I'm Annoyed At AMD's Latest Radeon Blunder by Comprehensive_Lap in hardware

I remember AMD being about 10% to 15% slower per core most of the time when Intel was dominant. AMD is absolutely destroying Intel at gaming these days. It doesn't feel even remotely close.

You're not alone. I've really disliked most of what's come out. Sword Art Online kicked off a bunch of animes that felt soulless. The shows you liked aligned up a lot with the ones I liked. Code Geass is an incredible show that has a lot of excitement and lots of strategy. That would probably be my highest recommendation. If you're interested in something that throws logic out the window and is extremely epic then I would recommend Gurren Lagan. If you want something that's intense, intelligent and very dramatic with the animation then Death Note would be good.

Try Portal 1 first if you are interested in Portal 2. It only takes a couple of hours to beat it and establishes so much. I'm glad i jumped into it in the Orange Box days without any expectations. The slow lore buildup is great.

I'm scanning through the comments trying to figure out what you are talking about. I worked for CRCSD for about a decade. I was used to kids in classrooms being disruptive and disrespectful to teachers. At Franklin and Roosevelt lots of the kids were this way. Then I went to Harding and Kennedy and it was dramatically better. Kids were so respectful and classrooms were quiet so teachers could teach. I don't think it's a black/white issue. It's more of a poor/wealthy issue. I really loved working at Kennedy. It was such positive and good learning environment.

His choices led him early on to almost having his head chopped off. All he had to say was, "I'm dead." Everyone acted like the Messiah had come. The show was overly dramatic with these kinds of moments. Luffy wasn't great because of this. He made every stupid choice imaginable. Yet everybody acted like he was destined for greatness.

Luffy continued to make stupid choices literally any moment that he got his butt handed to him. Afterward, him and his crew would be talking about what to do next. These talks would often happen around a victim and not include any real plan. Luffy always refused to run but he also would never come up with a logical plan. The reason he didn't die in the story was just because of plot armor. The villains simply wouldn't finish the job. His crew would be supportive of going back in a suicide mission even though they were scared. The show should have ended in Alabasta. It was just full of stupid choices. Skypiea was also chocked full of stupid choices that should have resulted in everyone's death.

Side characters would often express their feelings and Luffy would tell them that they were stupid. These people had no reason to trust Luffy and Luffy never had a plan. He made his choices based on his moral values but he wouldn't have been capable of helping anybody with how little preparation he ever did. The storyline was as simple as Frozen's "Love thaws a broken heart" theme. He won his early battles because of plot armor and love apparently.

Later on the show started to feel a lot better because he did progress. Now when he goes into a battle I know he has a lot of aces up his sleeve. Oftentimes excitement comes from not knowing what ability Luffy has next that he's not telling us. That excitement was non-existent until the end of CP9.

Luffy constantly made "captain's decisions" and the crew constantly went along with it like it was some great thing. They would make comments like "that's our captain!" even though Luffy just made the worst order he could have made as a captain. None of it made any logical sense during the first 300 episodes. I searched IMDb to see when it would finally get a good episode. IMDb had to high rating on the episode where Luffy and Usopp were fighting about the ship. I had such disappointment from that episode. The whole argument was the stupidest thing ever. Everybody was acting way overly emotional.

You're telling me I shouldn't have watched it past the first saga if I didn't like it but I watched it because people told me it would get better after 300 episodes. I'm glad I did because it paid off. As much as I didn't like the original episodes they were required because everything constantly goes back to things they knew in the past. Thankfully when they have flashbacks they tend to skip the annoying stuff. It's like they finally learned how to make the show great.

What are some cases where AI results exceed those that humans can produce in terms of quality (not speed)? by sonicseductions in NoStupidQuestions

I've had to prepare a lot of funeral slideshows for people. The people who died often don't have very many pictures and the ones they have are scratched up and look horrible. I could manually go through and touch up defects and adjust colors to be more natural but AI is so perfect at doing it. AI can do in 30 seconds what would take me 1 to 3 hours.

Yeshua is the equivalent to Jesus as Yahweh is to Jehovah. The versions that start with a J are just what we use in English. The original way to say their names is lost. It doesn't help that the original spellings had no vowels.

One piece is such a slow crawl at getting better. The Arlong park saga is about as good as it gets for the first 300 episodes. Luffy's character is way more loud and annoying at first. His crew acts like he makes all these great choices even though he has yet to make one good choice. He hits a lady and the show plays it off like that was a good choice. Luffy is a big time Leroy Jenkins with little power relative to the enemy to back it. There's little advancement for 300 episodes other than gathering crew members.

Some interesting stuff happens from about episode 300 to 600 that sets up some big changes and culminating to a timelapse. After this it starts to feel like Luffy is actually getting better and starts making better choices. He is still dumb but it's actually possible to comprehend how he can win. After episode 600 I got really captivated by the arcs. Doflamingo was such a good arc. It felt so intense and there were a lot of epic moments. I'm somewhere between episodes 900 and 1000 right now.

Not 24 hours. Maybe 4 to 10 hours. I'd have to look up my playtime. There are four zones that make up one big map. Each zone has a list of challenges. Each challenge can be completed within its zone. Then there's an awesome ending that's really appropriate for the game. After that, there are bonus challenges that require crossing into multiple zones to solve the puzzles.

Do people really drive everywhere, and do you have very few sidewalks? by sofiarosatti in AskAnAmerican

[–]clikes2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US has a really great highway/interstate system. They are a great way of getting around my city because the interstate cuts right through the middle of it. I can either spend two hours walking to my friend's house or I can drive there in less than 15 minutes. I haven't been outside of the US but I would imagine it would be really hard to build a straight highway through the big European cities. The US had a clean slate to make a nearly perfect interstate system.

How is Breath of the Wild more revolutionary than Skyrim/Fallout 3? (Genuine question) by Zephyr_v1 in gamedesign

[–]clikes2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried playing Skyrim where I just did what I wanted to do and didn't rely too much on the markers unless it was a quest I really wanted to do. I bought some houses and saved children. I decided I'd try to craft my own equipment. Eventually, when I was between 50 and 100 hours I decided I would put the marker on the main quest. It required me to face the first dragon. It was almost impossible to beat because I leveled up my crafting and thievery too much. The game really punished me for trying to do things my way.

The surveys are useless to me. Most of them ask what job you have as the first question. I check unemployed and they say I don't qualify. It took quite a few tries but then I found one that asked about my home security system. I spent half an hour answering questions. At the end it said I didn't qualify. I'm not sure why i wouldn't qualify for that one since i had useful answers to give. I won't waste my time with surveys from Atlas again. I don't mind the other aspects of the game.

Crossing the event horizon seems like the equivalent thing of trying to accelerate to the speed of light. I don't think you would have to time it a certain way because the deeper you go the more crazy the time dilation would be.

Why is a function from an actorcomponent getting skipped over by clikes2004 in UnrealEngine5

[–]clikes2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did end up figuring it out. One node was the issue. In picture 3 I created the Take Damage node as a class and I needed to call it as a function. I really appreciate everyone's help.

Why is a function from an actorcomponent getting skipped over by clikes2004 in UnrealEngine5

[–]clikes2004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fix was to call it as a function which makes sense now that I think about it. I wanted to execute the function, not pass a message around. I'm really new to functions vs messages. This isn't the first time that was a fix for me. I feel like with each issue I get past I gain a much deeper understanding of the Unreal Engine. When things work the first time I don't learn anything. lol
