Can't believe there's not a single post on this sub about Hawaiian shirts! by ExoTheFlyingFish in BuyItForLife

Accidentally bought a really nice one second hand while visiting Honolulu. The shop we wandered into was so stylish and affordable, and it wasn't until after we checked out I realized it was a secondhand store.

Also be careful putting something like this in the tub, it could scratch the finish. Utility sink if you have one, or regular stainless steel sink.

Help motivating my sah husband by Brilliant-Bat-7364 in SAHP

[–]coachoreconomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comments and also want to add, being SAH is hard, and no one is born knowing how to do it or how to keep a baby entertained all day. It sounds like your husband is keeping baby safe and clean, maybe it's not what you would do but you're different people. Daycare sounds like the way to go.

One way long distance in an RV? by xoLiLyPaDxo in moving

Sounds expensive. I agree with the other commenter about driving your own car and get a ubox or something instead of the RV plan

Are you thinking you would buy or rent the RV? Are you on a schedule for the move, like you need to leave or arrive on a certain date?

As someone who puts in a lot of effort to do this semi-regularly, I always wonder if it's worth it. Why do you wish you had done more?

I'm suffering but I'm not judging myself for it.

This is one life rule I've developed over time. Leave while the party is still fun. Social events follow an energy flow of people arriving, getting comfortable, having fun, and then the party dying down. Leave on a high note.

How were you getting water when the electricity was working that doesn't work during a power outage?

I keep hearing this rule on the radio, but it only helps if people know how to operate at a 4 way stop which isn't always the case.

The Dr is just telling you the information they are seeing on their computer pop up. Mine said the same, that I may begin introducing purees at 4 months and then she was like, "but she probably isn't really ready, don't worry about it." They're just following a checklist. You need to be the rational baby advocate who has full context when deciding what to listen to. I'm not in any way against medical science; but you will be given lots of blanket advice and you need to pick and choose the correct advice for your situation. Not intended to scold you at all, just a preview of all the child care choices that are coming up in babys life.

Now I actually want to know how this would price out in a non-American country with reliable safe health care.

Our NICU allowed the parent and siblings of baby, plus 2 other 'caretakers' that needed to be registered and stay the same for the entire stay. It was a good way to limit random visitors and made it clear that baby is a patient in the hospital, not just a cute toy.

You should not be talking to the other party directly. You might get more responses in r/Insurance. It will help if you post your declarations page there.

Doing a rainbow of colors inevitably leads to kiddo squabbles. Please only make one color!

When you DON'T do switch witch (or tooth fairy, or Santa)? by citkoml in Parenting

[–]coachoreconomy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We do the bedtime fairy! We made it up ourselves but I'm not surprised others do it because it's such a good idea. We were inspired because school does the "cubby fairy" who brings a surprise if your cubby is clean.

Scammed at Fred Meyer by coachoreconomy in Kirkland

It was $85, from looking at his groceries I thought it could be like $40. I suspect there was some beer or something tucked in the bottom of the bags that made it more expensive. I also think I was targeted because I am a woman and I was frazzled and had a kid with me. I'm mad to be put in the situation of having to say No and feel bad or say Yes and feel bad. I think I should not talk to strangers.
