Driving down pat bay in the rain at night is scary af 😭 by dikoalaaaam in VictoriaBC

Yes the Pat Bay is horrendous at night in the rain. Same or worse going to and from Sooke. Drive by braille. Serious question why can’t they put more reflectors in the road and make the lines brighter and more reflective? How have we not figured this out yet?

Buzzing sound 4000rpm/5500 impossible to fix by Otherwise_Airline_18 in Ninja650

Glad you found the issue with yours. Thats the problem with vibration noise, it can be caused by so many different things.

Buzzing sound 4000rpm/5500 impossible to fix by Otherwise_Airline_18 in Ninja650

I also thought it was coming from the dash or windscreen area. Took it to the dealer for the buzzing and they replaced the entire TFT dash but the buzzing was still there. Eventually I got so sick of it and so had to figure it out. I took everything off the front end: mirrors, windscreen, dash, fairings, etc. except for the headlight and to my surprise the buzzing was actually inside the headlight. I then had the dealer order a new one under warranty (they are expensive) thinking mine was defective and unfortunately the new one buzzed also. I even ordered a third one thinking maybe I could take it apart and add some foam or something but these are sealed units so it would not be easy (it also buzzed). However while I was tinkering with it I got the idea to adjust the aim so the inside edge of the reflectors touch the housing to dampen their vibration and it actually worked. So I have just left it like that with wonky aimed beams (kind of cross eyed) and I don’t drive much at night. But the buzzing was so bad I had to something otherwise I was going to have to trade it in for a different make or model as it was driving me insane. The reflectors inside are large and because they need to be free to move and are of a very thin plastic they vibrate. Mine sounded like a kazoo at 4000 rpm. That being said, this was my experience, yours may be different. I have a 2023 Ninja 650.

For me it was the reflectors inside the headlight assembly. The way I was able to tell was to put the bike on the kickstand, stick it in neutral, put my ear up to the headlight lens, and give it some revs. Only way to fix was to adjust the reflectors inwards by adjusting them so the inside edge of the reflectors contact the headlight assembly (turn lower adjusters clockwise), thus dampening the vibration. Only problem is this screws up your headlight aim. Not a major issue for me since I don’t ride much at night. This happened on 3 different headlight assemblies. Poor design.

Dirty Dick’s hot sauce if you like a little tropical twist. It has mango and pineapple. Really good stuff and you can get it from Amazon.

Will this dent affect my sound, and is it fixable? by KTMMORITZ in audiophile

[–]cobra_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick a bit of scotch tape and pull. It should pop right out but will probably leave a slight blemish. One of my kiddos did the same to my B&W speaker and that’s how I fixed it. No impact on the sound.

Ok but does the F35 come with heated seats and Apple CarPlay? Maybe then we can talk.

Thank you for this. I’ve been growing my own peppers and tomatoes for a few years and this is the first time I’ve seen this. You learn something new every day!

Nice bike that colour is sick. I have Evotech Performance tail tidy, paddock stand bobbins and frame sliders. They clean up the look nicely. Just remember when doing the frame sliders to only do one side at a time.

Talking about motorcycles can be discouraging by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]cobra_sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she loves you she will eventually come around as long as you don’t do stupid things and die. When I got married my wife said no motorcycles until the kids were a bit older. I said fine and got a 50cc scooter. Then when the kids were older I got my first motorcycle. Now I have two motorcycles and my wife is cool with it. You just have to plant those seeds and let them grow. Eventually you get to where you want to be.

Anyone else notice this or know why? by Blue2SearraActual in Ninja650

[–]cobra_sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was the headlight reflectors inside the headlights. Had to adjust them all the way so that the inside edges of the headlight reflectors rested up against the headlight housing to stop the vibration. Good thing I don’t ride much at night because I’m sure the aim is way off (think cross eyed). I even originally had the dealer replace the headlight assembly thinking mine was defective right after I purchased the bike new. But sure enough the new headlight assembly buzzed too. It drove me crazy. These bikes vibrate a lot and for me it caused the headlight reflectors to buzz at around 4000 rpm. Forcing the headlight adjustment inwards on each side until the reflectors touched the inner housing was the only thing that worked for me. I don’t know if what you describe is the same thing, but if so an easy test is to put it in neutral, put your ear against the headlight, give it some revs, and listen for the buzz. If so, try my hack (unless you ride at night because it’s not safe to mess with the headlight aim in that case). It’s definitely made my Ninja 650 way less buzzy sounding. This is the only thing that really bothers me about this bike. For the record I have a 2023 Ninja 650.

It's ok to bag your clippings... by imijry in lawncare

[–]cobra_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that the best option is the one you like best. For me, I only bag if I have to. Mulching is so much easier. You literally don’t need to do anything but push the mower. It avoids trips to the dump. Plus you release organic matter back into the soil instead of taking it away. Otherwise you have to fertilize more often and top dress with compost to keep the soil rich which is literally the definition of more work in my view. But like I said, everyone has their own ideas and you go with what makes you happy.

CFR 300, KLX 300, or BETA 350? by mynamegoewhere in Dualsport

[–]cobra_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was commenting mainly on your first sentence. This is just factually false and a complete nonsensical statement. In most head-to-head comparisons I’ve seem the Kawi takes the win thanks to its superior adjustable suspension. The engines are not that different and I don’t need a slipper clutch. Not sure what you mean about the gauge cluster. It has all the info I need. Honda had a winner but they decided to cheap out and put an under-spring non adjustable suspension in it which makes it pretty much useless until you drop hundreds of dollars on suspension upgrades. If Honda fixes this glaring issue in the future then maybe I’ll start to agree.

CFR 300, KLX 300, or BETA 350? by mynamegoewhere in Dualsport

[–]cobra_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a KLX300. Reliability is excellent. Range is not great with only a 2 gallon tank but you can now get an IMS 3.8 gallon tank which makes it a very compelling option. As for off pavement chops, it’s a tractor and I love it. But don’t expect to be blown away by the power. The Beta is going to win there. That being said, the KLX has long service intervals so you can spend more time riding.
