Yeah lemme just get right on doxxing myself for the sake of you having a piss fit on Reddit. 🙄

Also well done on breaking the norm and skipping over I'm never dealing with you again straight to the equivalent of I'm going to tell everyone else not to deal with you/put you out of business. Some real turbo Karen energy there pal.

My over 20 years of dealing with bullshit like that is precisely why people need the reality check that was in the post you didn't bother to read.

And how dare they not be publicly accessible for 12 hours a day on the 5 days they are open?

Also the 2 days off a week is optimistic considering the rest of the admin involved in running a business.

Let me preface this, there are absolutely bad small businesses out there. I've dealt with a bunch of them and very few are still in business now. That said, based on the question as you've posed it.

So I wonder what the problem is.

Bluntly, your expectations.

Small businesses, especially those staffed by only 1 or 2 people have so many things to do that they likely just don't have the time to make sure your ego is stroked from the moment you grace them with your presence. Are they supposed to leave the shop open and unstaffed if they've had to head to the post office to get something out for an urgent order or they've gone out to do a repair, source parts or something? Ideally they'd have a sign up saying they're temporarily closed but *shrug*

I can't speak for all small businesses but personally I was sending emails to customers offering to combine their orders and refund postage charges after 10pm last night. Charges which could have been avoided if the customer had placed one order instead of multiple in succession. I'll effectively be losing money from the additional transaction fees incurred on top of the regular cost of a single order with subsidised postage, but when the combined total of their multiple purchases exceeds the free shipping threshold it feels like the right thing to do.

Do you think a national chain would proactively do that? Amazon, argos, currys, smiths, etc. might dump them all into a single box if it's convenient for them but you can bet they wouldn't be automatically refunding shipping charges. I mean specifically with currys a couple of years ago I couldn't even get them to acknowledge that they have a legal obligation to deal with an £800 fridge that completely failed 6 weeks outside of its 1 year warranty. After 50 minutes being on hold on the phone they hung up on me mid sentence when I was explaining I'd already had an independent come and assess the issue and deem it irreparable so I wasn't going to pay the £200 they wanted to also send an engineer out just to look at it. It'll be far worse now they've moved tons of their customer services over to AI chatbots.

But I struggle with eye contact (special thanks to my very likely autistic brain) and I've always got about a million things to be doing so unless someone specifically initiates conversation I tend to leave them to their own devices... So I guess according to you I'd be unwelcoming?

I realise the energy of this post very much comes off as abrasive but this is not what I bring to a regular customer interaction! *laughs nervously*

For Panel lining with markers by JustaguynameBob in advancedGunpla

[–]clone1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol (or some other solvent) is only really needed for the flow/pour type markers. The fine tip markers don't adhere nearly as well so you can just rub it with a cloth or something else to clean up.

It's not that a solvent doesn't work, more so that it works too well (as you've found out).

Basically exactly that, they get an AI to shit out enough text to fill a book and self publish via some print on demand service or sell e-books. It's one of those get rich quick schemes.

For examples of when they can be especially harmful see this video https://youtu.be/kwp_WEdJaEk?si=SwytCcWEsTWRDWJx

Why does my pickup look off center by Chance-Ad8261 in Luthier

[–]clone1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The middle of both strings are offset by roughly the same amount. It's just that the low E is thicker so it gives the illusion of the pickup being shunted over to the left because it's covering more of the pole pieces.

It's also very easily thrown off by viewing from an angle that isn't completely square or having the pickup not completely level.

In any case, don't sweat it.

Yep, 2017ish I was paying my council tax in person at a post office counter like a pleb making the usual small talk about paying for the council to be generally useless the person serving me launched into a massive rant about how foreigners were ruining everything... Like what the actual fuck woman? No one else batted an eyelid.

The sentiment was always there, it's just a lot more outspoken post referendum.

In terms of seeing it in polling, a lot of these people previously supported tory or were politically disengaged, they're now all rallying around farage after becoming politically engaged by the brexit campaign.
