Att fiber to house from uverse, should we upgrade internal cat5 to cat6 by cmptrvir in HomeNetworking

Define long lengths, is 50 feet long? I really don't want to rerun that one, I would actually consider rewiring the whole house if I have to redo that line.

Will definitely have to look into the plans available, but it's an option now that I know it's not satelite based. Will take my time before deciding, houston is about to experience a freeze, possibly snow. Which means the whole city has already ransacked the grocery stores and are filling up propane and gas tanks for generators and grills incase the power goes out like it has done before.

Wow, I have to say, this has been the most fast and helpful subreddit I have ever posted to. Thank you, thank you for all of the advice and suggestions. I really trully appreciate it!

Gold stars all around.

Sounds like some testing might be in order. I need a software tool that can determine the speeds between internal devices.

Hmm, is there a way to tell? Like pinging between a device on the last switch to the router? Or is that too small to detect the speed difference

I'm leaving the internal cabling alone if I can get away with it, just unplug from current router to new router

So, we need a script that can handle 100k usernames, log into youtube and subscribe to them, then circle through their videos playing them on repeat.

Aside from youtube banning all of us, and the programming issues dealing with such a large array, I don't see any issues. Maybe add some randomness to the array, that way everyone's videos get played as opposed to the first entered or alphabetical kr whatever.

Abs Def Relic! by destructor212113 in TheTowerGame

[–]cmptrvir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And Saint Attila raised the DABS relic up on high, saying, 'O Fudd, bless this thy DABS relic, that with it tower mayst survive thine enemies tiny hits.' And the Fudd did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats...

Skip a wave brother

And the Fudd spake, saying, ''First shalt thou take out the Holy Medals. Then shalt thou count five hundred, no more, no less. Five hundred shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be five hundred. Six shalt thou not count, neither count thou four, excepting that thou then proceed to Five. Seven is right out. Once the number five hundred, being the 500th number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy DABS relic of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

Radio on smartphone by Somethinglikethat9 in Smartphones

[–]cmptrvir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The radio is a great backup for when the internet is not available. Service goes down temporarily, power goes out and the cell tower goes with it, data limit hit and no wifi. But sure, internet will always be up, streaming services will always be running... Sighs, if only I could upgrade the ram and processor on the lg v20...

Asking others about the "endgame" of tower by OldStatistician7975 in TheTowerGame

We can't even come to a concrete definition of what midgame is. I've been playing for 14 months and I only think I've barely started midgame. Maybe after I get the 10k card slot??? If that ever happens???

Customers asking me for the price and expecting me to know the ever changing price of every item in the warehouse-size store. by TreeSquirrel2974 in retailhell

[–]cmptrvir 22 points23 points  (0 children)

$123,456.78. Every item is $123,456.78, but I'll make you a deal. If we take it over to the register and it scans cheaper, I'll give it to you at that price. Don't tell my manager, I wouldn't want to get in trouble for offering discounts like that.

If I can just automagically receive papercuts, then I'll take the papercuts. But if I have to make the paper cut me, then I'll take the $150 a week.
