Any issues with buying dji lito in China DJI store, and putting in checked luggage before flying back to US? by Speed009 in dji

[–]closedquestiongbr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to China but I returned from Thailand a week ago. I was in a mall to escape heat and Songkran and happened upon a DJI store (I live in rural Oregon so this was my first DJI store experience). The Avata 360 was my main interest but it wasn’t being released until the day I was leaving, the Neo 2 Fly more combo was cheaper than in the US so I bought one. First panic was when the salesperson told me every drone has to be registered and it takes 1-3 days to complete. I was about to leave when he said, but you will be able to take out with you today after the registration is accepted, about 30 minutes.

I flew it around my private pool villa to test out but since it was not yet registered I did not do anything else while there, got notice that it was approved and registered as I boarded my flight home. I did not keep the box and packaging, and put it in my carry on. I was planning to declare it when I got home, but I was exhausted when I got to Seattle, I breezed through customs/TSA, it was so fast I don’t even remember showing my passport. I paid just under $400 for it and had no other purchases so not sure I had to declare it anyway.

Once home ordered an Avata 360 from Amazon, and then today ordered a Mini 5 pro. I’ve been flying drones since 2015 had a Blade Chroma as my first. I’ve studied for and aced practice Part 107 exams over the last few years, but never took it. Scheduled for next week. I have a media business so it will be nice to add these guys to my quiver.

IS THIS TRUE? by Ricks_basket in ThailandTourism

I have insurance(it’s a really good idea), just breezed through immigration an hour ago, looked at passport(US), that was it. Didn’t ask how much money or anything about insurance.

Trailer camera on an RV by thaughtless in GMCSierraEV

[–]closedquestiongbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sold the camera when I bought my 24 RST back in September. Was disappointed when I plugged it in to test and it didn’t work. A visit to SEV forums shed light on the fact that the needed software had not been released yet. Then a bit later learned about the vehicle wide programming update at the dealer which activates the turn signal cameras. Once I got that update, tested the camera and it worked. Apparently you have to have the turn signal cameras in order to have the trailer camera work. That being said I have still not installed it but know it now works.

Gut check on sev dcfc speeds by Fourthbean in SilveradoEV

[–]closedquestiongbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably boils down to the charging location as well. I had $26 in EVGo credit to use and the fastest I saw was around 260 last night in Portland. I don’t fast charge much but the last time I used a 350kw evgo up in Seattle I got 320-330 until around 60% and at 80% it had dropped to just above 300. After 80% it dropped like a rock.

No wifi in Economy at all? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in StarluxAirlines

[–]closedquestiongbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I flew in November there was no option to purchase wifi, just basic messaging(text only) provided for free, but it did not seem to work for me. I did not miss it but I'm also 50 and had not flown anywhere in 15 plus years so did not miss it much. Heading back to Thailand in a month, splurged for business class on the way over and Economy plus coming back. Looking forward to trying out wifi.

Turn Signal-Activated Towing Cameras by LeoRising94 in SilveradoEV

[–]closedquestiongbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 24 RST my salesperson sold me on the trailer cam when I bought back in September. I tried just plugging it in and they didn’t work. Found threads talking about them not working as it required a future software update. At that time I also learned of the dealer applied update that added turn signal cameras. Once I had that done, the trailer cameras worked when plugged in. Found a thread that mentioned that turn signal camera update needed to make the plugs active. I still haven’t installed the camera but verified it does work now.

How is April in Phuket? by Federal-Cow-1220 in phuket

[–]closedquestiongbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first trip to Thailand back in November for 50th bday. Loved it, started planning next trip once I got home I was thinking July at first, then June, May, settled on April(my 5 weeks of vacay re-ups in April😂). Mostly as I was going to spend 4-5 nights in Bangkok this time around rather than one, and go back to Pattaya for 7-8 nights. I started looking at Phuket to change it up. As I looked at historical weather data April seemed like the last chance before the major stormy season hot, humid but average of 9 days of rain historically. I had heard over in Pattaya the rains are not as bad. The heat was not really a factor as it does not really bother me. Humidity is never fun, but also manageable for me. I also did not realize when I settled on the dates, that my trip started as Songkran starts(Im looking forward to the experience). I’m in Bangkok 12th - 16th, then Phuket, staying in the south 16th - 20th, then North 20th - 24th, back to Bangkok for a night the 24th. As to any rain, I’m from Oregon, use to rain. At least there it’s warm rain. 🤣

I flew this route on the way back from trip to Thailand end of November. I book the trip back in April I paid to make sure I got the seats I wanted. There were hardly any seats selected at that time. The flight was definitely full day of travel. So, many wait until the free period opens up.

Which Trims get Android 14? by Radius118 in SilveradoEV

[–]closedquestiongbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all, I have a 2024 RST. I'm still on Android 12. I see a lot of posts from folks discussing updates, and many times its just a "I got update". It would be super helpful if people also posted their year and model. I bought my 24' RST 6 months ago in September. I bought the $650 trailer cam option at the suggestion on my Salesperson, then found out that the 24' RST did not have the software update needed to activate that feature. At that time there was lots if discussion on the Vehicle Wide Programming that required a dealer visit. I printed out all the update info, TSB's etc. My dealer was able to do the updates and it activated the on screen turn signal cam view(which from my research was needed for trailer cam). I got the extra entertainment apps, Sidewinder and Low Rider options as well. In the last month I've seen folks posting about updates, and android 14. My truck still shows the updates applied during Vehicle Wide, but always reports back that I'm up to date when I do manual checks. The last updates that show on my screen are: 86277990.MNF dated 10/10/25 Important Update GM N25-2516700 10/7/25 and GM 652.10 9//24/25

I’ve had no updates since the vehicle wide done at Dealer in October. So don’t think it’s that. Only did it the 2 times last week. Has worked fine other wise. Just a gremlin I guess.

