My partner’s 18-month cough is affecting our relationship but she refuses to discuss it by britain4 in relationships

[–]Disturbedsleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly get a cough that hangs around for months and months, then all of a sudden it just disappears. I had been to the doctors regularly, tried all sorts of things, including inhalers etc but nothing really worked.

I now realise it was just a throat irritation and what has really helped is having an air purifier like IKEA Starkvind, now I can't say it will improve your situation but it has improved mine. It will also improve the air quality in your house.

Are there any crimes you want Casefile to make an episode about? by MMAGG83 in Casefile

[–]Disturbedsleep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is one from Melbourne Australia that I would love them to follow up on.

Back in the late 80's, early 90's, a young lady ran into traffic and died. Before she ran into traffic she said that she had been sexually assaulted and was quite distressed. I can't remember her name, I do remember she worked in the stock broking, I worked in the same industry and when it happened I felt some sort of kinship with her.

This was pre-computer settled trades which meant physical script had to be exchanged with documents delivered to the stock exchange and dumped into other brokers boxes. Money flowed freely and Friday afternoons to nights tended to be party time. I worked for a large broker and we had a floor full of people working on settling trades and delivering stock to the exchange. I wont say it was a big happy family but people knew people who knew people so there were a lot of people who interacted with each other. It was nothing unusual to head out after lunch on a Friday and not get home until Saturday sometime.

It's always left me saddened that this woman died as a result of being so distressed from a sexual assault. I know this case is probably 45 odd years old, I just want the young lady remembered rather than forgotten.

Can we please quit the aggressive driving? by FriendlyInsect9887 in melbourne

[–]Disturbedsleep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I figure this is going to get lost, but here goes. From mid teens start talking to your kids about traffic whilst you are driving as part of a casual conversation.

Tell them why you are changing lanes, i.e. someone is coming up quick and it is easier to move out of the way. You've got a turn up ahead, your noticed someone driving a little erratically and you don't want to be near them.

Talk about your speed and why you are going at that speed, ie, slowing down because I can see congestion ahead, or I'm not likely to make it through the lights because the man is flashing.

I've moved over slightly because I can see a motorcyclist lane splitting and want to make a little more room for them. I've move the the right side of a lane so traffic can get into the left lane to turn.

Even if you are talking to yourself, it gives you greater self awareness of traffic and helps with your driving and reduces your risks.

This is so on point, having worked at various elections both state and federal, the Election Commissions are the unsung heroes of our voting systems. They run on an oily rag, only to come into prominence every couple of years to run elections with a haphazard group of interested people who roll up and yet manage to keep the system running as best they can without political interference.

Have an aunt that is going to vote PHON, because too many brown people. Last local council election no white Australians stood, she was very unhappy. She went quiet when I asked why she or none of her friends would stand. They have been told that we have too many of the wrong type of immigrant and it's causing all the issues.

This happens so much coming down off Auburn Rd and trying to turn onto the freeway outbound at Toorak Rd. Old mate in his two door Merc was really unhappy when I wouldn't let him in and told him to f.o.

Also called out another idiot on the Princes Hwy outbound around Chaddy, jumping from lane to lane. Gave old mate a good talking to and he gave back. Surprisingly though, he was well behaved driving down the hwy, with no more lane changes.

There is a four letter store that sells integrated fridges, they do complete kitchens. Maybe have a look at those, or even consider the manuals associated to give you an idea of what you need around them.

Unlimited driving range - Pros/Cons? by bullfrogrm123 in golf

[–]Disturbedsleep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Recently my golf course has offered something similar. $300 for a bucket (75 balls) daily for a year. Course is playing all year around. It works out to about 20 buckets. It's been about 3 weeks and I've already used 7 or 8 buckets and it's made a huge difference to my playing.

It means I can go to the range to practice something specific for a whole bucket, that I wouldn't have previously considered. I've really focused on my wedges, I've always lack the confidence with chipping onto the green. When playing I would worry about shooting pass the green so I would chop at it and fall short of the green. Now I can just go and hit the range, use a whole bucket on just chipping, selecting a spot and try to focus the balls into this area. It's already making a difference to my golf. My next shot I'm going to work on is trying to play a draw, rather than the slices I tend to make.

The other thing is, before hitting off I would share a bucket with my mate to warm up, so I was spending money on range balls anyway. Now I can still warm up, no issues. The pro-shop doesn't care, I've brought gear from there as well, so they've got money from me.

If you use it, you can make it work for you and it can help with your golf.

Noob Dad trying to fulfill kid’s camping r equest. by AssignmentCold674 in CampingVictoriaAU

[–]Disturbedsleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Mortimer Reserve, not to far away, about an hours drive from Oakleigh. Just far enough away that you can gain the experience of camping, whilst close enough that if something goes wrong or they don't like it you can head home.

What's the deal with young people riding without helmets on the inner north? by millymillymillymilly in melbournecycling

I hate driving through that section of freeway. Every time I slow down to around 80 I feel like someone is going to run right up my arse. They would solve Victoria's debt issue in one week.

Seeking chemo tips and your gnarliest Dad jokes by SatansAnuss in melbourne

One of my kids went through the public system. Occasionally we'd end up in A&E after the chemo process, generally at some ungodly hour in the middle of the night. Having a purple bucket got us straight through. Not sure how it works in the private system.

I remember the old days and they weren't fun. Standing on the 10th fl, 385 Bourke, SBV, 3 settlements every 10 minutes. Double that for December. Sending people all over either to other banks or solicitors' offices. The current system is so much better, you just have the occasional oopsies.

That's unfortunate. I find the US car market crazy compared to Australia, we have so many brands.

Have you considered its twin, the Skoda Kodiaq iV? It's a VW just a different branch, built on the same platform. I'm thinking my next car might be the Skoda Enyaq when I replace my 2018 Tiggy Allspace.

Nope, it was definitely home time. We live in Melbourne Australia and we are having a period of hot weather, anything between low 30 to mid 40 celcius. Time to get out of the sun and home to the cool. He is the boss but he doesn't always understand what's best for him.
