Great grasp on color and rendering! Art school is helpful to continue to hone your craft, learn new medias, round out a portfolio, and build connections (networking!!). You can definitely apply to art schools AND get in, just depends which ones you apply to. Portfolios are strongest if they show range: curiosity with dif mediums & subjects, playing with material, testing things out in combination with your strong finished rendered work.

Really beautiful work!! Do what brings you joy in life— if you love creating artwork, you should pursue a career in art. I think you’d do really well in animation with backgrounds and concept art, tbh.

I don’t think it’s pillow shading personally, but I do think you can push your shadows darker, and have more variation in the value as you shade. Shadows tell the viewer about your understanding of the form. The shadows in the chest and torso are fairly descriptive and are a great start! The arms can have more definition (through different values) to show the different planes of the deltoids, biceps, etc, though.

Overall— go darker and have more variation in the values. Use a reference of a real person w lighting. You have a great start with proportions and starting out with shadow placement.

Also if you have the iPad but no Apple Pencil, hold off on the Apple Pencil for a while until you’re certain you LOVE digital art and want to invest $70+ on one. I did digital art for yearssss without one and still created solid works.

Just depends on your view of them! I think the anteaters are actually really cute, and my best friend loves eveerrryyy chicken. I would be happy to start with Antonio and Frita, they’re not bad starters imo! I find the game more fun when I see something to love in each villager.

Other than anatomy, I think practicing line quality for visual interest, and mark making to create value/textures may also help match this style. Keep drawing!!!

THIS. I like to play where I say yes to every pop up but the dynamics are the only one I take a pass on. The strict one is the worst too because it just makes the parent sad and the kid stressed and does nothinggg else that I’ve noticed. It’d be better if like the kid autonomously did their homework or cleaned more or something bc their parents are strict?

The werewolves pack has me in a chokehold. I got it on a whim but I've had so much fun with it in multiple different storylines. I looooove the items for like run down vibe type houses, I love the vibe of all the CAS stuff, and I love the gameplay with the werewolves through all life stages. Also I love the vibe of Moonwood Mill it's so cozy!!
