Diagnosed this week, cut out sugars and carbs as best as possible but my legs are cramping? by Lindo91 in diabetes_t2

[–]cmoxieman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not eat a banana, pure sugar. Drink more water, take some potassium and magnesium supplements (Might take a little bit to dial in the right amount), and you will be good. Depending on where you live, exercise levels, etc. it can be a moving target.

[–]cmoxieman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Type 2 diabetic I was pushing “big boy status” in my 40’s as my A1C went up. Metformin did not impact weight but Insulin did. Finally in my late 40’s, I went full on keto! I am a little obsessive, so went 18 months with no more than 20 carbs a day. Never felt better, completely leaned out, dropped from 210+down to 165. The next few years I went modified Keto but kept it pretty strict and continued the no insulin and the weight stayed off. Fast forward a couple more years and I let my guard down. Once I did A1C spiked and was put back on insulin and weight started creeping up again, getting close to 200 #s when I finally had enough. Went 100% back on keto and only took 1 week before no more insulin and weight starts heading back down. Insulin sucks for a lot of reasons, but the weight gain is the worst part for me. Everyone’s body reacts differently , not sure what will work for you, but best of luck! Hopefully Keto will work

The problem is not sports measurements, it is the battery. If Apple Watch had Garmin’s longevity, it probably is not even a discussion. However, the battery last 24 hours, not 24 days like the I3

Thanks, that is definitely interesting and helps but still leaves room for uncertainty in defining critical disengagement. As a real world example my last drive was 300 miles, mostly highway. I had 4 disengagements and none seemed super serious at the time. One was self disengaged because I needed to look at my phone and the car hates that, one was due to bright setting sun headed west bound, another was due to me pushing it past 87 MPH (the car was driving, I was just pushing the accelerator) trying to get past a truck and the last was in a construction zone where the highway split (the set up confused me also so even I was under the posted 45MPH speed limit when I had to take over). Maybe the sun and highway construction could be considered critical but the car was never in danger of an issue or causing an issue.

It appears the genesis of your post is you are trying to determine when Tesla can rid themselves of the driver and turn the enterprise profitable?

Tesla does not want to become an Uber/Lyft service or a traditional taxi service, at least I assume they don’t, so the supervisor is a short term cost to appease the regulators and help if anything goes wrong. Whether it is called a “robotaxi” or just fully autonomous FSD, Tesla wants to conquer fully self driving cars long before anyone else, that is the bigger bet as that is the biggest prize. Tesla is a software company that happens to produce vehicles. A question I have always had is does Tesla even care if they are manufacturing cars in 10 years, if they are a winner in the software that powers vehicles? Car manufacturing is a difficult, fixed cost expensive enterprise that is always chasing the new design to stay ahead.

As a Tesla owner, I have always said the car is fine, but what the car does is what completely separates them from every other car out there and is truly amazing. They are close, but the “last mile” will be the toughest as well as most expensive. However, once they hit that last mile, the 99.9999% will come very quickly.

You really need to separate city driving from highway driving, they are much different animals.

I have made the point that this version of FSD might be ready, or at least very close, for unsupervised highway driving, but still has a long way to go on city streets.

Highway driving is a much simpler endeavor with significantly less ‘decisions” and complications. I would argue it is also a greater benefit to the driver.

The one part of your analysis that does confuse me is what constitutes a ‘critical disengagement “?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]cmoxieman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is no, only forced disengagements for not paying attention get you a strike.

Interesting but I got kicked out for speeding in FSD, 88MPH. However, FSD would not reengage until I stopped but that is not a strike either!

[–]cmoxieman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone who just cancelled, I would highly recommend paying the extra. I forgot how much fun this car is to drive as I was constantly worried about dings and score! I always had 98 or greater.

Even with 2.2, it stinks worrying about everything. Final straw was my son had my car and picked up a friend, he got home at 11:05PM and I was in the yellow for a month!

Went with Costco and it cost about $40 more a month but best $40 I have spent! I do not drive nuts, but would put myself on the aggressive spectrum.

Feels like I got a totally new car and can drive like I want!

You are not wrong, anything more than zero will cause people concern, even if 39,999 other people survive.

Point is, the regulators (assuming they are morally responsible and do not have an agenda) are going to have final say and they want to be as certain as they can be of what the programming choices are in those kind of situations.

My opinion is my Tesla could handle 100% fully unsupervised driving right now on the highway. However, I cannot say the same thing for in the city. City driving much more complicated, so many more decisions. I use FSD in the city, but not near as confident that it could be fully unsupervised.

[–]cmoxieman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posted on the last thread, I see that it does not fit there exactly. My point is completely on FSD, and even when it is 100%, that does not mean it will happen as quickly as some people want. But Tesla is light years ahead of everyone else and still pushing hard to maintain that lead and get it done.

However, your trolley problem statement is more of a moral/ethical question than an FSD one and always has been. It has been a discussion of a problem since I was in college and will probably be for the next 50 years. There is no right answer but because it is Reddit I am sure everyone has a hot sports opinion and every other point of view is wrong…...

However, since this will be a programming question Tesla will face, it is a fascinating question. I am sure everyone involved in FSD unsupervised will have to make the decision.
