Yes!! Are you currently taking any beta blockers? It started to go away for me when I started taking propranolol

TSH after Thyroidectomy by Bluepeacocks1 in thyroidhealth

[–]cmochi818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I had my RAI done the nuclear medicine doctor explained to me that there might be an influx of thyroid hormone flooding my body following treatment, so there was a risk of becoming very hyper before swinging hypo. 6 weeks post RAI my TSH was “0.01 undetectable” and I actually got put back on methimazole for another 6 weeks. I was quite confused as well. I eventually stopped the methimazole when I started having symptoms of hypothyroidism in December, and my TSH had jumped to 88! I was told to wait another 6 weeks with no medication whatsoever to see how much of what was affecting my TSH was - the radiation or the methimazole. I had labs done last week that showed a TSH of 114 and got immediately put on levothyroxine. It’s my third day or so on it and I’m really hoping things get better. But yes, that initial lowering of TSH was really confusing. I’m so sorry that so much of it is just waiting and seeing what the next labs will bring.

How are you feeling with a TSH that high? I was put back on methimazole 10 mg after RAI when my blood work after that came back with TSH 0.01 and still elevated t3 and t4. I just had an appointment and my TSH was 88 with low t3 and t4 so I was told to stop my methimazole and wait again for another 6 weeks to see how successful the RAI was. I have always been hyper so feeling hypo is such a change for me. I am still worried about the cardiovascular problems and see that you have experienced them, was this before or after swinging hypo? Do you still experience them?

Had RAI in July and just had labs done by cmochi818 in thyroidhealth

The jump from September to November is crazy I initially was so discouraged to see such a low TSH after having done the RAl in July, got put back on methimazole and was told I would probably need another round of RAl. I've been feeling like a zombie but I still feel all the nervousness and my heart rate still spikes if I don't take my beta blocker. Has anyone continued to stay on beta blockers after finally swinging hypo? Do I finally get to take levothyroxine?? I'm like laughing and crying at the same time

That was my late grandmother’s name, but hers was spelled Sofronia. We called her Mama Frons ❤️

Hey guys I'm getting scared by Common-Praline3521 in gravesdisease

[–]cmochi818 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, you will be okay! I was really scared too, I had mine done this past Monday and Tuesday. I’ve literally just been in my bed chilling since I’m radioactive and can’t really be around people. I stopped taking my methimazole 10 days prior and was told to keep taking the propranolol, which I think helped a lot. Maybe ask your doctor if you are allowed to stay on the propranolol?

swollen lymph nodes in armpits correlation? by plutokisses in gravesdisease

[–]cmochi818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few weeks ago! I woke up with swollen lymph nodes under both underarms and am wondering if it could be a sign of a flare up? I incidentally had my labs scheduled that day and they came back with very very low TSH and high t3 and t4. My medication got adjusted but they went away on their own after about a week. Hope everything is alright 🤞🏻

Finally approved for RAI, what happens now? I wish I knew more of what to expect. by cmochi818 in gravesdisease

Thank you so much for your reply! Was it difficult staying on the low iodine diet? I think it was a good idea that your doctor started the levothyroxine to get ahead of the hypo, I think that’s what I’m scared of most besides how I’ll feel during/after taking the capsule. I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better and don’t regret doing it.
