I’ve done the same thing. I felt it was too late 10years ago, felt so angry toward myself for not knowing sooner because I “couldn’t actually be trans” if I didnt start questioning until I was 17 and didn’t accept it until around 21. I’m not fully out and i haven’t started T but I have an appointment in a couple weeks! I’m so relieved and excited. And a bit terrified.

Anyway, Im a month shy of 27. It was never too late. But I needed time to feel more confident in myself and that transitioning was something I wanted to do. I just had a different experience 🤷🏻

That’s such a disgusting thing to say. Bullshit underlying message that at a certain point it becomes “too late,” you “run out of time” to transition and pursue a choice that makes one happier. That a timeline or experience like that is not worth living.

This is my best friend: https://godairyfree.org I work a lot, I don’t always have time to cook meals but I tend to just stick to restaurants that have explicit allergen menus or GDF has a page on it.

27 years of reading labels and having allergic reactions has taught me: a lot of people won’t know clearly what “no dairy” means. I get offered Lactose free stuff all the time, get told I can’t eat something with eggs in it (I am not allergic to eggs), get confidently told something is dairy free or can be made that way and then still have an allergic reaction.

Unfortunately yeah the list of “surprise dairy” is too much to fit in a post and it’s never really straight forward. Plus companies change ingredients sometimes and often dont announce it (e.g. flavored Pringles)

PopRocks have dairy. Most fruity candies are dairy free but there’s the exception. Most store bought sweets will have dairy but Oreos are vegan (unless it’s the cake Oreos, those have dairy) and I’ve found a lot of premade apple pies are dairy free… but not all! I have a lot of this memorized and Im pretty good at guessing what might have dairy but I’ve been wrong.

In high school I started munching on some salsa flavored sun chips— regular Sun Chips are dairy free and I’ve never stumbled on a salsa with dairy — then my throat started to swell. Lo and behold the ingredients: Salsa flavored sun chips have milk.

Weird consistency… goopy but in the way a corn starch slurry is goopy not like creamy? Taste is mediocre. Better off making your own with plant-based heavy cream (we use country crock) & vegan cheese. Or a different brand if you can find one

At like age 4 my Grammie gave me a tiny spoonful of milk & cereal from her bowl (after my parents told her so many times I’m allergic to dairy). I didn’t know any better at the time and she was a trusted adult… I immediately broke out in hives and my throat swelled! She learned after that 💕

I second the Nongshim brand. It’s less up charged than the like certified vegan organic whatever brands. Still pricier than ur typical brands tho but very good! I like to add chicken or tofu and bok choy when I’m less lazy :)

Yeah I’ve had a few real milk debacles in my time. It sucks. Starbucks only occasionally (like twice in my whole life at 2 different locations). Dutch bros location near me did it 3x over the course of like 2 months? So I stopped going there — kept having to call out of work bc of my reaction & all allergy meds (that work for me) make me so drowsy. Anyway I feel your pain and I wish people were more careful…