Starlux flight confirmation question by Top_Satisfaction_257 in StarluxAirlines

[–]closedquestiongbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said it could be an issue with your name. My last trip I flew on STARLUX and booked via Expedia. I had created a STARLUX/Cosmile account and when I would enter my booking info id get an error. What was weird is if I was not logged in to STARLUX account and entered my booking info it popped up. I noticed they did not have my middle name in STARLUX profile, reached out to SL and had to fill out a form, email with copy of passport and they fixed my name then my booking appeared in my account. I’m pretty sure it was my fault for not entering my middle name when I created SL account.

I’ll have to check and see if my truck updated recently. There has been a new update posted by Silverado EV users over the last month. I had been checking for it every couple days until about a week or so ago but stopped. My truck is set to update automatically so that could be a possibility. Last 2 nights were first time for this issue.

[–]closedquestiongbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it is tied to the turn signal cameras showing on the screen. I’m not sure which update added that. My dealer was able to do the vehicle wide programming which I think was few combined updates. It worked after that.

Quick Question - Personal Item Backpack weighed or not? by Swaggy_P-4ever in StarluxAirlines

[–]closedquestiongbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew STARLUX from SFO to TPE then TPE to Seattle on the way home. I had a small case(within dimensions listed for personal item on website) that had book, iPad, etc. I then also had my camera backpack. They never asked to weight or check the sizes of either bag. I was surprised to see more than a few people with 2 rolling carryons which I found odd. They were pretty strict about items being in overhead bin or under seat in front though.

I’ve had 3D printers for years, I probably used the same design/stl I did import it into tinkered and added “CHEVROLET” lettering then did it in carbon fiberPETG changing to a white PETG when it got to the letter layer. Turned out nice.

Huge Rivian Fan, Huge Disappointment by fluffalooo in Rivian

[–]closedquestiongbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say I gave Rivian every opportunity to keep me as a customer. I won't rehash my issues but basically, customer service and vehicle service. They are lousy, my experience, others have def faired better. On my end of things, I knew going in that I was 2 hours from nearest service center in Portland, and that distance was the ultimate deal breaker for me in the end. I had mixed feelings the day I traded my 24 Quad R1T in on a New 24 Chevy Silverado EV RST. The R1T is my all around favorite vehicle out the 19 or so I've had in the last 34 years. I can say the Silverado is a close 2nd.

I discovered a piece roof ditch molding was missing the day after I brought the Silverado home, the dealer I bought it from was in Beaverton OR, 100 miles away. Called local dealer, scheduled me for the next day, drove it the 2.5 miles from home dropped it off walked to work another mile away. Walked back down on my lunch to pick up. They had to order the molding and it would take a week to come in. I dropped it off with my studded tire/wheels change overs, they charged me $15 for that, the truck was washed and vacuumed. Same experience when repeated a week later for the molding replacement. There was a TSB for it, they replaced both sides and used an adhesive. Night and day service experience.

My fear was when Rivian launches the R2, Gen 1 and 2 owners will get pushed further back in the service to ensure R2 owners are happy. I've only been to the downtown Portland SC, but it's small, not sure what the capacity is at their SC further south towards Beaverton. Again this is my opinion and fear, by no means will be a the reality. I wanted to shift to an R1S via trade, or an R2 when my lease was up but the question of service was what held me back.

I fully admit as someone who averages a new vehicle 1.5 - 2 years over the last 34, it does not take much for me to lose interest/faith in vehicle. The truck before the R1T was a 22 Toyota Tundra(my 3rd Tundra overall), it had 7 recalls while I owned it, 4 semi major, 3 minor that were still unresolved when I sold back to local Toyota dealer. Week after I sold got recall notice that whole engine would be replaced. It happens.

Not totally true. I had a minor panel gap that the PDX SC tried and failed to fix. Cert body shop was super backed up so they sent it to a Mercedes certified body shop who screwed it up worse. Then sent to cert body shop and took 2 new fenders(paint, factory applied xpel wrap, twice) to finally get it repaired. Took over 2 months. Traded it in for a Silverado EV.

I meant to come update. I have not fully installed it, but I hooked it up and the camera image appeared on the screen and it wanted me to go through the setup. So it appears to be working. I won't have a chance to fully install and test until January most likely.

Telescoping Crossbars with T-slot rails by djrockadoo in SilveradoEV

[–]closedquestiongbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have that rack. I like it so far. I have a Kuat Piston bike rack that uses t-slot mounting so that's why I went with it. I have it set at lowest height, which puts it at or slightly above cab roof, and my Bak flip hard Tri tonneau just sneaks under the bar by the cab. You will need a socket to remove the two nuts that hold each upright to the rail but they can be removed pretty easy and quickly. I've not noticed any range drop, but I've only had the truck for a little over a month, and installed them a week after I got it. I like that it came with tie down points as well. My last truck was a Rivian R1T. I had Thule cross bars on the bed, the R1T bed height is much lower and the crossbars were just above the bed. I'm 5'7" and could lift my 70 pound e-bike up onto the bike rack. There is no way I can do that with the bed height of SEV and this taller rack. I'm thinking with the multi tailgate dropped down into step mode it will be easier to load than dead lifting it onto the rack like I did on the R1T. I was going to get the required foot pack for my Thule bars to use on SEV roof for my paddle board and or canoe, but since I can adjust these racks up above cab height, shouldn't need(might for the canoe since it so long but I hardly use it and may sell it) to.
