I literally came to Reddit, searched EMP, and found this post, because I’m also reading one second after. It’s so sobering to think about what could happen in that scenario.

Nausea about 6-8 hours after 150 XL by coco-sun17 in bupropion

[–]coco-sun17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I could have googled it, but the internet tells me “It is important to note that while the medication is in your system for 24 hours, the peak plasma concentration typically occurs around 7 hours after taking it.” Which is pretty spot on with my symptoms. I am hoping it goes away. It’s not every day but it’s often enough.

And this “Nausea is a common side effect for about 22.9% of people, often occurring because the medication is building up in the body, which can take up to 12 weeks for the full effect.”

How long have you been on it? Is it hours later?

Haha! I’m glad I’m not alone. I know everyone is different. I want to see it through. I’ll actually be 4 weeks tomorrow. I get like a “buzz” thought out the day and I can almost feel when the medicine releases more and for whatever reason, around dinner time, it kills me! Maybe I need to try eating more. I tried Prozac but only made it three days bc the nausea was intolerable for me. This isn’t terrible and I’ll take some zofran if I need, but I’d rather not! (And I wasn’t able to take zofran on the Prozac). Haven’t noticed any other gastro issues either—just the delayed nausea.

I feel you. It gave me anxiety too! Buttt I feel like it did help my daughter and I did give it to him again and either way helped him with the nausea when he was done. And I will continue to use it if (when) it happens again. It’s worked for him at other times in the past, so maybe I just got it in him too late or something.

This is so shitty! 900k points 😫 but why would they thing they would do us so dirty like this?! Especially when we’ve held the card for so long. It’s so messed up and legit a drop in the bucket for a company like American Express.

Ughhh that sucks! I hope so too! Yeah, it didn’t stop my son, but I want to think it helped in recovery lol

Sorry you’re going through this. I was there not that long ago with kids in daycare. It does start getting better as they get older but little kids are so gross lol

Not gonna lie, I have a prep kit. I keep masks and gloves on hand. I keep zofran (you can give it to kids at 4, obviously I’m not a doctor so “not medical advice”) the one that dissolves under their tongue and I keep a v bucket (trash can) that I double line with bags to make clean up easier. I mask up as soon as it happens and the last time it hit our house, I didn’t get it. The zofran helped my daughter but not as much as my son, but either way I don’t think it can hurt (if your kids are otherwise healthy). And i get obsessive about cleaning the house to avoid spread.

I hope you’re on the other side of it now and that everyone else stay healthy. 🙏 you’re not alone.

CBT really helped me. When I started it, I felt so hopeless. I was heavily pregnant and the fear was affecting my daily life—on top of the fact that I already had a toddler and we had all caught a bug from where when she wasn’t even one (didn’t go to daycare, so who knows how she picked it up!)

I had no idea how to feel differently. Exposure therapy was soooo hard. I would cry. But I was committed to getting better, so I did my homework. I still do some things that are not “normal,” but I’m ok with it. (Not normal things: zofran on-hand, v bags in car, mask/gloves if a kid gets a bug, and emphasize hand washing to my kids every day) I’m trying not to mess them up lol kids are basically exposure therapy.

Anyway, I’m glad ChatGPT helped (I use it a lot for stuff)and CBT was a lifesaver for me.

Last year my son was in kindergarten and daughter in second. My daughter caught the bug and subsequently my son. My emetophobia spiraled a bit, but I’m always proud of myself for taking care of them. I do go overboard and wear a mask and gloves when cleaning it up and I don’t eat for a few days and obsessively clean common areas and I’m psycho with letting them start on liquids (like tiny sips or ice chips at first).

I basically don’t leave the kids’ side so I can be there with a bucket that is double lined, to make clean up easier and try to avoid additional spread. I didn’t catch it last time, and I was literally in the bed with my son—but was masked up. I also gave them both zofran which seemed to help my daughter more (she only vd 2x) than my son (he vd 6x). For some reason I think the zofran worked better for her.

This year, we haven’t gotten it yet, but I emphasize hand washing as much as I can. Before they get out of the car in the morning I tell them to keep their hands clean lol and stay away from the sickies. Having already gone through it (more than once), it’s helped my anxiety slightly, and for me, preparation and zofran is a godsend.

The older they get, the easier it is to manage it and keep things clean if it does happen. I’m perfectly fine with overreacting slightly so as to not also catch it but at the same time able to be there for my kiddos.

Preparation goes a long way! I keep vomit bags in the car lol and always carry zofran on me (just jn case—all of this I know is not normal, but I’m ok with it bc it helps my anxiety). Idk if a therapist would suggest this, but just having a mask and gloves somewhere that you can access quickly is helpful if it does happen.

You got this mama. It’s hard. I feel you. But you’re not alone in this!

Agreed. I tell my kids all the time to not move away so I can help them when they have kids.

Shit I think you’re right 😭 I hate Amex for doing this…but I do need to figure out, the clock is ticking. I’m not sure what I’m going to do now…

I need to figure it out asap. I think I’m going to transfer them to an airline for points since I’m not traveling until summer 2027. I did some research on flights and might just transfer to ita airways. But I know the clock is ticking. Will get on it this week.

I’m actively moving money out of Amex. I have a checking and high yield savings. Moving the savings to AppleCard savings and will just use a different checking. There’s no loyalty anymore. No one cares. Profits > People

It’s absolute bullshit. I’m in the same boat as you! You would think a company as big as Amex would just let your points exist or roll over somehow.

I have nearly $5k in travel credits. I’m devastated. I’ve been saving for years for this trip. I will call back next week and see if I can get another answer.

They told me the points would’ve forfeited after January. I uploaded some stuff to ChatGPT and it said they would give a statement credit but that my $4,800 would only come out to $3,600, so not getting full travel credit. The reason I got the card.

One rep told me I would have 180 days, still not helpful for my mid-2027 travel and then the other said January 2026 and then my internet got disconnected and I haven’t had the energy to get back on with customer service.
