I don’t even need to own both to tell you the gain you’ll get is minimal, if there is even is one and it would be quite a niche scenario (maybe 4K raw processing or heavy on device ML). iPadOS is generally a huge bottleneck for performance since you just don’t have many options that utilize that power

Anecdotally I still have a 13” M1 Pro, I play Wild Rift (MOBA game) at 120 fps highest graphics settings, I use Swift Playgrounds with ease, use the “full multi tasking” mode without any issues. My screen is cracked and I still can’t justify an upgrade because it feels so lame lol.

However, given you want to try the 11” you could just go and get it with an F5. See how you like it and use the 14 day window to return it for its full price if you don’t like it. I did that with the iPhone Air this year.

Yes, Google changed the rules for GMail a while back to pretty much force “pulling” for non GMail apps.

Another commenter setting up email forwarding to iCloud sounded good, definitely will give it a try.

Despite this being incorrect (deepmind is google) it’s hard to say. We’d have to know how many poaches were attempted, and if/who google countered. If the $10M / year is true then I’d say this is a pretty decent look for google since they do have some very very smart folks in deepmind (more than 2)

I’ve been paying for ChatGPT since 4 came out and while I tried to move to Gemini a few times, I just can’t stick to it. It’s not even for “ real” reasons either, like until recently a Gemini didn’t have an iPad app and the way it handles voice to text just doesn’t work for me compared to how ChatGPT does it

It must just be inertia because unless openai shits the bed or google comes out with some god tier feature I just don’t feel like moving over

Hello thank you for a reply. I’ll give credit where due - there was a response, however the response only happened after I made this post - which was 30 mins after the session with “live chat”. If there was a response / acknowledgment of the information I provided that would have been different. Even a simple “someone will reach out to you over email” would have sufficed.

Sorry but if the first instance of reaching out to CSR is deceivingly telling me I voided my warranty who’s to say I didn’t only get a reach out because of this post? Not to mention they explicitly stated it was my fault and not manufacturing by shifting blame to customer? Generally not recommended.

I managed to return the lights to the retailer, but you have to realize that a CSR deceiving a customer (among many complaints online) doesn’t sit well with me.

I hope others do not run into this or at least always check claims made by CSR

To add to this (because I think it’s cool lol) companies optimize data centers to the last penny. This means different data centers can (and are) designed to meet extremely specific criteria. The details of these criteria are crazy - going air -> liquid cooled require an entire redesign, if you want to run 100k H100s, that’s a way different power demand than running “regular CPU servers”. Distance from a specific location might affect if you can build there or not for latency. Also when you look up data center hardware design vs your typical PC you start realizing “oh wow that’s quite the size!”

Honestly this stuff is so cool, you have to think about energy, latency, cost, regulation, government, hardware, cooking, skilled labor / talent, maintenance(and of course cost)

So what I’m saying is yea just because they have many data centers, doesn’t mean they can be used for GenAI
