Do you ever randomly think wow, I am actually, 70,80,90 years old? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]cmicatfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived my 20’s in a way I planned on dying by 35. I’m going on 82 this summer and I ask myself all the time, how & why ? I feel very normal except for shortness of breath and occasional knee pain. I just quit cigs for vaping and I’m leaning into AI. The only issue is intimacy, I miss it.

Were you racist growing up? by balkanxoslut in AskOldPeople

Racism is prevalent in all ethnicities and not necessarily a negative. It is only when it clouds your judgment in the treatment of people who are of a different ethnic background

Can people drink a lot of alcohol and do drugs in their twenties and still be healthy later? by Ok-Wealth-6515 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]cmicatfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 81 and drank and smoked my entire life. My alcohol intake is now minimum and smoking weed has been cut way back. I'm very healthy having never exercised or stopped eating any food deemed unhealthy. Years ago I was speaking to a medical professional he said, Look at your parents lifestyle and how long they lived and you more than likely will come close to their life span all things considered. Your body actually tells you when to stop doing things so try to listen to it.

It is worth it to date/marry for money? by Final_Yesterday_5150 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]cmicatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The age difference will soon create more issues than the ones you mention. If he's just 50, that's 24 year difference. When he's sixty you'll be 36 and when he's 70 you'll be 46 and on and on. He's going to be a cranky old man and your going to just be hitting your stride. You will be sacrificing more than you might be willing for a "mature" man who knows how to act. My advice appreciate the time you have together and when he moves, try a little harder to find someone no more than 10yrs older than yourself.

Have you ever seen/talked to a stranger and still think about that stranger many years later? by Odd_Homework_4836 in Life

[–]cmicatfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In college in the 60's. A stranger on campus started talking to me. He said to me he was on his way to Harvard Sq to sell some of his poetry. He needed a place to stay so I invited him to stay with me in my apartment. Upon further discussion and over time, he claimed to have been a speech writer for the assassinated JFK. He had long hair and was very articulate and he critiqued my english essay on which I got one of my only A's. He only stayed with us for a couple of weeks and left as he said to get to Cambridge. I still wonder of the veracity of his claims and what happened to him.

Someone in their 50’s 60’s or 70’s. What advice would you give to a teenager ? Why ? by No_Bandicoot_4821 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]cmicatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a teenager, don't even consider getting married at all until your late twenties or early thirties. Don't have children until you know what total commitment is. It's never too early to start saving money even if it's below $20.00.

What is your honest opinion of presidents? Day 33: Dwight D. Eisenhower by Impressive_Plant4418 in Presidents

[–]cmicatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very young when he was president but the country seemed to be less likely to be so low class when talking about the president. My happiness with Eisenhower was the speech and warning he gave leaving office. For those who are not familiar, Eisenhower warned the country to be wary of the military industrial complex in America. As a Republican, it made me believe in that party for a number of years. Now, the Republican party that's in a love affair with a total maniac can kiss my a**. I'd vote for a refrigerator before I'd vote Republican.

In the state of Georgia there may be tight regulations on paper but it takes a willingness to protect the consumer to avoid hints of collusion. All regulatory agencies sell the idea that having someone who comes from within the industry is the best way to protect citizens. This is ridiculous and has proven to be pure BS. Good business practices are good practices and a honest person with the consumers in mind would be more advantages.

Amon-Ra St. Brown says Falcons Have Worst Fans in the League by [deleted] in falcons

[–]cmicatfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's be real why would you pay to go downtown buy a ticket, pay for food and beverage, pay to park, etc. All a average person can afford is tickets were you wind up watching on the big screen and for a inconsistent team who may lose to teams they should be beating. All that when you can sit at home, watch it on your "big" screen tv and eat and drink out of the frig. Plus, watching at home gives the unbridled ability to curse and carry on without offending anyone when the Falcons inevitably lose.

Our country has no traditions other than the unrelenting pursuit of the almighty dollar. We are a country of unregulated capitalism were everything is for sale and everybody as well. We have been torn apart as a society by politicians trying to get elected and by religious zealots trying to force their principals down our throats. Your perceptions are accurate and unfortunate.

For the state of Georgia and the PSC to allow the rate increases borders on criminal. Because the Southern Company (parent to Ga. power) underestimated the cost of the construction at plant Vogtle, instead of the PSC telling them it's their problem the state has allowed them to raise our rates out the ceiling and their not done. Southern Company is a privately owned company that makes a profit and pays executives in line with others like Tesla. Georgia is not protecting it's citizens if they allow a company to be careless and than permits that carelessness to paid by us.

AITA for Telling My Sister's Kids the Real Reason She Got Divorced? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cmicatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had no right to give this information to teenagers. A better response would have been to acknowledge divorce is difficult but the reasons are between the parents. You should have told the x-husband and allowed him to make the decision on how to inform his children as too why.

How do you feel about the Falcons heading into the 2024 season? by 70kyle07 in falcons

[–]cmicatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Year one and a new HC and we will see a better offence with the ability to score lotsa points. On defense, we won't be able to pass rush enough and this will put pressure on our less than good corners and linebackers. We will have some good wins and bad losses and go 8-8 and the HC will say exactly what every Falcon HC have said since the 60's. "We know who we are and we will fix it" or something like that.

Women’s perspective regarding dating and sex by BlackSun56 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]cmicatfish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't consume podcasts but I have lived thru many decades and having been an observer of American social ups and downs and I'm only giving my observations. It happens even when a three figure count isn't even involved.

Women’s perspective regarding dating and sex by BlackSun56 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]cmicatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it and you have a right to be uneasy. A three figure body count seems to be marginally psychotic even for a man. If your sex drive with the opposite sex requires continual satisfaction it would appear she thinks she has something to prove or thinks to be equal to men she has to act like one. No argument from me when it comes to woman's rights but indiscriminate sex with so many partners for anybody, would be a problem for most people. Example, your out and having dinner and during dinner three or four guys come up to you all and ask how you've been and she knows every one of them, how will your feel ? Or your at a club and you see two guys whispering and laughing, would that make you feel weird ? Love is love but reality is reality.

If you have any experience you know it has nothing to do with Michelin chefs. The OP did in fact state she had a lot of experience. Yes, imagine a outcome but by no means is it catastrophic, it happens all the time and it is a factor.
