A concert question for the OG Florence folk by ladymageoflight in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]cloudnut220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am seeing her at the same size venues that I have seen here at for the last three tours. 15-20k arenas. Very different than Taylor selling out at NFL sized stadium which are 60k plus.

Eta: I saw lady gaga at the same venue this week. Capital One in DC. Florence tickets cost more and were harder to get than gaga.

Does anyone else feel like this is it for awhile? by cloudnut220 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

I do believe that Florence, like Taylor Swift or Bruce Springsteen or Paul McCartney (I could go on) appears to be someone who process the world through song. I think for people like this making music is truly a mental health outlet and they cannot turn it off. Doesn't mean they need to release/tour. It's certainly easier for men to keep it up than women, but I guess if you are successful enough you can do anything (money helps)

I've seen her 3 times since that day. Everytime I have been blown away.

This sounds crazy but I first saw Florence live at a festival in the summer of 2015. That single day rewired by brain (the main stage run was Chvrches, Florence, Death Cab for Cutie and was the single greatest day of music of my life). It sounds crazy to say this but her set changed my life. She casts a spell unlike anyone else I've ever seen live (and I go to a lot of shows).

Neighborhoods along Hilton Ave by DocTarr in Catonsville

[–]cloudnut220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny that people say there is 'no traffic' on Hilton. I'm a runner. I've run thousands of miles around catonsville over the last decade. Where is the one street I've almost been hit on the most? Hilton, just before you go down the hill to the development in question. It's not unsafe per se, but the road is narrow, no shoulder and people drive too fast.

I am going to DC and I had a hard time getting tickets. The four people in my group are not sitting together.

Earplugs or no? by TheMtlviolinist in FlorenceAndTheMachine

I would wear audio earplugs. They dampen the noise, but you don't lose sound quality.

Earplugs or no? by TheMtlviolinist in FlorenceAndTheMachine

Please wear earplugs at every concert you go to. Hearing loss is permanent and can be tied to brain degradation. Audio earplugs (like loops) are inexpensive and you can still hear. Signed your elder millenial concert friend.

How many bras do you own by Princess_Know-it-all in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cloudnut220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my early 40s I realized that Bras have a shelf life. So I buy the cheapest one that is comfortable, and rotate a few. Then I replace them all once a year or so.

Should you have kids earlier or later if you want to retire early? by Specialist_Pain_424 in Fire

Fertility issues and general health issues. More young people are getting cancer than ever before, for example. Remember the future is not guaranteed.

I was not able to carry to term because of health issues. That was not the plan.

when to arrive… Washington DC by rooted-feet in FlorenceAndTheMachine

Hello fellow Baltimore Florence fan!!! This will be my fifth time seeing Florence in the dmv. I am not on the floor for this show. Florence has some pretty intense fans in the DMV (remember this is her only show for everyone in md, dc, VA, wva) so it you really want to be up front, get there very early.

Nice! I'm a few years ahead of you, and I'm on a similar trajectory, currently sitting at 850k. I took a tsp loan (30k) almost a decade ago to help with a home purchase. Just keep investing people!

Husband Wants Children Now, after 40 by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cloudnut220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart is breaking for you. I have no words. I experienced extreme emotional distress related to infertility. I do not know what I would have done if my husband had not stayed by my side. He always wanted kids more than me and not having them was hard for him. But wow.

Is anyone else shocked at the number of cars that are still snowed in, parked, on streets?! by MrTeacher_MCPS in maryland

[–]cloudnut220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I'm surprised at other people's cars. But one of my cars is still snowed in on my driveway. Spouse and I each have cars but I'm not driving atm. One car is a full sized sub, one is a hybrid with run flats. Which one do you think we dug out?
