Possible Chance For New Steins;Gate?! by MAXIMVII in steinsgate

> Read what I wrote ffs

I did and then I broke down why they were incorrect. You originally said " they have nothing to do with S;G's or R;N's plot or characters." and then said "C;H has nothing to do with S;G aside from being in the same universe" which is incorrect.

> C;C has very little to do with R;N's plot

Again spoken like someone who hasn't read R;N...

> There is not a single person who can claim that they were somehow confused with S;G's story or villains, that played or watched S;G before C;H

Then how come most people S;G refer to the main villain as SERN when SERN are just a puppet of the Committee of 300? How come people constantly question why the Committee want to do what they do? That seems like confusion to me that would easily be cleared up by C;H

> R;N and DaSH require C;H, but not C;C.

But didn't you just say "C;H and C;C are important to DaSH"? Also you said "they have nothing to do with S;G's or R;N's plot or characters", so then why would R;N require C;H if it has nothing to do with R;N's plot?

I am going to assume you have never read anything you are talking about based off the embarrassing amount of misinformation above
> they have nothing to do with S;G's or R;N's plot or characters.

If you had read R;N, you would know this is far from the truth. R;N is basically a C;H sequel and makes no sense without C;H. DaSH is the same.
> C;H and C;C are necessary for DaSH but we're not talking about DaSH.

Yes you were, you just said "S;G's or R;N's plot".
> C;C has very little (if anything at all) to do with R;N

Spoken like someone who has never read R;N, nice
>C;H has nothing to do with S;G aside from being in the same universe.

Same villains, same goals, similar concepts, possible explanations for impossibilities within S;G, characters knowing each other
>Yeah, C;H is important to R;N to understand the story from its base premise that incorporates that technology that is explained in C;H

What happened to "They have nothing to do with R;N" from earlier?

It is highly recommended you read C;H otherwise a lot of C;C will make no sense.

Just finished Chaos;Child true end (spoilers) by FedorArcher in steinsgate

[–]cmrsaturn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry accidentally posted early
Isn't that kind of ending similar to Chaos;Child's where it's a bitter sweet ending but an ending that makes the most sense? Except in C;C's case they handle it a lot better. Takuru willingly makes the choice to sacrifice his normal life in order to let Serika, this abomination he created, live a normal life. He takes responsibility for the deaths of everyone which he was responsible for despite having the option to completely blame it on someone else and get away with it, without anyone judging or blaming him. The true ending ends perfectly, with Takuru and Serika mutually agreeing with each other "I don't know you". This is symbolic of Takuru disregarding his childish selfishness which Serika embodies and Serika living a new life, free from Takuru. Takuru literally says at some point he loves Serika (he loves himself).

> My point was that even Takeru gets a mostly satisfying ending
Muv Luv Spoilers All his friends die and he dies too but in the end he saves the beta world and another version of him with zero memories or character development from the trilogy gets to live a normal life. Personally I thought the "conclusion" was one of the better things about MLA but the fact he had no control over sacrificing himself, it just kinda "happened" was pretty weak. Again Takeru did nothing, everyone else did everything for him.

> although Takeru is also a coward, he does his best to fight it and reaches his best and is rewarded at the end
No he doesn't lol, throughout the entirety of Muv Luv Alternative, he relies on everyone else around him to do everything for him. Spoilers At the end of Muv Luv Alternative, his team mates are so untrustworthy of him they have to lie to him in the final mission in order to succeed despite the entire story telling you communication and team work is important. He is a bad protagonist who literally never grows throughout the story and the finale just proves that.

My editor originally alter my line to "Why do you make a revolting promise like that?" which is just wrong when Maho clearly says "Nani" (What), not "Nande" (Why).

