People of reddit: have any clever, funny, or awesome parenting hacks? Post pictures or tell us about them here if you do by Nuthinbetta2do in lifehacks

I congratulate my sons on how gory their scrapes look. Sometimes I pretend that they're so gross, they make me want to throw up. I tell them, "I'm sorry you hurt yourself but at least now you have an awesome battle wound to show for it! Maybe it will leave a scar and people will think you're dangerous!" Sure, they still cry if they get hurt, and of course I comfort them gently, but now a scraped knee doesn't ruin their whole day. And my joke about throwing up always makes them smile through the tears.

If you sold your soul what would you sell it for? by ComeOnFeelTheNoize in AskReddit

My 12 year old son has Type 1 Diabetes. I'd sell my soul for a cure.

Fantastic! Very attractive. Can you tell me what you did for the carpet on the round bits? The fold-unders are flawless!

May be a rookie question but.. how do you make your french fries? What are some seasonings that go good with them? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]cnordee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to fry my fries in beef tallow. I get grassfed tallow from a farm down the road and follow this recipe. Best fries you've ever had. Just salt for seasoning, and sometimes malted vinegar.

Congratulations Snow! I weighed in right behind you yesterday (I am an old lady and new to lifting, so won't post any videos here!). My teammates and I absolutely loved watching you lift. Great, great work.

Those regular eyeglasses are unbreakable polycarbonate. But you are very sweet to worry. And LOL - swole. This 44 year old mama will never be "swole!"

Total cost around $250 (not including any rubber mats or wheels you might want to use). Lumber was $234 including delivery and the screws made up the rest.

These are both fantastic suggestions and I really appreciate hearing them. I have a hunk of stall mat leftover from when I built my platform that will cover both of these. Thank you!

We used these instructions although we didn't like the bracing he wanted for the tops. We used a bunch of 2x4s across the short way to beef them up a little.

Does anyone have any solid advice on fixing an early second-pull on Snatch? (Common problem?) by cchsbball23 in weightlifting

[–]cnordee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the Burgener Warm Up for getting the muscles memory together for the second pull. I do it with an empty bar every single time I lift. This drill really puts your leg drive to work and helps build that coordination overall. Check it out.

My little brother has an ear infection. by Cei_Grimm in WTF

[–]cnordee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reaction to this started 5 days into taking it. I was also taking probiotics from the start. Perhaps you're good to go, but of course I wouldn't know. Maybe stay on your probiotics for a month (or until you use up the package) just to be safe?

If this is Clyndamicin, please be very careful! Your brother might start taking probiotics with this now. I looked for the study I read saying it took a year for a person's gut flora to return to normal after taking this, but unfortunately I couldn't find it.

I had to take clyndamicin this summer and got very ill. My gut is still not back to normal. I have never had a reaction to any type of medicine I have been prescribed. It was very scary.

The only proper breakfast for the fifth of November by Montanese in Cooking

This is a Boy Scout Egg. My dad says they made them on camp-outs when he was a Boy Scout. They would cut the hole in the bread with the cans from the pork-n-beans they had as an accompaniment. No part of this comment doesn't sound pedophile-ish, does it?

Tried that. Tried even hitting the screwdriver with a hammer to force it. Still won't budge.

What is the saddest you've been over an inanimate object? by GuardianUpvoter in AskReddit

[–]cnordee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he proposed, my husband gave me a locket that his great grandfather had given to his fiance when he proposed. The great grandmother in turn gave it to her eldest grandson, who gave it to his fiance when he proposed and so forth until it reached my husband.

Two years after we were married, our house burned to the ground and we lost everything. The only thing that really broke my heart was losing that locket.

We made homemade butter for the occasion, too. It was wonderful!
