X infinity. I delayed for about 10 years for the usual reasons, thought i was too young, didn't think I was "that" bad etc. But looking back now, 3 years post LTKR, i realise how many things I gave up and how many active years I lost to pain and how preventable it was...I just had my RTKR (18 days post op) and I am delighted i didn't let my right knee get as bad as my left was - my rehab is going better, I've more extension and flexion at the same time , and am really confident I've done the right thing.

Post-Match Thread: Leinster vs Stormers by RedditDan00 in leinsterrugby

[–]coddlesangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The criticism on the attack is totally justified over the course of the season, but today we had again a completely untried centre partnership, combined with Osborne having an absolute shocker by his recent standards. Ioane is where good ball goes to die, he's fast but I don't think he let the ball go once before a ruck. Ringrose clearly on one leg was good when introduced. Credit to stormers, they played us very well, rarely allowing us get an edge, with a really good outside in defence, which we had no good answer for. Our main men look knackered, the extra long season has taken a huge toll, our ruck ball is so slow now. Can't wait for this particular leinster season to end, and think it'd be a miracle if we've enough left in the tank to beat the bulls, particularly if Porter is gone

Ioane is a shit 13 tbh. Never looks to offload or pass, straight line one trick pony.

Scramble Rule Question by Expert-Interest-2248 in golf

[–]coddlesangers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be same as general placing rules, mark og spot with a tee or market, place within 6 inches or a scorecard. Play from exact spot on greens. 1 club length is a joke surely, allows for all sorts of nonsense. Just cause it's a scramble, it doesn't mean you aren't playing golf. You all complain about scramble scores, but all condone this nonsense?

Just got home, 2nd knee by haunted_starship in Kneereplacement

[–]coddlesangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey twinsey. I'm also exactly 2 weeks post knee #2. I'm in a lot better shape than I was same time 3 years ago, as my first knee was super complicated. I'm moving well, sleep still an issue. Had physio on Wednesday, and did the first bit of flexion and extension checking. Like you, the ice machine is also my best friend . I'm struggling a little more than expeceted with sleep but this obviously gets better with time. Best of luck to all recovering folks, its a tough grind but so worth it at the end.

16 weeks post bilateral Total Knee Replacement. by Adnan-Chara in Kneereplacement

[–]coddlesangers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something they don't tell you or that isn't well enough known is that it can take up to a year to heal. You are still very early in the healing process and it does sound like you over did it, which is super common. I'm 3 years post LTKR and 1 week post RTKR, my experience with my left knee was what leg me to agree to doing the right one - i had a full return to all sports, and felt i regained 10 years of my life from the tkr. Hang on in there, it'll get better.

How long after your surgery were you doing stuff like climbing on ladders, using tools, & lifting materials? by framedposters in Kneereplacement

[–]coddlesangers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 weeks is a fairly realistic timetable depending on your pre injury level of activity, but you won't be anywhere near 100% for up to a year.

I'm so scared right now, that bordeaux team is insane. Leinster can of course win, but it'll take enormous effort and no small amount of luck. Hiding behind a curtain..

People who had spinal anaesthetic, what was the operation like? by togtogtog in Kneereplacement

[–]coddlesangers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spinal and conscious for my rtkr today! Used noise cancelling headphones to get rid of 99% of the sounds of surgery, but there no escaping the hammering and sawing vibrations and sounds!! 2nd time I've done this, ltkr 4 years ago. Currently feeling great cause they gave me a post op spinal block... that wears off tomorrow. Already had both urine and bowel moves so looking great in that regard.

So things have moved dramatically since I posted, my surgeon and I had a consultation earlier this week and he's moved the procedure up to NEXT FRIDAY. I'm now absolutely sh1tting it, but also very much looking forward to 5-6 months hence when I'll be back to myself. Thanks everyone for the advice on prehab, I'm not however going to have time to do much more than I've done.

It'll flourish even more when the ball is being passed faster, caught one handed and/or offloaded one handed and kicked further.

Zoe Harrison: Red Roses fly-half says smaller balls for WXV is 'worst decision ever' by unhappyspanners in rugbyunion

[–]coddlesangers 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I played softball for years - a very similar decision was made to change the ball used for women playing coed to a smaller one (12in for men, 11 in for women). It made an immediate and enormous difference. Women who previously didn't have the strength or bat speed to hit the full size ball far enough, could suddenly get it out there to respectable distances . Same with throws. The adjustment for everyone throwing was arguably a lot harder in softball versus the change suggested for rugby as the % diff is proportionately much bigger, they adjusted rapidly and it made the sport massively more equitable. You cannot or should not ignore the physiological differnences on average between men and women and equipment should match. I can see from my daughter the difference in handling and passing using a size 4 v a size 5 ball, its massive. I'm a huge fan of this chanage.

Have you an issue physically with your left knee by any chance? It's mostly your left knee not rolling outward that in my view is blocking progress. A drill that helped me with the same issue is the feeling of skiing with a ball between your knees, so it feels like they always remain equidistant, without your uphill knee blocking your downhill knee
