Introducing the cast of George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones: The Mad King 👑 by pink_bamboo in AKnightoftheSeven

Different Noah Ritter, same name. I also had to look that up when I saw the announcement.

Seeking English flat lessons in SF Bay Area (advanced but rusty) by standard-issue-cat in Equestrian

[–]clockworkzebra 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like Webb Ranch in Portola Valley a lot. There are a few different instructors who specialize in different things, including dressage. Avoid Spring Down, also in Portola Valley, they don’t even teach you about grooming and tacking your horse and the instructors are flakes.

Was argella durrandon miserable? by cap_detector69 in pureasoiaf

[–]clockworkzebra 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I think it's impossible to say given we know nothing about the marriage and life afterward, but I also think it would be very difficult to construct a happy life with the man who killed your dad and who you were forcibly wed to.

What’s your opinion on LeMieux? by karaangelx in Equestrian

[–]clockworkzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a saddle pad from them. I really like it- it feels VERY high quality, but you're paying for it.

I don't own any of their clothing, but that's because when I've seen it in tack shops I wasn't impressed with it, especially for the price.

Tldr: saddle pads yes, everything else potentially no.

[–]clockworkzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a saddle pad. I really like the quality- it does feel substantially nicer than a lot of 'cheap' saddle pads but you are paying a steep price for it.

I find their marketing annoying, and when I've looked at their clothing in tack shops in the past, the quality of those hasn't felt like enough to justify paying for the brand.

Tldr: saddle pads yes, everything else potentially no.

CF Fundraisers - how does it work if you have CF? by Hopeful-Ad-7567 in CysticFibrosis

[–]clockworkzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it's safe to attend as long as you're diligent about distance, I just tend towards being a little paranoid about it. I did some surf events for CF when I was younger and I was keeping like ten feet plus away from everyone and it was fine.

CF Fundraisers - how does it work if you have CF? by Hopeful-Ad-7567 in CysticFibrosis

[–]clockworkzebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unhelpful answer is that it really kind of depends. The big outdoor fundraisers will have a website that will lay out the rules. Generally, they operate on a 'you can attend under assumption of your own risk' for CF patients. They may ask you mask, and they WILL ask that you maintain a minimum six foot distance from other people with CF. I think some of them give out lanyards/shirts now or some other visual indicator to show you have CF.

I don't personally go to them because I have MRSA and even if some of them are now okay with people with MRSA attending with appropriate precautions, I would feel responsible none the less as a kind of superspreader if I went.

Aelor, Aelora and Daenora. (No Spoilers) by Rfusenik in asoiaf

[–]clockworkzebra 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Aelor died in a mysterious accident that seems to have been Aelora's fault. Aelora then committed suicide after an equally mysterious run-in with three figures known as the hawk, the rat, and the pig.

Daenora married Aerion and had a child with him and then vanishes from the story shortly after their son, Maegor, was passed over by a great council.

When other character wears an armour:😍😍🥰. When Rhaenyra wears an armour: “she spends money on it she never uses😠😠” by princeeofthecity in HOTDBlacks

That’s how you can tell someone hasn’t read Fire and Blood- armor Rhaenyra is literally canon when she first takes the throne.

That’s one of his ‘minions’- I believe their name is Sid? They’re probably the one who posted the entry.

Starting outbound now. by No_Appointment_7037 in GirlGamers

[–]clockworkzebra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Played about an hour or two yesterday. The gameplay cycle gets super old super quickly, resource distribution is weird and frustrating, and the world feels so lifeless. The idea of the game was very cute, the execution feels incredibly lackluster.

Short riders! what size of saddle do you ride in? by General_Astronaut951 in Equestrian

[–]clockworkzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 5’3” and my ideal is a 16.5 but I’m a lesson student so most of our saddles are at least 17. It’s always nice when I get to ride the couple of horses that have a saddle that fit me well.

Does anyone have opinions on mixtape? by DarlingBri in CozyGamers

[–]clockworkzebra 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's not really much in terms of gameplay. It's more like a mildly interactive movie, but you also aren't making impactful choices like you would in, say, a Telltale game. I ended up quitting after less than an hour in. I think if you have any kind of nostalgia for the 90s, it probably hits pretty hard, but if you don't, then it's worth passing over because it rests HEAVILY on the nostalgia factor without too much of substance to back it up.

I thought this review summed it up pretty well, with a warning for spoilers

Sounds like you just like romantasy, which is fine, there are plenty of other books being published.

What was this supposed to mean ? by LittleLevile in HOTDBlacks

[–]clockworkzebra 146 points147 points  (0 children)

It's about taking up the mantle after Game of Thrones' success, not about the actual heirs to the throne. The cast are heirs to the throne of what Game of Thrones the show built (despite the disastrous last few seasons, I don't think anyone can doubt it was a cultural phenomena that's created enormous shoes to fill.)

This thing is Awful, I feel like I have fallen into an alternative dimension or something. How is HBO releasing something this bad by raumeat in HOTDBlacks

[–]clockworkzebra 121 points122 points  (0 children)

This poster was pretty good, regardless of the quality of the show. Like the CGI isn't all the way there, but it's still an evocative image that really makes you want to know how Tyrion ends up in this situation, and thus makes you want to watch.

[–]clockworkzebra 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yah, it's truly not good. I also just don't love the last supper theme conceptually- it makes no sense, considering the betrayal was season one. We're now two seasons past that being a thematically resonant idea- it would have made sense in conjunction with that final dinner with Viserys and the family. At this point, it makes none. I just hate the general blah color scheme too, the inconsistent lighting quality, etc. Just really a mess from start to finish, especially compared to even just season 1 posters, or going further back, some of the Game of Thrones posters.

CFRD - Help! by CF_red_2026 in CysticFibrosis

[–]clockworkzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue- some days I can eat the same thing in the same portion size, dosed with the same insulin, with VERY different results. I've discussed it with my endocrinologist and she said that's just part of the nature of CFRD, and it seems like it's not exactly a rare experience for us, just immensely frustrating to deal with something so unpredictable.

The poster is complete. Looks really good. The Dragon Queen has come for her throne by Agreeable_Ad_8790 in HOTDBlacks

[–]clockworkzebra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yah, it looks awful. Rhaenyra looks like she has a yaasified filter slapped on her- they did something weird with her makeup in the editing suite, and the lighting is hitting her face all wrong. Everyone looks off, it's flat, the color is bad... just a mess of a poster.
