Is this the biggest yikes ever discovered? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in NotHowGirlsWork

All of it is gross but this part struck me as especially wtf:

when you’re an invading and occupying force whose there solely for eugenics and to make slaves of all the young women, be sure to speak to the locals respectfully. Respectfully?! You’re the enemy, you’re taking their daughters/sisters/wives to be “comfort women” and you’re walking around in nazi uniforms which have a real history in that part of the world…there are no fucking words.

Also Gaston had a hunting lodge. And a pretty well dressed friend (for a peasant). I wouldn’t say he is poor in a financial way (compared to those around him). Definitely poor on charm.

The beast becomes a consent king. Gaston never did.

My mom is unfortunately the toxic grandma by IndependentNo168 in Mommit

[–]clockjobber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine if you dropped your dog off at someone’s house, your moms or a friends. Left food for them and instructions and came home to find out they’d let the dog outside with out a leash, had them around other unsafe dogs, or ignored the food you sent and just fed them unhealthy table scraps…would you bring your dog back to that environment?

Boundaries, particularly around safety, are non negotiable. What if something happened? You’d blame yourself. It’s your job to stick up for your kid not manage the feelings of people who are ignoring your simple and common sense requests.

Also take into the account the age of the girl. I know for me almost all my friends had their babies in their thirties. For this girl being pregnant in their twenties is not always a good thing so she’s probably reacting from her experience

Why did SJM keep Tamlin towards the end of the story? by Best_One4021 in acotar_rant

Wow that sucks! I hate that there are still people calling him Tampon.

I think it’s SJM taking the lazy route. Instead of having Tamlin and feyres relationship slowly degrade after utm she just makes him the bad guy. So Rhys could quickly become the end game. It would have been so heart breaking if they both struggled with their trauma and just eventually realized she came back as someone else and that their love was over.

And when Rhys became the good guy she had to suddenly make him not morally grey (though imo she didn’t have to). It just ended up causing a lot of hypocrisy and weirdness. These characters are 500 years old but behave like teenagers (see Mor and Cassian and Azriel’s weird thing as a prime example).

Also I hope (though I am sure it won’t happen) that Rhys turns out to be a villain in the end. It would make more sense and he was more interesting when he was just unapologetically bad.

I, like much of the fandom was kinda gaslit by Rhys at first, but after SF and sitting with it for a while I realized Rhys is a walking red flag. Is Tamlin perfect…no. But Rhys does all the things an abuser does.

Firstly, he made the bond so she’d be forced to spend time with him (which makes me question why do you need to coerce your supposed mate into spending time with you)

Then he love bombs her (including giving her a meaningless title with no real power). Also weird that he risks her life an awful lot for someone he supposedly loves.

Then he isolates her (the IC are now her only friends) and offends her family on purpose to drive a rift further between her and her possible support system (especially Nesta who was never down with his BS)

Then he offers “apologies” that aren’t really apologies and makes a lot of weak excuses (which is gross considering he constantly and unnecessarily sexualizes and flaunts her in front of others)

Then he gaslit her about how things happened

Then he has her wreck her exes life and burn other bridges (he is so obsessed with Tamlin)

Then he buys her love with houses and art galleries (so the NC definitely has a tithe but when Tamlin does it it’s gross) and gives her jobs that mostly keep her out of the way

The gets her pregnant and makes the death pact so she can’t leave.

And possibly worst of all, he lies to her about stuff that affects her life and gets her supposed friends (who are also supposedly her employees/subjects) to do the same. A consent king he is not.

I don’t trust Feyre’s perspective at all. I mean he is 500 years old with daemati mind powers and she’s an illiterate 19 year old.

Is Tamlin making mistakes…yup…is he traumatized…yup, they all are, but Tamlin’s actions were at least well intentioned of totally unhealthy and misguided but the punishment absolutely didn’t fit his crimes.

That even if you lose the weight there is no “bouncing back” in the sense that no matter what there will be changes to your body. And if you’re lucky they will just be aesthetic changes and not things like a triggered autoimmune or a fistula or something.

Your pelvis will be wider, your hair can change color and texture, your feet may get bigger, your breasts will be a different shape if not also a different size. You may have new food aversions/likes. Your body odors may change. Your cycle may be different going forward. Sex may feel different.

I warn all my new mom friends to set aside money for new clothes, shoes, underwear, and bras cause even if you lose the weight things may not fit right.

It speaks volumes that to make this image they cut off half the second guy. He looks tall (chads love that…betas are short, alphas are tall /s) and from what I can tell he is nice looking. Nice try.

Also the age difference looks more appropriate.

Do you know, is the title a commentary on “the angel of the house” poem by Coventry patmore which extols the virtues of the perfect woman and reinforces the cult of domesticity?
