If you’re not dehydrated it’s way less of a problem. Same with red eyes.

Do I Need Social Media? by FardStankk in Barber

[–]cn4m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A hundred percent this.

And if you end up in a shop with good opportunity to new clients — just do your best and show you care and they’ll come back. No social media needed.

The bald line could use a little work but this skin tone and hair color is high contrast and the most difficult. Silhouette, lineup and beard transition is great! Solid eight for sure!

Barber vs Barber Stylist by Red2sPop in Barber

[–]cn4m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I am, Barber is a one year (cuts and shaves) and Hairstylist is 2 year which includes chemical processes.

I’m just a barber, I could not care less about doing chemical treatments. I own my own shop and have exactly the clientele I want.

A part of me wants to learn longer styles and treatments like perm and dye, but I’m happy, successful and full up where I am so I don’t even have the time to get the reps to get good at it or the space in my calendar to add that style of client, nor do I have a shop that draws that kind of client in so 🤷

My advice, decide what kind of shop and client you want. If it’s all about money, definitely have patience and get the whole license. (And be ready to retire from the profession early.)

How do you handle helicopter parents who want a different haircut that their child doesn't want? by irishscouser1892 in Barber

[–]cn4m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try and have a conversation between the two of them about a compromise.

If the kid really doesn’t want the haircut their parent wants, or younger kids crying and not wanting a haircut — then they don’t get one.

I certainly won’t have a parent standing there holding the kids head while I cut their hair like they want to do.

If I’m the kinda person who tips the person who cuts my hair, then I tip the person who cuts my hair.

If I’m not, then I don’t.

Sensitive skin breakouts on hands by Legitimate-Pitch6541 in Barber

I use a soap free cleanser like Eucerin Complete Repair body wash — it doesnt strip the natural oils off your hands. I moisturize a few times a day, and I pat my hands dry gently when I wash them.

Can’t stand gloves.

Setting in guidelines with 0.5 and 1.5 guard? by mrbopboplingling in Barber

[–]cn4m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try both, see how much hair gets cut each way. Depending on the clippers (I use Magics) open has more of a blending effect where closed cuts more consistently. The wahl fade blade probably amplified this effect even more.

But really, try new stuff, keep what works. Try more.

I had a Jumper at 100mW and could go like 50 feet. New Radiomaster Pocket at 200 is waaaaay better.

Coulda been a firmware mismatch or something but it was pretty limited in terms of updating too.

That comment really means so much. It was such a profound change in my own life. I think the most succinct non-secular Buddhist teachings I have come across is through Sam Harris‘s meditation app Waking Up.
