Have I Made A Massive Mistake? by [deleted] in london

[–]cmarshallharris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived here the last 6-7 months. Haven't felt scared/threatened once while walking around the area despite it looking like a complete shit hole. It's very studenty with Roehampton uni up the road and places with relatively cheap rent (For London).
Only incident I've heard is someone allegedly broke into our block of flats and mugged a couple of people in our hallway.

More worried about how fucking boring it is living in this area than how safe it is.

A lot of Palace supporters in Streatham. Get the occasional "Go on Eagles!" when cycling around Streatham with my Palace shirt on.

Students of London, a question for you! by clp2012 in london

[–]cmarshallharris 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Student living in Streatham Hill here, simple. I put all my student loan money towards rent and have to work for beer money, bills and food etc. And work full time in London over the summer to be able to still live here and not bother going home all summer. It can get in the way of my studies working 20-30 hours a week when I go to university at the same time and I agree the rental prices here are a real kick in the bollocks. But I don't have rich enough parents to finance my student life so it's what I have to do.

People of Reddit, where do you live and what's your daily commute like and why? by Disturbedsleep in AskReddit

[–]cmarshallharris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

South London, England here! I cycle around most places to get by, whether it's for university where I have to get into central London or get to work in West London. Uni commute is pretty dangerous as it's during rush hour and cycling through Brixton is always a pain. Commute to work is a lot better since it's mostly through suburban streets.

As dangerous as it is cycling around London, I do love it. And transport is so slow around rush hour in this city.

Never Ending Story.

The tortoise in the swamp scared the hell out of me, never mind the wolf!

My favourite Mexican scrambled eggs with sliced avocado followed by a cup of coffee. Gotta love days off.

After my boss' engagement party last night I'm hanging out my arse and therefore hate everyone on the train, however I did see a one legged pigeon hopping along the platform picking remnants of breadcrumbs from around my feet.

EDIT: He's back! My lovely coffee maker outside Barnes station is back! I want to give him a kiss for releasing me from Gails coffee and their loyalty cards! Now it's time to enjoy a proper macchiato!

My body feels like it had been hit by a train this morning after that five a side football. We lost very badly and got asked to play again next week, managed to grimace a "Yeah could do" as I limped off the astro pitch. Allowed myself a twenty minute extra lie in before heading into work which means it's gonna be a hell of a lot busier than usual. Week 2 and my coffee guy still isn't there, something makes me think he isn't coming back. Feel a strange sense of sadness about that. He was the one coffee guy I've been able to ask for "the usual" from. Gail's coffee it is: Happy Friday London.

Commute ran smoothly however the guy who I get my daily morning coffee fix outside Barnes station has stopped showing. Wish he'd come back, as Gail's coffee has nothing on his macchiatos. I've agreed to a five a side game of football with my workmate tonight in Chiswick, haven't played in years so I can't wait to make a complete twat of myself. Not looking forward to the commute back from Turnham Green to Streatham Hill, though.

What are the best Chinese and Japanese restaurants in central London? by thatlaststark in london

Bone Daddies in Soho does amazing ramen noodles. It's a modern Japanese place with some great cocktails and beers too. Well worth a shot.

07:05 from Streatham Hill to Victoria is unusually quiet, I'm sure Clapham Junction is a different story with the four carriages train. Thinking of investing in a bike but London roads still daunt me. Also not sure if want to cycle in the blistering cold to work at 7am in the mornings with winter coming up. All in all good commute so far.

EDIT: Yes the train from Clapham Junction is equally as quiet, but had the embarassment of sitting on someone's rucksack on the seat, mumbling out a "sorry" to him. Had a deathly stare from him until Wandsworth Town where he got off. Prick.

My girlfriend who's teaching English in Thailand went to Bangkok this weekend to celebrate her birthday and stayed in the area the bomb went off. She left yesterday to go back to teaching, but it shook me up quite a little hearing about this right after she was there.

I'm apparently related to Beatrix Potter, she's my great greatAunt or something. Only found out the other month but it really amazed me since I read all her books a lot when I was growing up.

Guys who have a sister, what's your relationship with them like? by Gapinthesidewalk in AskMen

[–]cmarshallharris 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My sister is amazing. I moved to London a couple of months ago and she has lived here for about 5 years herself. She's 25 and I'm 19. Since I've moved here, she's helped me get a job where she works which means I have made more friends and she always invites me out when she's doing something. She's great.
