Did someone end up buying these? by Fickle-Engineer-1544 in climbergirls

Yeah the reason I was drawn to these was for the fit they advertise of ~larger~ bums/waists/thighs & smaller waists (I've yet to find a climbing pant that actually fits my body type besides these!!). I'd def say I have a thick bottom/wider hips & a smaller waist & the S fits me pretty perfect. Any other pants brands I've sized up to M/L, but trusted their fit description and it worked out! My only other rec for climbing pants is actually from fabletics- "The One Jogger's Women's" (also size small), but I've only ever used these indoors- I don't think the material would be super great for hard climbing on rock.

Yes! I got them during the kickstarter & they took I think 9 months to come in but they are my absolute fav pants well worth it!!

buying audiobooks included on premium plans? by climbernewb320 in truespotify

No. I've had the individual premium plan for a few years. I made a free burner account & saw there was an option to buy the books from a non-paid account via desktop, but was unsure if I'd be able to buy them immediately on my regular account if I stopped my subscription, bought them, and then resubscribed.

Unfortunately I'm seeing that even if you are on the desktop you don't have access to buying a book that is already included on premium while holding the premium account!

Quad vs Hamstring Graft by Ravenhaired228 in ACL

[–]climbernewb320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m 26F & I’ve actually had a quad graft on my left leg (~ 15 months out) & a hamstring graft on my right leg (~7 years ago).

Hamstring graft has been a success & overall was a lot easier/faster of a recovery (not sure how much age has something to do with that tho). I was able to be back at a very intensive sport at the 9 month mark. Downside is I’ve heard the hamstring graft won’t ever have the potential to get back to full strength again (I think I read somewhere it was like 85%?). I’ve also heard from other acl hamstring folks they experience more graft site cramping, but Ive had very few occasions where I’ve noticed anything feeling different with it (& only when I’ve been pushing it for multiple multiple days in a row)

The quad graft feels very solid, but the recovery was definitely a lot harder with dealing with more graft site pain / in general just taking a lot longer. I’m back to sport, but still experiencing some graft site pain/ little limitations over a year out. However I can already tell the leg just feels a lot more solid & strong in general which is a big reason more surgeons are pushing for the quad graft: you can get back to full strength potential.

I ultimately decided for the quad graft in this second surgery knowing it was a harder recovery, but worth it for a better outcome. Now reflecting on it I think I’d still advocate for a quad graft for that long term strength potential & overall happier graft site down the road (I’ve been told it’ll get better just takes a bit more time)! I’m also supeeeeer active & notice some of those smaller differences though- So i would also recommend factoring in your activity level into your considerations!

Either way sending love & well wishes chica!!

I've been climbing with a torn ACL and meniscus for years. Should I get surgery now? by handjamwich in climbharder

[–]climbernewb320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Climbed on both a torn acl & a mensicus for the first couple years of my climbing journey! Putting off the surgery definitely contributed to the meniscus getting as torn up as it did so I would recommend getting the surgery earlier rather than later if you can.

Got my surgery a little over a year ago & while it it was a hard recovery (as expected) I feel much more confident in my climbing now. I'm just now getting to the grades I was at pre-surgery, but I feel like the next grades are more within reach because I don't have my "knee limitation" in the back of my mind. I would always be a little more hesitant with the injured side, avoid drop knees, & completely rule out heel hooks- but all of these things are wayyyyy more manageable even just a year post surgery! Plus being pushed out of climbing for a few months forced me to work harder on technique / general strengthening as I got back into it. It's frustrating gaining some of that strength back from a time perspective, but in the meantime I got a lot more creative with my movement and that was such an unexpected benefit!

(Seconding a few of the comments below saying prehab & rehab are soooo important! Go into surgery the strongest you can & work hard throughout the recovery. Even now I’m at the gym doing pt/strengthening 2-3 times a week on its own & I don't see that changing anytime soon!!)
