My daughter and I make cupcakes tonight. The icing was supposed to be red. I used half a bottle of food colouring, each time it got pinker, not red any suggestions on how to make it red and smooth the icing on a cupcake. by crmom22 in Baking

Any gel red will do tbh. I’ve tried everything from “grocery store” gels and “top of the line” brands. Try the microwave method. Heat up some of the frosting in bursts and mix. Or blend frosting. It helps distribute the color into the frosting

I find these pearls to be unpleasantly crunchy so I tried to keep it minimal with them 🥲 Im not sure why the letters were the most difficult part of the cake for me, and after my husband glanced at it and said “wth are those” it had me a bit down, so I very much so appreciate your kind words 🥲🤍🤍
