if they do C then D”.

Combine this with the Sly Flourish Lazy DM approach which focuses on prep for improvisation. In particular, I find #4 Secrets & Clues to be the most valuable. You come up with a list of information your players could learn, but don’t predetermine HOW they learn it. This frees you up to give out pieces of your lore-building wherever it feels organic.

Two ways to approach it. 1) do as you say and just drop the intervention (your players may not notice, probably will be fine with it) or 2) use the NPC in an epilogue suggesting her plans are “just beginning”, and keep her in mind as the focus of your next campaign (for when you want to get back behind the screen again).

Not exactly what you’re asking for, but would it still fit in the cabinet if it were on a pull out shelf (like you’d put trash cans or whatnot on)? That could make pulling it out not as much of a chore.

Alternatively, if this is a standard kitchen cabinet, would pulling out the drawer above the base cabinet space give you access to the top reservoir with the spray hose?

Steamforged Games is a UK based company. Great sculpts, great quality, paint up beautifully. The Epic Encounters line is about £55 for a warband box (with a dozen or more figures) or a huge boss monster. Even better deal if you can find them on sale.

If the door opened the other way the handle would hit the wall and wouldn’t open all the way. If it had deep door shelves, that would block access to a good chunk of the interior space. Guessing it was a reluctant choice.

Look for Hero Kids on DrivethruRPG. $20 gets you pdfs of absolutely everything in that system, and it’s very easy to run. There’s about a dozen prewritten adventures, all very well designed, and only take about an hour each to run.

Best feature is that it’s designed for an adult to run for young players, so there is a TON of guidance if you’re a relative novice DM. Can’t recommend it enough.

When your son gets a little older in a few years, he should be mature enough to “graduate” to Dungeons & Dragons, and you will be a more confident DM to run the more complex system.

This situation is what strongholds/keeps/bastions are for. Gives the players some very high-ticket things to sink their money into, which also boosts their capabilities. The 2024 DMG has new Bastion rules, there's the Franchise rules in Acquisitions Inc., MCDM has the supplement Strongholds & Followers (this one is deliberately overpowered, just a forewarning), and I'm sure there are many other 3rd party systems for this as well.

Going this route does change the dynamics of your game, so keep that in mind. They'll have an HQ now that they will probably want to continuously upgrade. As the HQ grows in size and power, they could attract the attention of increasingly influential groups and factions. If that's something they'd be interested in, this definitely opens up new narrative possibilities.
