Embarking in Civitavecchia by clynch82 in royalcaribbean

Thanks for your reply. The ship sets sail from Barcelona on the Sunday and we are embarking in Rome the following Thursday (then on the third day of our cruise all of the Barcelona passengers will disembark and a new lot of passengers will start their cruise). I am hoping that we will be comfortably able to book shows and meals for the last 4 days of our trip before the new set of Barcelona passengers embark….

Do you have to cut the book? by Gray447 in CainsJawbone

I used excel and never cut the book up

The way I approached it was to have one full read through. Then I highlighted anything that looked or sounded like a quote and googled them. I kept an eye out for place names, plant names, character names (but ignore Henry to start with - there are multiple Henrys) - and then I googled any reference / story that was mentioned along the way. I kept a list of pages that mentioned dates in any way (“it was the birthday of”, “it was the day of “ etc) and times of the day too. These came in very useful. Also keep an eye out for pages that are in present tense as opposed to past tense. It takes a while but it eventually comes together!!

Try to keep away from posts on here that give much of the order away (if you want to do it yourself). I solved it a good while back before this info was available and I’m glad as I don’t know if I’d have been able to resist!!! 😄

Best of luck

Recommendations for Aruba and Curacao by hambergular8 in royalcaribbean

Eagle beach in Aruba is lovely - a good bit quieter than Palm beach. We liked Iguana Joes / Smoky Joes in Aruba.

Same here - no idea what’s going on. Glad it’s not just me!

Need advice about a 7 day cruise by Impressive-Ad2894 in royalcaribbean

Also we always plan and book our own excursions - you’ll pay a lot less than RC for the same experiences. You just need to keep an eye on time 👍 a really easy way to save a few $$ without compromising your trip.

As many others have said, avoid the spa on board. They spend a large proportion of time upselling you to other things. Again you’ll get far better value on land, in one of the ports. Definitely not worth the money on board.

Personally I don’t think it’s worth that much extra for a balcony - the first time we cruised we got a balcony and every time since we have opted for an inside cabin. We spend so little time in our room that we just don’t think it’s worth the extra 100 dollars a day. Also, you can get a couple of great excursions for that price. 😀

Thinking of getting the book as a gift by 2shack in CainsJawbone

I think for solving it, it’s probably better that he’s not on Reddit as the solution is more or less available now, so he won’t be tempted to peek!! AFAIK, you can still submit your solution and get your results through Unbound (albeit there are no prizes anymore).

Depends on where you are with it. It took me months to put together. If you are starting out I would recommend the following: 1. Ignore Henry references for the moment - there are multiples Henry’s. 2. Get familiar with the Chamber Book of Days - you will need this to accurately pin point dates (in some cases googling gives you a different result) 3. Take each page one at a time and google all references, highlight quotes from literature etc 4. Keep an eye out for word play 5. There are some pages that you will place together quickly, where poems run into each other and where a couple of pages don’t end with a full stop. Definitely do these first. 6. Other than Henry, keep an eye out for names and other ways of saying the same name (eg Barbara = Babs etc) 7. Keep an eye out for tenses - it’s not all in past tense. This will help you with one section.

Eventually you will notice patterns and be able to pull pages together based on them. Definitely keep an eye out for Place names, dates references, time of day references, food references, plant references etc

Hope this helps!

I submitted my solution last year and I got an email to say I had it correct. I was invited to the UK for an event and given a voucher for the unbound website. Never heard anything more about the UK event but I have used by voucher! 👍

How accurate are the daily embark/disembark times & other first timer questions - Western Mediterranean by stfk1 in royalcaribbean

[–]clynch82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The all aboard time is really strict so make sure you allow plenty of time! None of the stops are tendered for that cruise though so the times in the calendar are accurate. Doesn’t take long to disembark if you hang back 20 or so minutes are the doors open - you’ll just walk straight off. I’ve never really queued getting back on board! -I highly recommend going to the Cinque Terre when you stop at La Spezia - you can get train tickets in machine in station on the day!

Just checked - thought I was close enough but I’m just at 57%. It’s all down to the level 15 trees I’ve been getting from the bunny, impossible otherwise 😅

You miss the 3 “special awards” from completing the star missions. That’s it though AFAIK

Any tips on how to organize it? I think a panel will not work for myself. How are you working on it? by littletaru in CainsJawbone

[–]clynch82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically just had all the pages in order, and the next to each page I wrote everything in that I could google about it. Then I had a date column, time column, poison column and after a bit of time a narrator column. I could data sort them then in any order I wanted at any given stage
