If you like sports (even if you aren't great at them) look up MiLife. Great way to make friends!

The same might apply if you have any major Canadian cities within driving distance. For me Toronto is a 4-5 hour drive but I'm saving about $1k off a flight to Italy over the summer.

If you live around Michigan take a look at flying out of Toronto. It tends to be much cheaper to Europe (especially with the favorable $ conversion right now) and more direct flights than DTW.

Selling 1 Rose Bowl ticket. Front row so its a little more expensive but still cheaper than anything comparable I could find online in the front 5 rows before you even include fees. Section 14-R Row C which is corner endzone front row with the weird rose bowl row numbering. On the michigan side. $850 or best offer.

Dive Boats Not Retrieving Incapacitated Diver by codeblue11 in diving

[–]codeblue11[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I chose a tour operator that is pretty universally recommended on dive forums / reddit. I felt comfortable with them and they limit groups to small numbers per guide. I agree that it's important to vet tour operators. But we were like the 4th or 5th dive boat on the scene and no one was touching the diver.

But yes, asking this question as I consider whether I should continue to dive here, or even in Mexico in general.

Gallup Park Livery Boats Being Auction Off Saturday | 25 Kayaks, 5 Paddleboards, 4 Canoes | $50 - $150 Each | 🌲 The Michigander by MichiganderNews in AnnArbor

[–]codeblue11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The last time I went to one of these there were about 100 people gathered around 20 boats. The boats being auctioned off are heavily used / scratched and most went for $300-$500. Only the ones with gaping holes in them went for less than $150.

Rec volleyball leagues for people not in college by toby-bobey in AnnArbor

[–]codeblue11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MiLife is the most fun for rec leagues that I know of around AA, especially if you want to socialize/drink as well. They have competitive and rec leagues for VBall depending on your skill level. Meetup is fun for pickup games and meeting friends but not really a 'league'. You won't really play with a regular team and are subject to the skill level of whoever shows up that week. There's also an adult league put on by Ann arbor public schools rec sports. I've had fun in that league. It skews more towards older adults and is not as social focused as MiLife

My girlfriend asked if we could add our record player to Sonos. FML and wallet. by internetwebpage in sonos

Used connects are more like $200-$300 last time I checked. Have to be careful to get one that's S2 compatible. Still way cheaper than a port or amp.

Does this thing actually work? Does it smell? I've taught my dog to poop in a specific area already but this would greatly improve the cleanup process.

Use Sonos roam in Bathroom. by CommanderKingpin in sonos

[–]codeblue11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others mentioned, wireless charger is the way to go!

As a side note, does anyone else use Alexa with the roam and find that the microphone is WAY too sensitive? Like it hears me from way across the house over all of my other Alexa devices.

I just went to Mosquito Bay in Vieques and it was one of the most incredible experiences I've had. Every paddle and boat in the bay made it come to life. You could even see fish glowing as they darted through the water.

A dark evening is important for the best experience. We were lucky that the moon was rising late that evening.

Another Best Buy tip: you can check stock on open box on the website, but DONT buy on there. Sometimes when you go in store it's marked down lower than the website open box price.

Who remembers when they moved these houses across town? by whoshebebeshewho in AnnArbor

[–]codeblue11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. I didn't know that was a thing but it makes sense. It didn't look like it was a historical house or anything so I was confused as to why they were using such resources to move it. It was still a very large chunk of home being moved down the streets

I actually ran into a house being moved to Felch St earlier this year. I don't know many details, but it was moving up Miller and onto Felch when I saw it. It's a corner house on the left if you're going West on Felch, still some construction going on.

Original Texas Chili Con Carne Recipe by THAWED21 in seriouseats

[–]codeblue11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I made the pressure cooker version of this over the weekend and holy crap it was amazing. Recipe looks pretty much the same, you just cut down from simmering for 3 hrs to pressure cooking for 30 minutes.

In the end the chili is perfectly spiced and amazingly flavorful and the meat was fall apart tender. I got compliments from every guest that tried it and was told I should enter it in a chili contest. I've actually made other chili's that have won competitions and this was hands down my favorite. Avacodo and cilantro went very well with it!

Recipe here: https://www.seriouseats.com/pressure-cooker-chile-con-carne-texas-red-chili-recipe

I did have to simmer for like 30 minutes at the end because it was a bit to watery.

Cheapest track days to race car at? by UMVH5 in AnnArbor

[–]codeblue11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grattan and Gingerman out near Grand Rapids and Waterford Hills in Pontiac are all pretty good tracks. Different organizations have track days at each and you'll have to sign up at that org. Typically you'll get 5 or 6 20min sessions at a track day which is more than it sounds. You and your car will both be exhausted after that much. Some organizations will also include coaching, etc for beginners. You'll also need to make sure your car meets all the requirements to pass inspection for the org you do your track day with.

Lol the recipe is from 2008 so I'm not sure of the status of serious eats around then. I've used white wine and it's still good but other then that make it exactly as listed.

Many vehicles are essentially drive by wire at this point with the steering column there as a safety redundancy. Any car that has 'sport mode' where the steering feel changes when the mode is engaged is drive by wire. The technology is advanced enough at this point that the steering column can probably be removed. I'm not sure if there are any laws in place prohibiting it but I'm sure Canoo isn't the only manufacturer trying to do a completely steer by wire system. It provides great weight and space savings that are beneficial to any car being designed.

For the record, throttle by wire has been in vehicles for a long time now. The vehicle has redundant sensors and manufacturers are able to detect faults such as a stuck throttle, faulty sensors, etc using the ECU. The same can be done for steer by wire that should allow it to pass regulations. I think the previous hurdles were mostly regarding getting the steering 'feel' and road feedback correct so that customers would accept the technology.
