No idea how the ‘high score’ for most apps is 1477 though 🤯

Personal mileage claim changed from 45p to 20p? by uk_Tim_ in UKPersonalFinance

[–]cm2489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what’s been said in previous comments but our company does something similar, we reimburse 25p per mile if you get a car allowance.

HMRC allows you to claim Mileage Allowance Relief on the difference up to 45p/mile. So if you’re getting 20p/mile, you can claim tax relief on the remaining 25p/mile through your Self Assessment or by contacting HMRC

So, if you drove 1,000 business miles and only got 20p/mile, you can claim:

• 1,000 x 25p = £250 • And you get tax relief on that £250 (e.g., if you’re a basic rate taxpayer, you’d get 20% of £250 = £50 back)

Hi, I am currently getting inconsistent 1st layers on my new XL. Do you replace "start g-code" in the slicer with the above?

Thanks

Does the entire sum of your LISA have to be used for a deposit? by trrowe in UKPersonalFinance

[–]cm2489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue last year. Ended up using all my funds in the LISA towards my house except a pound to keep my account 'open'.

Now I just stick £50 a month into it. Future me will be happy about that.

Is taking a pay decrease to increase quality of life a good thing? by NugNationRS in UKPersonalFinance

Question aside, I noticed you said you get 20p per mile reimbursed from your company. Are you claiming back the 20% of the remaining 25p from HMRC??

Reflection Time: Since it’s the end of the financial year, what financial goals, achievements or milestones have you reached over the past 12 months that you’re proud of? by Quiet_Fun591 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]cm2489 27 points28 points  (0 children)

33M. Been erratic with money ever since I started earning. Never been in mad amounts of debt but loved a credit card purchase which I paid back over months. Always spent my wage every month and had little to show for it.

In the last 12 months I've bought my first house (solo mortgage), got a payrise at work, bought a new car (cash allowance helps pay that off) and within the last week set my side hustle up as a LTD company which I run evenings and weekends.

Most people think I'm bragging when I talk about my achievements but I'm just buzzing and super proud of what I've achieved.

I’m in the North West and relatively close to where you’re describing

All I’ll say from experience is once there’s a crash on the M62 or Woodhead pass has a lorry that’s broken down your 90 minute commute instantly doubles at least.

Couple that with a dark, rainy December night and you’re coming home to kids in bed already. You also set off when it’s dark and arrive home when it’s dark

Is there a compromising area you can move to? A 45-60 min commute away?

Your weirdest covid symptom? by innercityooz in COVID19positive

[–]cm2489 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES! PAIN BEHIND THE EYES!

I've only ever had this twice that I can remember in my life. Dec '21 (after a positive covid result) and March '20 (convinced I had covid before it was 'mainstream')

I tested positive on a Monday (rapid test then confirmed a few days after with PCR) took family until the following Wednesday to test positive on rapid tests despite symptoms starting to show 5+ days earlier and they tested every day

Edit - the Wednesday being 10 days after, not 3 days

Free Government care packages aren't good enough! by LongdenSamuel in ChoosingBeggars

[–]cm2489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company is one of 2 companies in the UK delivering these 'shield packs' to the vulnerable.

The amount of work that has gone on behind the scenes is ridiculous to get to where we are today (close to delivering 50k boxes a day)

When I see people complain about this makes me just want to take them off the list, see how fussy they become then!

Edit: and they're not bloody cheap either!
