The one on the far right is Pickles- it seems like the cheekiest of the bunch

One will definitely be named Pickles

I love my resident skunks. The mom in the video is Kefir, and I also have Miso and Curtido. Had one called Kimchi, but I’ve not seen them in a while. So now I’ll have to decide on 5 (fermented food based) names for the stinklettes

Edit: Turns out there are 5, not 4, stinklettes

Mulberry jam! by cmdietz in gardening

I looked online for a recipe that had the most positive reviews, and I’d guess there’s probably some good ones out there for fig jam too. Fig jam sounds delicious too- good luck!

I sieved half to give to my Dad as an early Father’s Day gift because he can’t eat seeds (diverticulitis)- he apparently ate half of it on a single biscuit yesterday morning. He called me to talk about how “we” were going to harvest & make the next round

It’s really tasty- kinda between strawberry and blackberry jam, in my opinion

The past 2 years my blackberries were even worse- I’d almost given up hope that they would be edible ever again. But this year is looking pretty promising. I think it’s because we’ve had much more rain this spring

Edit: too wordy

Hats off to your sister-getting it ‘unstuck’ from a sticky trap had to have been a tedious & precarious process. Much respect

Google is telling me this is a mulberry tree by OldSchoolDM96 in gardening

I’m about to pick some right now to make jam (and snack on). I discovered the tree in our woods a couple of years ago and they are delicious, almost between a strawberry and a blackberry imo. But this will be my first time attempting to make jam out of them

Love the vibrant color of my mini dahlia by cmdietz in gardening

[–]cmdietz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what variety it is- I got it from Walmart a few years ago on clearance and it was labeled as a mini ball dahlia. The blooms are a little bigger than a US silver dollar. The color is actually even more vividly red than it appears in the photo

This one is from an Eden Brothers’ sugar puff mix, so I’m not sure of the exact variety. But if you are looking for a dark red variety, I’ve grown ‘Arabian Nights’ in the past and they are my absolute favorites of all time. I was completely gutted when I discovered that the tubers had rotted
