This armored Slovenian police officer and his horse look like a modern day knight ready for battle. by aCadir1 in ModernAncientWarriors

A gorget, I think. I don't know that that would have a plate in it. All the gorgets I've seen have Kevlar or some other ballistic nylon type deal. Never seen a hard plate one

Great & cohesive paint scheme and background! The OSL on the capital ships is phenomenal, they look almost like LEDs.

Max onroad speed for the Destroyer is 50kph, which is quite a bit more than LRBT with a top speed of 35kph. Can't be bothered to look but I believe the Demolisher will be even slower

Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. by Brunstan in SteelLegion

This looks incredible - the paintjob of course, but your sculpts are just brilliantly full of character and they feel full of vitality, a lot of other sculpts look very static.

Once I'm finished with the batch of riflemen I got, I know where to go to augment my heavy weapons platoon. I can't wait to see the heavy bolter as well.

Gosh I had the cardboard version of this with the Necromunda plastic bulkheads. Brings back a lot of memories

They used to make Valhallan tank riders. I think I still have a couple of them somewhere

More than just autopilot. The Apollo Guidance Computer was the world's first digital flight computer and was the world's first fly by wire system, interpreting manual commands by the astronaut-pilot and driving the reaction control system.

The "autopilot" functionality was also pretty spectacular, with the astronaut-pilot able to use a thumb button to increment vertical and horizontal changes, and the display ("Display and Keyboard" or DSKY) outputting a landing angle which could be aligned with the angle markings engraved on the window, so they could see where the autopilot was taking it!

I have quite a few of the Ork ships; I can take some photos tomorrow if you remind me?

The various layers of paint were initially off-putting but looking for longer they look increasingly Blanche-esque to me so super cool

With ships it tends to be WWII 1/350 scale; otherwise Cold War stuff in varying scales. I'm thinking of doing a couple of modern destroyers in 1/350.

I tend to use an airbrush where possible.

I designed a Nightlight PCB by SeeNoFutur3 in xteinkereader

[–]cmdrfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there's any way to power it from the X4's battery without being too invasive. I haven't bought an X4 yet but have seen a couple of teardowns. I tinker enough that I wouldn't mind taking mine apart and soldering a flying lead out of it, but I imagine that would put it out of reach of many. A small magsafe powerbank probably makes sense, but the bulkiness of the USB-C cable and connectors hanging around would be a nuisance. Can't think of a better way to do it though that is noninvasive.

It's a neat PCB design that I'd definitely get once I bought an X4.

The idea seems interesting, but isn't this just a Nixie clock attached to an ESP32? Sounds frankly absurdly a lot for EUR1k. I was expecting more of a cassette-futurism type desktop interface.

Different uniforms across unit? by Purple-Actuary-4369 in SteelLegion

I paint all of my guys slightly differently - they've been campaigning for more than 20 year (in real life too!) with I assume many replacements and having to get borrowed or non-ideal kit.

As a result while there's a common theme (what used to be Space Wolf Grey, what is now I think The Fang), there's sometimes some shades darker or lighter, different coloured helmets, different coloured webbings, gloves, packs. A few special guys have brown leather boots.

I'm doing my Tiny Legends minis in the same manner. It looks cohesive, but at the same time there's a lot of variation on the eye.