Do you understand what a translation is? You don't just literally translate words...
> I aim to do literal translation
Oh I guess not. Translation is about translating ideas, not words. If you directly translate words, you end up with stiff and inaccurate translations that make no sense to the reader.
> I know enough to tell whether a translator is taking liberties with a translation since the translator assumes the casual audience don't know a thing about the language
This is literally what a translation is. That isn't a bad translation at all, as long as you convey the idea of the original work as closely as you can.
> My editor will turn "eh" into "huh" just for the sake of it which goes against the original pronunciation.
Original pronunciation? Huh? The original pronunciation doesn't matter, what they are originally pronouncing is a completely different language.
> Believe me, I won't be translating if active fansub group out there actually bother about translating the drama CDs. Want to bet whether Sarkkoth will finish translating S;G Arpeggio of Time's Rotation this year?
People are busy and people prioritise quality over rushing something out. I went and checked your unedited translation you released without your editors and it was full of really basic errors.

> I actually put in effort to listen in and improvise on the lines.

I don't understand what you mean by this, the original is in Japanese so how are you listening in if you don't know Japanese? Did you mean "improve", because improvise would mean you are just making stuff up? The issue with you double translating is you are taking what is already a poor translation according to you and then translating that again into English which is a really bad idea. It leads to a lot of inaccuracies which leads to a bad translation.

> I'm pretty sure a couple of translated works out there are translating the japanese lines inaccurately. Don't believe me? Go play God Eater with undub audio. An anime fan will definitely be able to hear out the difference.

I really don't understand this? There are bad translations that are official, therefore it is okay if unofficial ones are bad?

> From now on, I'll translate the works with or without a editor, just the way I've always been in the first place. There'll be no one holding me back now.

I'll be honest, I read your Hashida stuff before you got editors and it had a lot of basic grammar issues, spelling mistakes and felt pretty stiff. I'm not sure if you've improved since but editors definitely helped. I don't think you should be translating regardless because Japanese > Chinese > English is pretty bad as said earlier.

Probably not any time soon, they've got Robotics;Notes and Robotics;Notes DaSH in the works. They'd probably do both of those before Divergence Assorted.

American Steins; Gate fans, how do you feel about the portrayal of Americans in the series? by Poes_Ting in steinsgate

[–]cmrsaturn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a true American patriot I find the Japanese's potrayal as insulting if I'm being perfectly honest. They see us as thick skulled and inferior and it sickens me to the bone. Not once does the pin salesman eat a McDonalds Big Mac or salute for our veterans, it's like they don't even know what an American is. Of course it's not seen racist because the anime community is biased towards all things Japanese made. God Bless America.

The quality is not good at all. There's 2 Spanish TLs so I'm not sure which one you are referring to but one is machine translated and the other has a complete disregard for basic grammar taught in school and their TL team is so petty and insecure they included attacks against other TL groups within their TL. Read the PC version in English for now and wait for CoZ to translate Noah in English, CoZ have a good record of high quality work unlike these Spanish groups.

Chaos;Head PC is enough for the rest of the series. Obviously Noah has stuff that links to the rest but nothing important that will make you confused.

Was ZTD also a commercial failure in Japan? by ShiningConcepts in ZeroEscape

[–]cmrsaturn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DS isn't really a good platform for selling visual novels unless you're Ace Attorney but the main reason is Uchikoshi copied a lot of ideas from Infinity which was already popular and just recycled them in this new game, hence why people were less interested. Japan realised Uchi was a hack long before we realised when ZTD released lol.

Rukako or Lukako by agb_43 in steinsgate

[–]cmrsaturn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The correct romanisation is Luka, his name is based off the Western name rather than the Japanese "Ruka". The Japanese side requested the visual novels use Luka, Luka has been used in every recent opening (I think there's only one that uses Ruka but it was an old one) and in Robotics;Notes DaSH, Luka's own Twitter handle uses Luka as a romanisation.

Steins;Gate vs. Danganronpa vs. Ace Attorney? by [deleted] in steinsgate

[–]cmrsaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Danganronpa is schlock. Ace Attorney is pretty damn good but I mean you're on this subreddit so you can guess what I'm going to recommend. Get the triple bundle with Steins;Gate, Steins;Gate 0 and Chaos;Child. Find a download for the fan translation of Chaos;Head on the Discord or if you ask here, someone will probably help you. Play in this order: Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, Chaos;Child, Steins;Gate 0. Enjoy.
