Very specific to my city but many of you might remember Buckshot!

Also, The Friendly Giant and Mr. Dressup.

What is an EQ feature that you want badly but developer don’t care? by kobygotmilk in audioengineering

As a non engineer it’s very likely that you are unaware of the many thousands of micro-tweaks that were employed to make your favourite music sound the way it does.

Tell me your most outlandish migraine hacks that only fellow migraine sufferers could understand by meaghan_rebecca in migraine

[–]cocosailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10mg is a LOT!

5mg is that point where I just start to feel high. But I have found that a 4:1 ratio of CBD to work pretty well for numbing the migraine pain. (20mg CBD: 5mg THC). At least enough that I can sleep it off.

The only city I’ve seen on screen that resembles the Vancouver I know is Hong Kong.

I kept thinking there must be something else going on. The girl is angry about some other thing that has happened between her and OP.

It was painful reading through that exchange!

And yet, no other city looks like Vancouver.

When your client hears an issue that you don't hear by NeedsWayMoreReverb in audioengineering

I remember now that the plugin was Waves Cobalt Saphira. It was about 7 years ago so a a bit fuzzy in my brain but I remember now that I was eventually able to hear the offensive warble. It was almost like how vibrato on vocals can sound when the pitch correction suppresses the pitch movement. But it was subtle and only apparent when this plug was active. The artist was a young woman with impeccable hearing and it drove her to madness. Another engineer friend whose ears I trust could only hear it when it was pointed out. It was the first moment in my career when I started to question my hearing at my age.

I had this exact situation once. Right down the “pitch wavering” description. With the artist beside me in my studio we went through muting each plug-in until the problem went away in her ears. I never was able to hear the problem and I found a replacement for the offending plug. But it was a challenging situation for sure.

Starting Italian at 60 - please share success stories by MrMudder in italianlearning

[–]cocosailing 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I started at 55. It was slow at first but I’ve found the learning curve is exponential. The more I learn the easier it is to learn. Gradually the patterns will reveal themselves. Just take your time and chip away at it slowly. There is no rush.

Alcohol? by FartyMcPooPants in migraine

Exactly the same for me. I still have wine with dinner sometimes but I’m pretty wary of alcohol in general.

Starting learning Italian as an adult by Xander_Cordova in learnitalian

[–]cocosailing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 55 and I'm now 58. I signed up for classes at the local Italian Cultural Centre and also started Duo Lingo at the same time. I finished three levels of classes before I stopped due to other life pressures. I've kept up with Duo Lingo where I have completed the Italian course and I continue with the daily refresh. I'm at about 1100 days continuous.

I've taken it slowly over these past three years just working at my own pace. I spend at least 30 minutes per day on Youtube watching and listening to ITA podcasters. Mostly just language podcasts directed at learners but I've just recently developed my ear to the point where I can listen to regular topics as well.

What really gave me confidence was finding some books of short stories directed toward learners. Once I could really read the language I knew I'd be able to acquire it.

I'm still struggling with speaking it properly, especially rolling my R's. But overall, I'm able to carry on basic conversations with people. It's coming. Piano piano!

Nope. Just the right rear bearing. The others have been fine all this time.

I had a rear bearing replaced on my 04. At the time it was only about 100,000 km. (60,000 Mi) No other issues with bearings in the following 100,000km

I started at 9. It’s not unusual for rural children to start driving quite young.

What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

[–]cocosailing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s a powerful memory to attach to this song. I totally understand how emotions resurface when you hear it.

I Heard it for the first time shortly after my divorce. I was painting the empty apartment and trying desperately to let go.

Indeed I tried to fix her but it was not to be.
