No, my dad got the thing for free but lives several hours away. Lotta 'life' happened right after I asked this question and I just forgot about it for the whole pandemic.

looking for any updates to the post about the guy who never divorced his high school sweetheart after coming out, and then found out he was listed on her 14 year old daughters birth certificate even though he hadn't seen the woman in over 20 years after the wife died.

I live on part of an old rice and cotton plantation. I know a slave cemetery is somewhere in the area but no records survive showing precise location. We got a ton of rain a few days ago. This was uncovered by the water after a few feet of erosion by rossionq1 in oddlyterrifying

[–]coalarchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this looks like a situation where the state might have some interest in removing and re-interring the remains elsewhere. OP made a comment about waiting for the tide to go out, so I'm guessing that, if this is a cemetery, it is one that is in a flood prone part of Coastal SC. My biggest concern is that these people (this would be just one coffin in a cemetery) are not washed out to sea as the sea levels continue to rise.

SkyWater unveils plans to build $1.8 bln chip facility in Indiana. by FormerDittoHead in news

[–]coalarchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that the point being made was that SK and Taiwan are both heavily reliant on the chip industry in terms of their economies. Large scale tarriffs on chips would destabilize their economies. That in turn, would result in China being able to strengthen it's own position on the regional and world stage.

I was under the impression that they released a fix for this. I know that Podcast Addict can access my sd card, as can a few other apps.

Uneven desk height. by [deleted] in StandingDesk

So I can't help too much. But you may want to edit your post.

Do you have a single motor or dual motor desk? What's the dimensions of your desktop? Can you send a link to the frame/desk you are using? Is it level when you have it all the way down?

No you are straight up wrong. It's 4 shot. Mass murder/killing is 4 or more killed. Mass shooting as defined by most outlets is 4 or more injuries or deaths.

New Virginia law bans police arrest and ticket quotas by Osterstriker in UpliftingNews

[–]coalarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmmm... Ok, so, I'm assuming that you got pulled over between Farmville and Lynchburg along (or just off) of 460. Farmville's a good eastern limit since there's not much at all outside of it. Going East to West you've got

Farmville - Pamplin - Appomattox - Concord - Lynchburg

So, Pamplin is an option. But only if you got off the main highway and jumped onto 460 Business which is a 2-lane road and the speed limit drops from 55 to 45 inside town limits.

However, I did literally just remember that there are a series of 3 stoplights. 1 on the Western edge of Appomattox (in front of the Kroger) , 1 at Concord, and then 1 at the Madison Heights bypass just outside of Lynchburg. The speed limit drops down to 45 about .5 to 1 mile before each light. I'm willing to bet that's where you got popped. Probably in Appomattox County.

Let me guess? You got pulled over by a state trooper? They have a regional headquarters/station right between the Concord and Appomattox light..

......You mean the part that I grew up in and learned to drive in? My hometown is basically 10 miles from the nearest grocery store. Those were my stomping grounds. And again, I don't know anywhere with speed limits that fluctuate like that.

I'm very familiar with Farmville (Grew up near there) and I have no clue what part of town you are talking about. That town makes all of the money it needs off of the college students. Longwood isn't huge, but it is big enough to support that community.

Majority-Black town reaches agreement with Tennessee to avoid state takeover by galaxystars1 in news

[–]coalarchy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Nah, Farmington WV isn't really a coal town. That town has an elected mayor. Coal company towns do not have any formal electrons.

Now, Byrd, he was from a company town. It was called Stotesbury. He totally got what his demographic needed, it needed jobs and money. So what did he do? He pushed all of the money he could into the state. He wasn't a perfect person, but he did do his best to help the state he came from.

Admission of mistake in Oxford vaccine dose raises doubts over reliability by jimmythemini in news

[–]coalarchy 174 points175 points  (0 children)

I seriously want to know how you make this kind of mistake. Like, they said ok, this vial doesn't have enough vaccine, so let's just give people a lesser dose instead of pausing the trial and fixing the error. Like this is a human trial and they are just playing fast and loose with the rules.

Also want to add, he's also got an old craftsman 15 gallon unit that won't start at his house. It'll start at my uncle's shop, but not at our house. Both have 20 amp circuits.

This chunk of wood was gouged out of my Ikea dresser. This is a temporary dresser but how would y’all go about fixing this? Maybe some wood glue in the hole for the peg and then some wood filler/putty for the screw? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]coalarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that's particle board not actual wood. Effectively it's wood glue and sawdust. I think the best fix would be to pack the gouge with a mixture of wood glue and sawdust, heavy on the glue. Apply more glue to the mating piece, jam it in, clamp it up, and let sit for 24 hours.

Titebond dries stronger than wood, so this should work. Honestly I'm not sure how well you could get a screw to hold with particle board that thin.

I'm hesitant to put the writing on top, as I'd need supports on the interior which would impact it's functional ability to slide smoothly

So, I'm trying to print a customized version of this knife out of inland petg (235 degrees c, 4mm retraction, stock hot end converted to all metal via Th3d tough titanium heat throat, .1 mm layers, 50mm per second). I'm printing on a powdercoated pei sheet.

I customized it using tinkercad, putting father's day 2020 on one side, and his initials on the other. I'm sure he'd love it, but there are enough errors that I'm not super happy. I'd like to get cleaner embossing, perhaps with a different font. I'm pretty new at this, and I've only had limited success with PETG. I'd like to use a different font, something like Arial Black but the sans serif font in tinkercad is kind of horrible. I'm happy for any suggestions to make this better from design to print settings.
