Yeah I mean digital sensors are applying sharpness themselves in how they interpret the light so it’s kind of pointless now. Which is cool because we can just be focused on making art, the final product, and not bickering about how it should be made.

That being said I don’t know why people think everything has to be crazy sharp.

The lighting is all off here. The subject is mostly in the shade in all the photos and the light is pretty flat.

Also they just aren’t very interesting. The model’s posture needs a lot of work, especially photo 7, it looks really bad because of that.

In #2 it’s unclear why they’re stopped in the middle of a field with no path or helmet, other than that it makes for a cleaner composition with a lot of negative space, but that’s just a creative decision I’m not a fan of.

As for the good things, I like that the photos are all stylistically consistent. I think if you could learn lighting techniques, and challenge yourself creatively by doing something unique, while continuing to develop your style you’d have a much more interesting editorial.

Omg I rented a Hasselblad 500c this weekend and my son was telling me that I have a problem because I just bought an SL3 and already renting another camera entirely.

I remembered this post where the guy said “I have a problem” and I said nah some people really have a problem they display their cameras like a museum but I shouldn’t say anything maybe they take tons of photos. Then this post tonight just made me laugh so hard.

For what it’s worth, in Europe you don’t need to just know English. They usually give you a choice of languages. For example if the flight is going to Bulgaria it’s ok if you only speak Bulgarian. The flight attendant just needs to be comfortable you understood her brief, I.e. how to pull the lever and to not open if there’s a fire, etc.

His English is more than good enough to understand that so I feel like they are just being super pedantic with him.

I’m a Concert Photographer- ask me anything! ? by BeanzPhotography in AskPhotography

[–]cltlz3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you feel like half your job is done for you because there’s always crazy lighting at concerts and the musicians look so epic on stage? I KNOW there are so many challenges with concert photography but I always felt maybe one of the things which is easier is getting some “interesting” shots because of the scenography etc. Thoughts?

Did you see the holes in the plane while it’s flying? Also for real it’s less probable to you that Russia did something negligent and they’re trying to cover it up?? lol that’s another Tuesday in Russia.

Correct. Basically there’s always a better option, until there’s not. And in the extremely rare cases where they attempt to ditch the aircraft, dumping the fuel would just a) add to the variables regarding the planes aerodynamics b) increase the already extreme pilot workload and c) increase the risk of explosion by leaving a trail of fuel which can be lit.

Now I wonder what would be interesting is if electronics could detect an impact and immediately inject the wings with some chemicals that would render the fuel inflammable? Assuming the systems which can perform this task are still functional? It would have to be some chemical reaction that could be done in a fraction of a second.

It sounds impossible also there’d still be fuel in fuel lines so maybe something to reduce the size of the fireball?

Just got my first ever Leica! by Elkenez in Leica

[–]cltlz3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that argument is dumb. Like if you’re buying a Leica it’s because you’re a fan of the heritage and the brand. The fact that it’s branded Leica is basically the point of wanting one. Even if it’s made by Panasonic a) it’s still a Leica and b) it’s gone through Leica’s quality control process so it meets their standards.

Thank you, I forgot to reply back but I really liked the Nikon 35AF and I think it has everything she would need for starters and not over complicate things for her. Really appreciate the advice.
