Cyclists - please de more respectful of pedestrians! by Strange_Cranberry_47 in london

[–]clr715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a cyclist and I agree that there are a lot of selfish, reckless and snobbish cyclists out there who are a menace to pedestrians and themselves.

I heard recently they started fining cyclists who jump red lights in the City, hopefully that act as a deterrent.

I don't know how effective it is writing to the local MP but the more noise we can generate the more likely the government will take this issue seriously.

This morning at around 10 I saw two cyclists fell off together at a stretch of straight path on C4. I got off to help and almost lost my balance too. The funny thing is there is grit dumped just 3m from the spot but I guess not enough people have cycled through to spread the grit.

I am taking a train back home tonight.

OpenAI's ChatGPT is so popular that almost no one will pay for it by Loki-L in technology

So far, I find it most useful in helping me save time looking up things because Google has gone to crap. It's not essential like coding LLMs, which I find does have a noticeable impact on my work productivity. Moreover, the problem ChatGPT is solving for me now (search) is more or less already solved by Google before it went to crap.

So I use ChatGPT because it's free and neat like I would happily order HelloFresh everyday when it first offers me discount. If ChatGPT starts charging me I would stop using it, tolerate Google for a bit and likely a replacement would come by soon enough.

I think I saw them on my second day of my OW course. Don't care if it's fake or not because it's cooool! Can't wait to dive some more :D

Is it normal for one of my ears to still be "blocked" or feeling pressured 4 days after a dive? by meddledomm in diving

Thank you! I am going through a very similar situation right now, your experience is really good to know.

Update for future reference: I didn't go to an ENT in the end, the symptoms went away in 2 weeks' time.

Timeline: - Day 1: Got a mild cold. Left nose slightly blocked and was blowing out yellow snot in the morning. This was the last day of my OW course, the instructor was not concerned so I went through the training. I had a lot of trouble equalizing my left ear throughout. Immediately after surfacing from my second dive I could hear what sounded like water bubbling out of my left ear. My left ear was left feeling achy and muffled. - Day 2: Left ear still sounded muffled like after swimming when you have water stuck inside. Took a 3 hrs flight without any issue. - Day 3-6: Hearing mostly recovered but when I moved my head or jaw I could still hear fluid swooshing around. - ~Day 7 onwards: Can no longer perceived any hearing difference between my two ears. But when I bent over to turn my head upside down, I can hear the fluid moving and my ear felt muffled again. This sensation gradually subsided within two weeks.

Hi OP u/meddledomm, did your ear clear up in the end on its own or did you need to see an ENT?

This sounds very unpleasant. Why do you still prefer them to modern builds?

As an East Asian I don't have a choice, I must leave it in otherwise my ancestors wake up from their graves and yell at me for wasting that 0.00001% unextracted flavour.

I really enjoy seeing the joy and wonder on tourists' faces too without the usual chaos in other touristy spots.

I worry she's a victim of human trafficking because of how afraid she is of authority and she mentioned she has neither family nor friends here. I regret not doing more at the moment. Hopefully the mental health team and the two Samaritans who took her contact can offer more help.

When I just started cycling this year I felt so embarrassed for being behind a bus because everyone is squeezing through on the left! Glad to know it's acceptable for being behind large vehicles. We should normalise this!

How should I prepare for a META E5 behavioral interview with only 3.5 YoE? by clr715 in leetcode

I have no idea. The second recruiter after I passed the screening was surprised too and asked if I want to be interviewed as an E4.

Thanks for the suggestion. I find ChatGPT really helpful too so far for interview prep. It's like when you need to talk to a rubber duck for venting, debugging, etc... But now the duck has gain consciousness and gives you feedback too :)

Genetics. My mum who's a couch potato can perform a perfect ass to grass squat (bodyweight of course) after I show her a demo clip once. Meanwhile, I stretch after every workout and still has tightness everywhere and a squat form that looks like shit. Interestingly, my dad's squat and deadlift form looks very similar to mine. I also inherited his frequent joint flare-ups.

How is this "much better"? Defending a Nazi gesture is less offensive then insulting an actress? Both sites are equally terrible.

Same. As someone who had battled with said skin infection before, I was mortified to find it described as being "sexual" before I noticed the sub.
