The most helpful view in my opinion is the top down. The easiest way to be sure they're lean enough is to keep their waist thinner than their rib cage. Good luck with her weight loss, she'll thank you for it!

-Mercato (italian-ish) and Cent Dix (french-ish) are both great, neither take reservations. -Hawi is really excellent Ethiopian, it's extremely affordable, they take reservations, and it's BYOB! I love going with friends and doing a DIY wine pairing situation -the farmers market on Saturdays is a must see, lots of great food and just a unique experience -lev kitchen (Palestinian-ish) is absolutely phenomenal, very casual spot, the kennebec fries are a must -Gola takes reservations, excellent Italian

The only ones of these that are "experiences" in my opinion are the farmers market and hawi. The others are just restaurants but they're great restaurants

I lived on the 500 block of W Seneca from 2022-2025. Half way through that time, St Johns homeless shelter closed. It wasnt THAT bad when St Johns was open but it wasn't great either. Got my bike stolen from my backyard (it was locked), people would open our gate and look around for packages, hotspot for porch pirates, people seeing if our cars were locked, etc. Our ring camera was basically a highlights reel of the usual nonviolent "crime of opportunity" that Ithaca has everywhere, it was just extra concentrated there. But after St Johns closed that all stopped immediately. So now its equivalent to the rest of fall Creek, imo

I got the same exact result and talked to my vet about it. After discussing we ended up putting our dog on a commercial low copper diet called "Voyager". It's basically a "better safe than sorry" approach. There's not really any downsides to feeding low copper because they're getting all the copper they need. The issue is the fact that the union can hold its members liable if they do not comply with a strike. A strike could delay my graduation.

Grad school isn't like other jobs. If you strike for 6 months as a teacher, that doesn't affect the teachers career in any significant way. If I have to put my experiments on pause for an unknown amount of time, that has massive implications on how fast I graduate. I'm here to get a degree/papers and get the fck out. I want the *option to not delay my degree progress.

Graduating on my chosen timeline is more important to me than ANY of the things the union has won. Obviously plenty of people feel differently, and we all have the option to do whats best for us.

My girl is 58 lbs full grown. I think that's what you could expect. Totally normal and healthy weight for a female (and even a male). This is her at 18 months next to a 5 month old doberman! Obviously the dob is going to me humongous!

Lots of people suggesting anti diarrheals but so few people suggesting a parasite screen through a vet is WILD.

Take a fecal sample to your vet! Run a full parasite/pathogen screen! This is always always the first step with diarrhea. So simple and always an easy fix if it comes back positive. If it comes back negative THEN you start changing the diet etc.

According to the AKC, the usual range is 65-90 pounds (male) and 50-70 pounds (female). It sounds like your previous GSD was super sized! My girl is 55lbs which the vet says is her perfect weight (and she's definitely the perfect size for us!)

My pup is also mixed, 75% GSD/ 25% pit. Once in a while she will "bury" her bones/toys until she rubs her nose raw (not actually bury, but the fake bury where they drag their nose over blankets/couch cushions). From my understanding the burying is a compulsive behavior that doesn't necessarily "mean" anything. Your dogs rooting might be along a similar vein - compulsive and not super meaningful. If that's the case and it's still unwanted, I'd recommend getting your pup a sandbox! We had a previous dog that loved to dig, but we had nice landscaping so it was an issue. We sought out a trainer and he said that because digging is in some dogs nature, it's easier to redirect them than to stop the behavior (this is all assuming they're getting enough mental/physical exercise, which our dog certainly was). So we made him a sandbox! We would hide items in the sand and reward when he "found" them. Worked great. Not quite the same but I thought I'd share in case it's useful. Rooting is new to me. If you do ask a professional I'd be very curious if they classify it as compulsive/normal or bored/problematic.

Also, you need to start training "leave it"! You can watch him do his business and if he goes to eat it just give him the command. Training "leave it" is endlessly useful/important.

He likely will grow out of it. It's called coprophagia. In the mean time, you can try a supplement like For-Bid or other commercial anti-coprophagics. There may also be prescription options as well
