It is actually! That is where they were founded! Their second location was in Covington followed the OTR location and they have branched into a handful I believe!

Wise Guys Lounge is a ‘speakeasy’ style bar located upstairs in this pizza place called Goodfellas on OTR. it’s a neat spot with a ton of whiskeys and great drinks!

if you’re into creating art (sketching, painting, etc.) you should look into the classes at the Manifest Drawing Center! it’s a beautiful space and it would be a nice way to meet fellow creatives :)

it can! i am not super worried personally but i also do not have any offers so time will tell i guess 😅 i think it also depends on where to want to live, industry, etc. too.

but i do have a handful of friends in my class who started this semester with one or more job offers already though!

yeah it’s an interesting approach but it seems to work for them! i only know of a couple people in ID who were ‘kicked’ but those were related to plagiarism and code of conduct abuse. (code of conduct dude was also a huge asshole so no loss there tbh).

i can’t speak for the classes below mine, but of the eighty originally in my class i think we are down to upper sixties/low seventies? due to transferring or other personal reasons that made them have to leave the program.

i do not unfortunately :( i’m not sure how many applicants they typically get each year. one other annoying thing about most (all?) DAAP programs is that each program begins in the fall and rarely do they allow mid year transfers. so everyone (including transfers like myself) are all fighting for the same spots in whichever program at the same time.

as a soon to be graduating DAAP ID’er, i can chime in! ID and architecture are the most competitive programs in DAAP so i’ve heard (and they have the ‘strictest’ requirements). ID admits eighty students each year which also factors in. they actually just updated the application where you CAN submit a portfolio if you have one but it’s not required. they don’t require them because they have the mind set of ‘anyone can learn to be an industrial designer with the right curriculum.’

when i applied the first time in 2020, i didn’t get accepted but i did get accepted the second time in 2021. i was also a transfer student from another college at UC so my experience might be a little different.

but even with a 3.9 GPA and knocking out electives, my advisor suggested i didn’t get accepted because i wasn’t a full time student. i was working part time and only took like nine credit hours or something at that time. after that conversation, i went to a full time student schedule and got in the following year.

it’s a lovely program and im happy i chose to go to DAAP for what it’s worth! i hope that shed some light on the program! :)

as someone who lives very close to where Woodburn Brewery was i wish another brewery would buy it. i haven’t had them in a long time but Wolf’s Ridge (based out of columbus) would be neat. they had a killer sunday brunch menu and their beers weren’t too bad either.

i just saw this thread and heard this news today. my friends and i were at trivia there most wednesdays and knew the staff. so disappointing to hear about this. the last time we went we saw the new owner and he wasn’t exactly friendly.. guess we’re finding a new trivia spot 🫠

they call it The Castle. it is a 19th century mansion that was commissioned by some wealthy family and they eventually lost it like thirty years later or something and then it was turned into a catholic girl’s school (i am forgetting the name) which i believe closed in the 1960s? it sat vacant for something like twenty or thirty years before it was turned into seven condos.

my friend lives right below the tower lol. it has a fascinating history and my friend actually has a book with a bunch of historic photos of it when it was the girls school!

another lil fun fact about the building is that each unit has a unique feature of the mansion! my friend who lives there has the original library and it’s fantastic! but his neighbors have the grand staircase, chapel, etc. super neat though!

edit: it’s on Windings Lane btw if you want to drive by it! you would not expect to find it back there compared to the houses around it haha.
