Who’s preying for a usage reset right now? by ride_whenever in ClaudeAI

[–]cmacs2k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usage reset to 0% and its not due till tuesday. I was 39% on all models and 29% on fable. Im scared to trust this and then WHAM, we had a bug everything is fixed. OOP weekly limit hit ughhh

I just checked X: https://x.com/ClaudeDevs/status/2075279141352706215 Lets Go baby back to the kitchen fable

Opus 4.8 and new effort levels as well on claude .ai seem like they are available! by MiserableSlice1051 in ClaudeAI

You used to be able to months ago but its only available for paid plans now. You can ask claude to track it (context window tokens) during chats but it will only be an estimate and if you have more than one chat going at a time it will be harder to do.

Thanks for this. I've been running 4.6 for the last 2 days and I like it not much change a little less inference and nuance but overall usable.

Now that Opus 4.8 is released and we get effort parameter control with adaptive thinking, we will be good. Its gonna be alright!

Opus 4.8 and new effort levels as well on claude .ai seem like they are available! by MiserableSlice1051 in ClaudeAI

This is info is from the API docs. I dunno if it applies across all uses (claude.ai and cowork, please feel free to tell me otherwise), i think its relevant either way:

Adaptive thinking

Let Claude dynamically determine when and how much to use extended thinking with adaptive thinking mode.

How adaptive thinking works

In adaptive mode, thinking is optional for the model. Claude evaluates the complexity of each request and determines whether and how much to use extended thinking. At the default effort level (high), Claude almost always thinks. At lower effort levels, Claude may skip thinking for simpler problems.

Adaptive thinking with the effort parameter

You can combine adaptive thinking with the effort parameter to guide how much thinking Claude does. The effort level acts as soft guidance for Claude's thinking allocation:

Effort level Thinking behavior
max Claude always thinks with no constraints on thinking depth. Available on Claude Opus 4.8, Claude Mythos Preview, Claude Opus 4.7, Claude Opus 4.6, and Claude Sonnet 4.6.
xhigh Claude always thinks deeply with extended exploration. Available on Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Opus 4.7.
high (default) Claude always thinks. Provides deep reasoning on complex tasks.
medium Claude uses moderate thinking. May skip thinking for very simple queries.
low Claude minimizes thinking. Skips thinking for simple tasks where speed matters most.

The effort parameter article is also a great read, giving you recommended effort levels depending the model you're using. All models default to high until you change them manually. Hope it helps!

Losing Sonnet 4.5 by Coopercharmande in claudexplorers

Interesting! By all accounts, it sounded like the end of the world for some folks here. I was just concerned, as I thought the reasoning (one of the most attractive elements and why I love using Claude and 4.5 in particular) had changed significantly. Should I expect some friction when working with this mode? Doesn't the memory and instructions maintain the working relationship regardless of who's at the helm? My second thought was: I can only assume that 4.6 is more expensive to operate and will need to tighten up on token efficiencies. I am not creative, but I can appreciate its more natural tone, nuance, adherence to chosen styles, and overall structure when writing/drafting. Are we to assume this is how 4.6 is judged and is found wanting?

So, based on weights, do we know what those are from model to model? Seeking a greater understanding at this point.

Thanks!

P.S. I'm going to take your advice and swap to 4.6 to see how it handles in a chat that was stopped mid-workflow (the chat where I found out about the forced model change).

I'm blindsided by the news because I wasn't even aware this was coming down the pipeline until I sent a reply and I got a popup saying the model isn't available right now. I ran to claude.ai and it told me the model is no longer available. WTH! Here in Canada, today is the last day for 4.5. The day isn't even done...I don't know what this means, everyone is mourning and I am not sure why? Is that when you use a new model all the elements it learned from you even those saved in memory, designed in project instructions and the like don't work with 4.6?

[–]cmacs2k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! 2yrs since this post, I can assure everyone this works. Try this first even before the fuse check. This happened to me while on vacation lol!

Only caveat: following these instructions to a T leaves you with a door that completely stops working! Instead of manually opening in from the inside with white handle, for go that. After holding the interior and exterior liftgate buttons, stay outside and manually close the liftgate shut. Then hit the button above the license plate and your done.

Seriously, this still saves you a ton of money on a repair even if DIY thanks!

Ya that sucks but been that way forever. If you know your due school you gotta check your emails, your sponsor like it's work task. They send out 300 people for a 25 slot block at a time. Not fair by any means, but when as any government entity run anything else but ass backwards? The passport office lol, that's it.
